Sampling MediaAll necessary supplies (filters, tubes, passive monitors, solutions, etc) are provided FREE OF CHARGE with the understanding that either the samples or unused supplies are returned to the Bureau Veritas laboratory within 60 days. International locations have 120 days to return sample media. Lost, damaged, expired or non-returned supplies will be invoiced at replacement cost after that time, unless prior arrangements are made. Media can be ordered via toll free numbers on page 1 or on our website at www.us.bureauveritas.com/labs.

Sampling media will be shipped free inside the contiguous United States. Overnight delivery is invoiced at cost to the client. International shipments will be invoiced to the client. The following are the responsibility of the client and will be invoiced: 1) Hazardous materials fees and 2) Customs or import fees.

Electronic Data DeliverablesBureau Veritas has expertise in providing electronic data deliverables in a variety of formats for upload into client databases. Our final reports are transmitted to clients as a PDF image file using Adobe Acrobat. By supplying your e-mail address, this file can be automatically sent upon completion of the report. The e-mail final report can be copied to a regional or corporate contact if desired.

Formats commonly used for upload into a customer database include Excel, ASCII (both fixed-length and delimited) and XML files. A map of the standard output file can be supplied for formatting purposes. Bureau Veritas has experience with many commercially available database products as well as custom designed databases. Consultation with our LIMS Administrator is available to discuss your requirements, document file specifications and develop a customized file. Please contact the laboratory for further details.

Turnaround TimeStandard turnaround time is five working days. Turnaround for asbestos and microbiological samples is tailored to meet project demands. Specialized analyses such as pharmaceuticals, mercaptans, and nitrosamines may require a longer turnaround time. Expedited services can normally be arranged with prior notification. A surcharge is normally added for expedited service. Please contact the laboratory to discuss your project needs in advance.

BlanksAnalysis of each client field blank is charged at the same rate as sample analysis. Blanks with multiple compounds will be invoiced for the first analyte only.

Quantity Discount ScheduleThe following discount schedule will be given on published list pricing for those sample sets submitted at one time involving 15 or more identical analyses, billed as a single batch.

Payment TermsPayment terms are Net 30. Bureau Veritas accepts Visa, MasterCard, and American Express or will invoice against a purchase order. Prepayment may be required based upon credit or payment history. Prices are subject to change without notice.

Sampling EquipmentBureau Veritas provides industrial hygiene sampling pumps and calibrators, IAQ equipment, aerosol and particle counters, stack emission equipment and other sampling instruments for a nominal fee. Pumps are available as low as $6/day.

When Bureau Veritas Laboratories assists you with your equipment needs, there is no change in your negotiated analytical fees or discounts. We would be pleased to send you a complete inventory and an equipment price quote for your project. Damaged equipment will be invoiced at replacement cost.

Environmental AnalysisThe Bureau Veritas Laboratory network offers environmental analyses, providing analytical testing on groundwater, wastewater, soil, and hazardous waste matrices. We can test for a wide variety of parameters including volatiles, semi-volatiles, polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs), metals, hazardous waste characterization, and Toxicity Characteristic Leaching Procedure (TCLP).

Our laboratories are certified by TNI National Environmental Laboratory Accreditation Program (NELAP) and also have specific accreditations for several states. Please contact the Novi, MI location or see our website for details.

Investigative Analytical ServicesWhen you have reached a point in your investigation where you need to step away and have a fresh perspective without preconceptions, Bureau Veritas has the experience and background to analyze the issue. The Bureau Veritas Laboratory network brings the unique skill set of critical thinking, technical expertise and vast analytical resources to apply to your problem.

These services use a different approach to laboratory analysis than the typical identification or quantification. In an investigative project, we consider each client project as a partnership in problem solving and root cause analysis. Working with you, our scientists create specific work plans to address your unique problem.

Our expertise has solved a wide variety of common problems including identifying reasons for manufacturing and product failures through contaminant identification and materials characterization, identification of odor-causing IAQ and occupational health issues, and assembling information and data for litigation support.

When there are no clear cut answers to “What is this odor?” “What is this unknown substance?” or “Why did my product or process fail?” contact Bureau Veritas for the answer.

Since each project is unique, all pricing is by quotation after development of a detailed work plan.

Specialty Services

Methods Development/Validation Services Bureau Veritas provides method development/validation services for compounds which sampling and analysis protocols are not available in the public domain. This service is available for active pharmaceutical ingredients, proprietary chemicals, and intermediates as well as final products in the client pipeline. Our protocol is based on standard development and validation protocols, knowledge of industry standards and years of expertise. The Bureau Veritas protocol can be used as is or as a starting point for customization to meet your requirements. Alternately, a validation protocol can be provided to the laboratory and a quote developed based upon those specifications. The basic elements of a development/validation project are listed below for review.

In order to begin a development/validation project, the client must provide an Occupational Exposure Limit (OEL) or other defined control limit/range, as well as reference material if the target compound is not commercially available. Pricing is by quotation and varies depending upon the defined scope of the validation, the technology employed, and the nature of the target molecule. Bureau Veritas has expertise with a broad range of compounds and techniques to efficiently develop a new method and meet client specifications.

Elements of a Standard Project Method Development • Selection of appropriate analytical technique • Demonstration of selectivity, sensitivity, precision and resolution • Demonstration of analytical range (ruggedness and robustness) • Sampling media selection Method Validation • Extraction efficiency from the media • Analyte stability during sampling (sampling efficiency) • Storage stability of collected samples relative to time and storage conditions • Stability of extracted samples • Determination and demonstration of method accuracy and precision • Comprehensive written method and validation report Method Transfer• Validation according to client requirements of existing sampling and analytical methods

Surface Contamination Bureau Veritas has successfully adapted industrial hygiene analytical methods to address surface sampling for either housekeeping or product contact surface cleaning validation purposes. Analysis can be performed from swipes, swabs, or rinses. These methods are intended to evaluate only the surface sampling and other procedures that differ from air sampling methods and are not intended to re-evaluate analytical procedures. Contact the laboratory to discuss method suitability for your application.

Process Containment Evaluation Process containment can be evaluated through the use of surrogates. Surrogates offer an effective and safe technique for evaluating containment and process control of highly potent or hazardous materials. Bureau Veritas offers containment evaluation following The ISPE Good Practice Guide: Assessing the Particulate Containment Performance of Pharmaceutical Equipment as a standard methodology for use in testing the containment efficiency of solids handling systems. The use of surrogate materials provides an opportunity to evaluate and measure the effectiveness of process containment controls and correct any deficiencies prior to introduction of a high potency material into the process. A variety of surrogates are available and selection is dependent upon the application or particular process. Common surrogates are Lactose, Mannitol, Naproxen sodium, Riboflavin and Acetaminophen. Surrogate sensitivities range from 0.2 nanograms to 5 nanograms per sample and include non-API materials for your consideration. Please call the laboratory to discuss which surrogate is most appropriate for your application.

Toxicology Services Toxicology services are offered independently or in support of Bureau Veritas’ method development and validation services. Consultation is provided by a board-certified toxicologist. Curriculum vitae are available upon request.

Toxicology Services • Occupational Exposure Limit (OEL) establishment • Toxicology data interpretation • Risk assessment in support of new drug development • Impact of chemicals on human health • Preparation of dossiers for FDA submission Pricing is by quotation or on an hourly basis.
