They kept the matter to themselves, questioning what rising from the dead meant. Resurrection has a great sound to it, However, lets not bypass too quickly the implications of that word. It follows a death. There is no resurrection without tremendous and comprehensive loss. You can’t get there from here except by way of the tomb. If we want new life, we have to surrender the old one. This is every bit as tricky as it seems. If I want to feel less run down, I need to make more time for rest and exercise. If I need to de-stress, I have to learn to say no more often. If I don’t like the dynamics of my relationships, it’s time to mend what’s broken, create new avenues of communication. “Raising from the dead” was a phrase that puzzled the first disciples. We can’t claim the same ignorance. We know what resurrection means and what it costs. If the life we have isn’t the life we long for, there’s only one way to acquire our heart’s desire. The present course has to be abandoned, to make room for new life to rise up. What do you want that you don’t have now? What stands in the way?

Si la vida que tenemos no es la vida que anhelamos, solo hay una forma de adquirir el deseo de nuestro corazón. El curso actual tiene que ser abandonado, para hacer surja una nueva vida.

Second Sunday of Lent Lent suggests to us new ways of seeing, up to now unknown to us. The Transfiguration is about this way of seeing. The crosses we are given to bear tend to be unrecognizable in public. The Transfiguration in the Gospel today reminds us we are human, yet God is there, life and breath in us. Stations of the Cross and Benediction at 6 pm Fridays in English and in Spanish at 7 pm. Chuukese Bishop This coming weekend, March 2-3, Bishop Armando Samo of the Caroline Islands, will be here at for a pastoral visit. On Saturday, March 3rd at 11:00 am there will be Mass, following the traditional Chuukese music and customs. The Mass is in the church, followed by a reception. Anyone is invited to attend. Chuukese people from the Northwest will attend. Prayers Miriam Smith, 67, died on February 11th in Patterson, California. She is the sister of Josie Spiotti and Helen Mayandipan, of St. Vincent’s. A Memorial Service at St. Vincent’s is pending.

The Office of Divine Worship promotes and facilitates the good stewardship of the sacred liturgy in the Archdiocese and within each parish through catechesis and training. Together with its chief steward, the Archbishop, the people of God will seek to enhance the beauty of the sacred liturgy so that they may be “actively engaged in the rite, and enriched by its effects;” and in so doing, care for the poor and vulnerable of the world. All parishioners are invited and encouraged to attend. Please consider making this one of your Lenten Goals to become more aware of God’s plan for you. RSVP is not required, however we would appreciate a count to better prepare for our breaks/Si va a participar, registrarse en la oficina.

Young Adult Group for 18-23 yrs. old ~ will meet this Wednesday from 7 pm-8:30 pm in Conference Room A.

FIRST THURSDAYS – March 1st – Living a Moral Life in an Immoral World Guest speaker: Rev. Timothy Furlow- Parochial Vicar - St. Mary’s Cathedral, Portland. We meet at 7pm at McMenamin’s Thompson Brewery & Public House. No food or drink purchase necessary.

First Communion Banner Kits are now available. Each kit contains enough supplies for TWO full banners. Cost is $10.00 per kit. Sheila will have them available in the Gathering Area on Monday, February 26 after we address the parents in the church.

There are still 27 families who have not picked up the book and packet. Your child will not be able to pass the test without this information and teaching.

A few families have not selected a date for their child’s First Communion. Please see Sheila in the office as soon as possible.
