GUIDELINES TO ATTEND MASS: 1. Please come early to be seated. 2. People that are sick or vulnerable participate in Mass from home. 3. Follow the social distancing recommendations both inside and outside

the Church. Maintain at least a 6-feet distance between individuals from a different household at all times.

4. Everyone must wear a face mask and gloves. You will only take the mask and gloves off to receive Holy Communion.

5. Please use hand sanitizer or wipes before and after Mass. 6. As a preventive measure, we will not be distributing missals during

mass. 7. The FRONT DOORS will only used to enter the Church. The side door

will be exits at the end of Mass. 8. The offering baskets will not be passed during mass. Please deposit

SOLEMNITY OF PENTECOST The Gospel presents Jesus, who in the cenacle on Easter evening, “breathed on them and said: ‘Receive the Holy Spirit.'” This breathing of Jesus recalls God’s action who, in the creation, “formed man out of the clay of the ground and blew into his nostrils the breath of life, and so man became a living being” (cf. Genesis 2:7). With his gesture Jesus indicates that the Holy Spirit is the divine breath that gives life to the new creation as he gave life to the first creation. The responsorial psalm highlights this theme: “Send forth your Spirit, and they shall be created, and you shall renew the face of the earth.” Proclaiming that the Holy Spirit is Creator means saying that his sphere of action is not restricted to the Church, but extends to the entire creation. No place and no time is without his active presence. He acts in and out of the Bible; he acts before Christ, during the time of Christ, and after Christ, even if he never acts apart from Christ. “All truth, by whomever it is spoken,” Thomas Aquinas has written, “comes from the Holy Spirit.” The action of the Spirit of Christ outside the Church is not the same as his action in the Church and in the sacraments. Outside he acts by his power; in the Church he acts by his presence, in person. The most important thing about the creative power of the Holy Spirit is not, however, to understand it and explain its implications, but to experience it. But what does it mean to experience the Spirit as Creator? To understand it, let us take the creation account as our point of departure. “In the beginning, when God created the heavens and the earth, the earth was a formless wasteland, and darkness covered the abyss, and the Spirit of the Lord brooded over the waters” (Genesis 1:1-2). We conclude from this that the universe already existed in the moment when the Spirit intervened, but it was formless and dark, chaos. It is after his action that the creation assumes precise contours; light is separated from darkness, dry land from the sea, and everything takes on a definite shape. Thus, it is the Holy Spirit who transforms the creation from chaos into cosmos, who makes it something beautiful, ordered, polished (“cosmos” comes from the same root as “cosmetic” and it means beautiful!), he makes a “world,” in the double sense of this word. Science teaches us today that this process went on for billions of years, but the Bible — with its simple and image-filled language — wants to tell us that the slow evolution toward life and the present order of the world did not happen by chance, following blind material impulses. It followed, rather, a project that the Creator inserted in it from the beginning.

SOLEMNIDAD DE PENTECOSTES El Evangelio presenta a Jesús, que, en el cenáculo de la noche de Pascua, "sopló sobre ellos y les dijo: “Reciban al Espíritu Santo'". Este soplo de Jesús recuerda la acción de Dios que, en la creación, «formó al hombre de la arcilla del suelo y sopló en sus fosas nasales el aliento de la vida, y así el hombre se convirtió en un ser vivo» (cf. Génesis 2,7). Con su gesto Jesús indica que el Espíritu Santo es el aliento divino que da vida a la nueva creación al dar vida a la primera creación. El salmo responsorial destaca este tema: "Envía tu Espíritu, y serán creados, y renovaras la faz de la tierra." Proclamar que el Espíritu Santo es Creador significa, que su esfera de acción no se limita a la Iglesia, sino que se extiende a toda la creación. No hay lugar ni tiempo sin su presencia activa. Actúa dentro y fuera de la Biblia; actúa ante Cristo, durante el tiempo de Cristo y después de Cristo, aunque nunca actua aparte de Cristo. "Toda verdad, por quien quiera que se hable", ha escrito Tomás de Aquino, "viene del Espíritu Santo." La acción del Espíritu de Cristo fuera de la Iglesia no es la misma que su acción en la Iglesia y en los sacramentos. Afuera actúa por su poder; en la Iglesia actúa por su presencia, en persona. Lo más importante del poder creativo del Espíritu Santo no es, sin embargo, entenderlo y explicar sus implicaciones, sino experimentarlo. Pero, ¿qué significa experimentar el Espíritu como Creador? Para entenderlo, tomemos en cuenta la creación como nuestro punto de partida. "Al principio, cuando Dios creó los cielos y la tierra, la tierra era un caos sin forma, y las tinieblas cubrían el abismo, y el Espíritu del Señor meditaba sobre las aguas" (Génesis 1:1-2). De esto llegamos a la conclusión de que el universo ya existía en el momento en que el Espíritu intervino, pero era un caos sin forma y oscuridad. Es después de su acción que la creación asume contornos precisos; la luz se separa de la oscuridad, la tierra seca del mar, y todo adquiere una forma definida. Por lo tanto, es el Espíritu Santo quien transforma el caos en cosmos, que lo hace algo hermoso, ordenado, pulido (¡”cosmos” proviene de la misma raíz que “cosmético” y significa hermoso!), hace un "mundo", en el doble sentido de esta palabra. La ciencia nos enseña hoy que este proceso se continuó durante miles de millones de años, pero la Biblia —con su lenguaje simple y lleno de imágenes— quiere decirnos que la lenta evolución hacia la vida y el orden actual del mundo no ocurrió por casualidad, siguiendo impulsos materiales ciegos. Siguió, más bien, un proyecto que el Creador insertó en él desde el principio.

Summer faith classes offered via ZOOM Throughout the summer, the diocesan Office of

Evangelization and Catech-esis is offering a variety of courses to serve the needs of Catholic school educators, parish catechists, youth min-isters and anyone who wants to learn more about their faith. Topics range from Sacramental Theology to Ecumenism to Christian Leadership. Courses feature instruction by experienced trainers and include printed materials and books for students. the children even though this may not be the way we would have

the sacraments and not of the exterior and the celebrations that

usually take place after the reception of the sacrament.
