An Exercise in Examining Ourselves

Page 2: IFTHISCOULDBESAIDOFEVERYCHRISTIAN

People are watching us! Your car even preaches for you when you are at the church building. 2 Cor. 3:2

Even though others are evaluating us, we need to examine ourselves. 2 Cor. 13:5; James 1:23-25

We can help each other get stronger and grow into being all that we can be in Christ! Eph. 4:13-16

Let’s earnestly ponder some ways that every Christian should strive to live in.

Page 3: IFTHISCOULDBESAIDOFEVERYCHRISTIAN

This is just what Jesus said about His disciples. Matthew 5:16, 13-14

Just think, the influence of salt in anything changes the flavor (environment). Our influence should make life tasteful not

tasteless! Job 6:6

Salt has a purifying quality too. Do others straighten up when you are around?

You are the light of the world! Reflecting Christ’s light is our responsibility. 2 Cor. 3:18

“If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new” (2 Cor. 5:17).

These things should be able to be said of you as a Christian. Why? Because in repentance you put away the old sinful self and put on the new Christ-like self! Romans 6:6-12

How? As described in Col. 3:10, “and have put on the new man who is renewed in knowledge according to the image of Him who created him”. It starts in the heart… Eph. 4:23

Page 5: IFTHISCOULDBESAIDOFEVERYCHRISTIAN

Do others see you express happiness? Matthew 5:8 This is a powerful quality of your godly

attitude.

We must have a diligent heart! Proverbs 4:23 Are you dead from the neck up? Here in body

but not in spirit? Mt. 15:8

How should we approach God? “Clean hands and a pure heart”. Ps. 24:3-4; 51:10; Is. 1:16-17 We must develop the righteous lifestyles which

God instructs.

Page 6: IFTHISCOULDBESAIDOFEVERYCHRISTIAN

Paul lived with an improper clear conscience.

Acts 23:1; 26:9

We need to be sure that we have a pure conscience based on God’s truth. Acts 24:16

We’re to live a holy life ready for the judgment day! Hebrews 10:24-25

We need to keep the Christian’s faith. Gal. 2:20

Page 7: IFTHISCOULDBESAIDOFEVERYCHRISTIAN

We must stand fast in the liberty of Christ. Galatians 5:1

Be steadfast, unmovable… 1 Cor. 15:58

We need to keep the faith as in Acts 2:25. Remember, that the Lord is with us always…

Heb. 13:5

Page 8: IFTHISCOULDBESAIDOFEVERYCHRISTIAN

Talking of the vainglory, pride of life or self… Proverbs 27:1

The boastful pride of life is of the world and not of God. 1 Jn. 2:15-17

We want to continue in God’s good grace so we do not want to be prideful. Jas. 4:6

Can this be said of you?

Page 9: IFTHISCOULDBESAIDOFEVERYCHRISTIAN

“I’m too tired,” “I don’t feel like it,” “I don’t want to,” “Something came up”… Where’s the Scripture showing that’s acceptable? Luke 9:62

We should never willfully miss an assembly of the church! Heb. 10:25

If we do then we sin, and there remains no more sacrifice for a willful sin! Heb. 10:26

We should be glad to go worship God and study God’s word! Psalm 122:1

Page 10: IFTHISCOULDBESAIDOFEVERYCHRISTIAN

We must desire God’s milk of the word that we may grow! 1 Peter 2:2

If we fail to do as we should in this, we will destroy ourselves as a result. Hos. 4:6

Ergo, we must grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and savior Jesus Christ! 2 Peter 3:18; Col. 3:16

What are you doing to help yourself grow?

Page 11: IFTHISCOULDBESAIDOFEVERYCHRISTIAN

We must do this to be approved unto God. 2 Tim. 2:15

We must be like Timothy was told to be! 1 Timothy 4:13, 15

We must be totally devoted to God’s teaching! “Think on these things. Devote your life to

them so that everyone can see your progress.” 1 Tim. 4:15 ISV

Can you honestly say what the Psalmist said in Ps. 119:97?

Page 12: IFTHISCOULDBESAIDOFEVERYCHRISTIAN

Jesus clearly told us to prioritize in this manner! Matthew 6:33

If you do, you will have all your basic needs provided! Mt. 6:30-32

A great example of putting God and His kingdom first… 2 Cor. 8:5-7

Is Christ’s church that important to you?

It should be!

Page 13: IFTHISCOULDBESAIDOFEVERYCHRISTIAN

Brother Paul was! Philippians 1:17

We need to prepare and defend the glorious gospel too! Jude 3

We must proclaim it regardless of the opposition! Acts 5:29, 42

By doing so you will save yourself and those who hear you! 1 Timothy 4:16

Page 14: IFTHISCOULDBESAIDOFEVERYCHRISTIAN

Be always abounding in the Lord’s work! 1 Cor. 15:58

Seeking to save the lost… Luke 19:10; 17:10

Keeping God’s commandments… Eccl. 12:13

All the while loving Christ as we should… John 14:15

Serving our greatest friend… Jn. 15:13-14

Do you serve God daily? Lk. 9:23; Ps.68:19

Page 15: IFTHISCOULDBESAIDOFEVERYCHRISTIAN

We should be living soberly, righteously and godly today! Titus 2:11-14

We should live holy lives in order to gain entry to the Kingdom of God. 1 Cor. 6:9-10

We may enter into the gates of heaven only if we do His commandments. Rev. 22:14

Page 16: IFTHISCOULDBESAIDOFEVERYCHRISTIAN

It is required in us just as with stewards that one be found faithful! 1 Corinthians 4:2

Jesus said if we are faithful unto death that we will receive the crown of life. Rev. 2:10

This is the promise of eternal life! 1 Jn. 2:25

Do you truly want eternal life? If so, then be faithful to Christ unto the end!

Page 17: IFTHISCOULDBESAIDOFEVERYCHRISTIAN

The world would be a better place, the church of Christ would grow exponentially, the glory of GOD would be renowned and the world would again be turned upside down with God’s faithful children proclaiming the powerful never changing saving Gospel of Jesus Christ!

Let’s change the world for the best! 2 Tim.2:21

It can be done! “I CAN!” Phil. 4:13

IT STARTS WITH US.
