Meaning International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) is a set of

accounting standards developed by an independent, not-for-profit

organization called the International Accounting Standards Board

(IASB).

IFRS are used by the business entities so that company accounts

are understandable , reliable , relevant and comparable across the

International boundaries.

History of IFRS

IFRS Standards that were issued by IASC (the predecessor of IASB) are

still in use today & are used as International Accounting

Standards (IAS), while standards issued by IASB are called IFRS. IAS

were issued between 1973 and 2001 by the Board of the International

Accounting Standards Committee (IASC).

Features of IFRS Represent the Fair presentation of an organization through the

assets, liabilies, Income & Expenses.

Its is based on the going concern concept unless the organization intends to liquidate.

IFRS Requires financial statement on annual basis to understand the current position of an organization.
