Bug Fixes Service packs and hot fixes are tested before release, but as always, IHS highly recommends that you back up your projects before updating Kingdom. Kingdom updates are inclusive and incorporate all fixes from previous updates.

Hot Fix 4 (September 29, 2015)

This hot fix resolves 10 customer-reported issues in 2d/3dPAK, EarthPAK, VuPAK, and Kingdom Data Management.

This hot fix resolves five customer-reported issues Kingdom Data Management.


Operator, lease name, TD formation, and producing field are now correctly transferred by KDM.

This hot fix resolves 14 customer-reported issues in 2d3dPAK, EarthPAK, AVOPAK, VelPAK, VuPAK, and Seismic Direct.


2d/3dPAK Switching languages using ALT-Left SHIFT now works when Kingdom is running, and Kingdom no longer slows down typing in other apps. CA418733

Feature Pack 2 (July 14, 2015)

This release includes a number of customer requested enhancements.

Area Description

2d/3dPAK New base map buttons for quick, easy access to common functions:

o Clear Map

o Create Seismic Arbline

o Highlight Wells is accessible now with a 2d/3dPAK license

Usability improvements for z-slice display from a VSD

Tuning Analysis dialog is now modeless and does not block other Kingdom windows

Rock Solid Attributes

Modeless RSA dialog box to allow working in other Kingdom windows during RSA calculations

Progress bar in the main RSA dialog box to allow working in other Kingdom windows during RSA calculations

An option to select the number of computer cores allows sharing of computer resources amongst multiple processes

Seismic subset selection with digitized polygon

Microseismic Improved treatment curve management for better performance:

o Select treatment curves to load

o Delete un-needed data from the project

o Select a subset of treatment curves for display

GeoSyn Continued integration with Kingdom. Import and export synthetics directly from the Wells menu in Kingdom.

VelPAK New 3d visualization module

The 3d surface viewer has been significantly upgraded to allow the display of multiple surfaces, wells, and profiles in a more interactive environment. It becomes much easier to validate the depth conversion against wells and other surfaces, and to visualize how velocity fields vary prior to generating volumes, for a more efficient, quality controlled workflow.

The new 3d viewer requires a graphics card that supports OpenGL 3.0 or later.

Improved selection & filtering of wells on the Optimize and Curve data grids

For more control over which well data is utilized in the model, particularly with projects with many wells, the Optimize and Curve Data table filters are now cumulative. There is a new right-mouse button context menu to allow fast resetting of all the filters applied, & to force the data table to be rebuilt from the model.

VelPAK Well display

The grid titles are now displayed on the Well display. If the grid label is empty (“None”) or auto-generated (“XPRESS”) then the posted label is taken from the Surface name, otherwise the user defined grid label is posted.

For a better understanding of the well layer properties, there is now a summary Data table tab in the Well display. As usual, this table can be copy/pasted to spreadsheets such as Excel.

Revised import of stacking velocities dialog

Velocities from multiple 2d lines can be imported in one go, saving the user from making multiple passes with the Import dialog.

Decimation is now simplified, specified by the user as a single value for real world spacing on the surface and millisecond sampling vertically. This makes the dialog easier to understand and also prevents accidental biasing of the data between surveys with different trace spacing.

New Optimize method

Optimize calculates the best fit to the data and the best residual, previously when one parameter is fixed (e.g. fixed K, contour V0) the only values available were the best residual. Now, as a result of a customer request, the use is able to fix one parameter and contour the other on the basis of best fit.

Seismic Inversion

Colored Inversion

The Colored Inversion parameters have been simplified by the removal of redundant options, leading to quicker and faster use.

The automatic phase estimation routine has been significantly improved to give a more robust estimation of the phase of the seismic. The Phase Rotation display is now fully annotated and easier to understand. The user may still choose to override the suggested phase shift value. The user can also control the window of the phase estimation using two new slider bars.

Band-pass filtering of the impedance log now de-trends the data, reducing edge effects and improving the quality of the phase correction computation and the inversion.

Simulated Annealing (SA) Inversion

Various minor stability and performance improvements have been made.

Specify a time frame for your Kingdom session to be automatically saved.

Quickly recover your workflow if Kingdom was shut down unexpectedly.

Author Management

View the full path to an author folder for long, nested network folders.

Additional checks implemented for choosing a new author folder.

Trace Calculations

Dialog boxes are now modeless so that you can continue with other work during calculations.

Define survey subsets by digitizing a survey-aligned rectangle on the base map.

Math on Two Maps

The manual pick horizon flag is preserved for selected functions.

Additional support for depth data

Trace Calculations: generate wavelets from depth data.

AVOPAK supports bandpass filter for depth gathers.

Usability Usability improvements around handling missing grid and fault files in the project.

Create a survey subset in Fault Attributes by digitizing a rectangle on the base map.

Hot Fix 3 (April 14, 2015)

Kingdom Data Management (KDM)

A KDM hot fix will be released separately at a later date to resolve a number of client-reported issues.


Angles in AVOPAK

Kingdom 2015 included a new method for calculating angles in AVOPAK. When using this new method, we have found that the results are sensitive to shallow beds with extremely low velocities, even if very thin. The short term work around is to clean up the TD curves so that the velocities are all realistic. We are continuing to research this option. (CA26439)

Fault Polygon Association with Grids

Due to the implementation of project grid loading, the fault polygon association with grids is not displayed in the Fault > Fault Polygon Management > Properties dialog box until the associated grids have been displayed or opened through other dialog boxes.

The association between fault polygons and grids is displayed correctly on the Grid > Grid Management > Properties dialog box.

This issue is planned to be addressed in a future Kingdom release.


Drives mapped to Kingdom project folders

Please avoid mapping a Kingdom project folder directly to a drive letter such as K:\.

If a Kingdom project folder is mapped to a single drive letter, and a CRS is assigned to the project, then the project will fail to open.

Error 1321 when applying patch

When applying a patch the following error message(s) may appear.

Error 1321. The Installer has insufficient privileges to modify the file C:\Program Files\IHS\KingdomSuite\TKS90\ProjectUpgrade.exe.

Or

Error 1321. The Installer has insufficient privileges to modify the file C:\Program Files\IHS\KingdomSuite\TKS90\KingdomSchedulingService.exe.

Possible Causes

There are several possible causes for this message:

Your antivirus application could have a lock on the .exe file.

The processes are not stopping before the patch tries to update them.

The TKS90 folder (or parent folder) permissions are set to restricted rights

The TKS90 folder is encrypted.

Workarounds

In most cases clicking Retry will allow the patch to continue and complete successfully.

If not try temporarily disabling virus scanning programs like Symantec or AVG.

Confirm the following:

The processes listed above are not running prior to running the patch.

The uninstalling user is an administrator.

There is no encryption set on the application folder.
