YOU HAVE A JOB TO DO

Many Christians today desire a deeper, more integrated approach to serving God in their work. Their work is disconnected from their faith, and they are unfulfilled and frustrated with their jobs.

Most of all, many in the church fear their daily work doesn’t matter to God. They believe that in order for their work to matter, they’ll have to quit their “secular” job and go into “full-time ministry.”

Nothing could be further from the truth. God’s plan for our lives and his design for our work are so much bigger than that.

The way many believers view the worth ofdifferent vocational fields in God’s kingdom.

A theologically-sound vision of workin God’s kingdom values all vocations.

“When Christians live holistic lives and integrate faith and work using all the tools God has given us – including economics – this results in the flourishing of both the community and individuals.”

Our work is just one way we carry out God’s command given in Genesis 1:28 to multiply and fill the earth. This command is God’s call to whole-life stewardship. All of our time, talents, and energies are put into carrying out this biblical call, and in doing so we bring about flourishing. We bring glimpses of hope to a dark world.

We can benefit from the pure joy and delight it brings not just to us and our neighbors, but to the thousands of anonymous strangers we can serve by using our gifts and talents to the best of our abilities. Stewardship requires freedom, an understanding of economic principles, and an environment that promotes our God-given creativity and purpose.

We are free in Christ to pursue the calling he places upon our lives. We also need freedom to fully embrace whole-life stewardship and help others do the same.
