This weekend’s second collection is the
monthly appeal for our parish St. Vin-
cent de Paul Society.
The second collection next week is for
the Georgia Bulletin, the official news-
paper of the Archdiocese of Atlanta.
THE 2017 ARCHBISHOP’S ANNUAL APPEAL (AAA) is now underway. Very soon, many of us will
receive a letter from Archbishop Gregory asking for a
pledge.
THE AAA funds the essential ministr ies of the Catholic Church in nor th
Georgia—very important among them the Office of Vocations, which invites,
educates and supports our future priests.
YOUR PLEDGE helps the wider Catholic Church and our par ish: After we
reach our parish, 100% of funds received from IHM will return to IHM!
PLEASE RESPOND to Archbishop Gregory’s letter with a generous pledge.
Pledges will be billed in ten monthly installments. Thank you for your good
stewardship of our parish and our Catholic Church!
You can pledge online at http://appeal.archatl.com.
Make sure to designate IHM as your parish!
2016 Contribution Statements were mailed last week to all IHM donors. If you did
not receive your statement, or if you have any questions, please contact our Finance
Director, Richard Plachta, at [email protected] or 404-636-1418 ext. 245.
To my IHM family,
What a grace filled weekend for me and my wife Nancy! There are not enough words
to express how much gratitude I feel toward all those who prayed for me and carried
me through the five-year journey of formation and ordination to the Diaconate. Your
love and support have been constant companions. Thank you for all that you have
done to make me feel so welcome in this new role.
As Monsignor Al has shared, Diaconal ministry is focused on charity and service.
That ministry doesn’t happen in a vacuum. It’s a team effort of committed Christians
willing to focus their faith outward to be salt and light to the world. I am inspired
every day by the myriad of ways that IHM parishioners serve those in our communi-
ty. I look forward to serving with you in the years to come.
May God bless you and your families.
With gratitude and joy,
Deacon Erik
MONSIGNOR AL’S 60TH ICE CREAM SOCIAL Friday, March 10 Monsignor Al turns 60 on Friday, March 10, and
he’s throwing his own party—an Ice Cream Social
in the historic church, 5:30-7:30 p.m.—and he in-
vites the entire parish to celebrate with him.
Remember not to give up ice cream for Lent—
although we’re pretty sure the Pastor will give you
a dispensation even if you do! And Monsignor
asks: No gifts, please!
ANNULMENT INFORMATION WORKSHOP Monday, February 13 IHM has two newly certified annulment case sponsors who are ready to answer
your questions and accompany you through this widely misunderstood process.
They, together with Monsignor Al and Deacon Bob, invite you to an
informational meeting on Monday, February 13, at 7:00 p.m. in the Lower Level
of the Church to learn more about the Church’s understanding of marriage
and how the annulment process might help you to experience God’s
sacramental grace and healing. For more details, contact Deacon Bob Hauert

God is faithful! God has never broken a promise!
God always remembers the covenant!
On March 5, IHM presents internationally known Chris-
tian singer, dramatist, songwriter and recording artist Sam
Kauffman in an exciting Lenten program entitled
“Remember the Promise.” This program will take place in
the church, 6:30-7:30 p.m.
Through stories, songs and musical fun, we will learn
about God’s covenant promises to Adam, Noah, Abraham
and Sarah, Moses, David, Joseph and Jesus. See how God
prepared a perfect way for Jesus, the living covenant, to
come into the world.
This program is designed with elementary school students and their families in mind.
But anyone is welcome to attend!
Each Thursday, Dr. Louanne Bachner leads an informative and prayerful
discussion of the lectionary readings for the following Sunday. The study
meets in the Lower Level at two different times: 9:30 a.m. or 7:00 p.m.
If you are interested in learning more about the Catholic faith, please
contact Drew Denton in the parish office (contact information listed
above).

Children ages 4-7 are dismissed for their own special Liturgy of the Word at the be-
ginning of 9:00 a.m. Mass most Sundays. This ministry allows young children to
listen to the scriptures, say the Creed, and offer their prayers in language appropriate
to their age level, before returning to church for the Liturgy of the Eucharist.
If you would like to help lead the children’s liturgy, please contact Drew Denton in
the parish office.
Note: There will be no Liturgy of the Word for Children on February 19.

matrimonio.
Te pedimos todas estas cosas por Cristo
nuestro Señor,
Amén.
San Joaquín y Santa Ana, rueguen por nosotros.
