IF:PRAY JOURNAL

“... so that your faith might not rest in the wisdom of men but in the power of God.” 1 CORINTHIANS 2:2-5

In the Great Commission we find the call to “Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.” (Matthew 28:19 It is IN HIS NAME that we go. It is IN HIS NAME that we teach. It is IN HIS NAME that we step out in obedience.

In order to share Him, we must spend time with Him.

Tonight, we pray that women from all over the world will both privately and corporately come before God with a spirit of surrender. Each gathering of prayer will be unique. Each prayer different.

And every prayer will be heard.

Because it is IN HIS NAME that we pray.

A CALL TO WORSHIP

Declaring the characteristics of God allows us to claim the truth of who He is for our lives. We are freed and found in the truth of who God is, and not the lies of what the world tells us.

As we honor God for who He is, we begin to notice the hand of his work in our lives and we live in tune to His presence. May He be exalted by our awe in Him for being the only thing worthy of our worship.

Psalm 29:1-2 Ascribe to the Lord, O heavenly beings, ascribe to the Lord glory and strength. Ascribe to the Lord the glory due His name. Worship the Lord in the splendor of holiness.

1 Chronicles 29:11-14 Yours, O Lord, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the victory and the majesty, for all that is in the heavens and in the earth is yours. Yours is the kingdom, O Lord, and you are exalted as head above all. Both riches and honor come from you, and you rule over all. In your hand are power and might, and in your hand it is to make great and to give strength to all. And now we thank you, our God, and praise your glorious name. “But who am I, and what is my people, that we should be able thus to offer willingly? For all things come from you, and of your own have we given you.”

PROMPTS FOR PRAYER:

God, you are gracious.

“Who saved us and called us to a holy calling, not because of our works but because of his own purpose and grace…” - 2 Timothy 1:9-10

God, you are our Savior.

“...even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved.” - Ephesians 2:4-7

God, you are our Healer.

“But when he heard it, he said, “Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick.” - Matthew 9:12

God, you are the Spirit of Truth in Us.

“When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth, for he will not speak on his own authority, but whatever he hears he will speak, and he will declare to you the things that are to come.” - John 16:13

God, you are faithful.

“...if we are faithless, he remains faithful” - 2 Timothy 2:11-13

God, you are our Equipper.

“Now may the God of peace who brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, the great shepherd of the sheep, by the blood of the eternal covenant, equip you with everything good that you may do his will, working in us that which is pleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory forever and ever.” - Hebrews 13:20-21

A CALL TO REPENTANCE

Our brokenness constantly stands in the way of our faithfulness, but we rejoice in God’s great gift of redemption. Scripture tells us Jesus’ blood was poured out for the forgiveness of our sins. When we confess and ask for His forgiveness, we bring to light what has been hiding in the dark. When we confess, we humble ourselves before a mighty Savior. When we confess, He then has the ability to wash us clean. May we stand before our God, confessing our sin and our great need for Him, so that through Him we may turn away from our brokenness and step into His unending grace.

1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Acts 2:38 And Peter said to them, “Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.”

PROMPTS FOR PRAYER:

God, we confess our fear.

… of letting go. … of the unknown. … of vulnerability. “For God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control.” - 2 Timothy 1:7

God, we confess the division.

… in our homes. … in our churches.“...walk in a manner worthy of the calling to which you have been called, with all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love, eager to maintain the unity…” - Ephesians 4:1-7

God, we confess our self-absorption.

...with our appearance. ...with our comfort. ...with our agenda.“ (1) In the last days there will come times of difficulty. For people will be…. (4) lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having the appearance of godliness, but denying its power.” - 2 Timothy 3:1-5

God, we confess our doubt.

...in what you’ve promised. ...in your ability to heal. ...in your Church.“The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance.” - 2 Peter 3:9

A CALL TO GRATITUDE

Proclaiming our gratitude for the work of our gracious and merciful Father not only sets our hearts on Him, but it reminds us that our lives are not our own. At the end of the day we don’t lay our heads down thanking our own selves for being faithful and all-knowing, we thank the One who created us. We thank Him for who He is — Protector, Healer, Master, Father, Savior. It is because of Him that we have life and purpose, and approaching Him with a heart of gratitude puts our focus directly on Him and away from ourselves. Every good gift is from above.

Psalm 107:1 Give thanks to the Lord for He is good; for His steadfast love endures forever.

Psalm 103:1-5 Bless the Lord, O my soul, and all this within me, bless His holy name! Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits, who forgives all your iniquity, who heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit, who crowns you with steadfast love and mercy, who satisfies you with good so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.

PROMPTS FOR PRAYER:

God, we are thankful for the gift of community.

“But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin.” - 1 John 1:7

God, we are thankful for Scripture and Truth.

“I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life.” - John 14:1

God, we are thankful for a life with purpose.

“Therefore do not be ashamed of the testimony about our Lord, nor of me his prisoner, but share in suffering for the gospel by the power of God, who saved us and called us to a holy calling, not because of our works but because of his own purpose and grace” - 2 Timothy 1:8-11

God, we are thankful for your glory in our suffering.

“We rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, and hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us.” - Romans 5:3-5

God, we are thankful that we are never alone.

“For he has said, ‘I will never leave you nor forsake you.’” - Hebrews 13:5

God, we are thankful for your power in our weakness.

“But he said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.’ Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me.” - 2 Corinthians 12:9

A CALL TO ASK

As we sit at the feet of Jesus, may we approach Him with a spirit of humility as we make known the desires of our hearts. Ask the Lord for what you need. He’s a God who sees you and hears you — a God who knows you and loves you. He’s the Alpha and the Omega. No prayer is too big or too small for our God. Seek first His kingdom.

Philippians 4:6 Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.

Psalm 121:1 I lift up my eyes to the hills. From where does my help come? My help comes from the Lord who made heaven and earth.

PROMPTS FOR PRAYER:

God, we humbly ask for your Spirit to be made known.

...in our cities. ...in the way we lead others.“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.” - Acts 1:8

God, we humbly ask for Boldness...

...as we make disciples. ...as we step out in obedience. ...as we fight to stand firm in the truth you’ve given us through your Word.“And also for me, that words may be given to me in opening my mouth boldly to proclaim the mystery of the gospel” - Ephesians 6:19

God, we humbly ask for endurance.

...when the tasks before us seem unending. ...when every door seems like it is being shut in our faces. ...when we just don’t think we can run the race any longer.“Let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.” - Hebrews 12:1-2

God, we humbly ask for unity.

…in our cities. …as the body of Christ. So if there is any encouragement in Christ, any comfort from love, any participation in the Spirit, any affection and sympathy, complete my joy by being of the same mind, having the same love, being in full accord and of one mind.” - Philippians 2:1-2

God, we humbly ask for people to know Truth.

“That you may bring salvation to the ends of the earth.’” - Acts 13:47
