Chamber of Turkish Landscape Architects statement: Landscape Architecture should integrate the perception of place into a historical continuum of art and culture, and bring people, society and human habitats closer to each other for a peaceful world. …/… The memories that contribute to the collective memory over time are altered or lost, and as result, part of the social memory and urban culture are lost, they are deleted from our memories; today, technologies that can be used with the new, without destroying the past, can allow us to capture and protect common memory.

There are many memories we have to take care of : - Natural memories - thanks to geologic understanding of a place , example Aigues Morte’s water system - Communication - how we bring each other together - example: Roman time in Europe - Memory for those that have fight for our peace example memorial cemetery of WWI

The Ring of Memory, this memorial was created at the initiative of the Nord-Pas-de-Calais region as part of the celebrations of the centenary of the First World War, on a plateau that was the scene of fighting. extreme violence in 1914 and 1915. The names of nearly 580,000 men from all over the world are engraved without distinction of nationality, race, religion or rank. This tribute to all fighters, invites everyone to meditation and recalls the fragility of peace.

The image of "the circle of those who hold hands" inspired Philippe Prost and the landscape architect David Besson Girard the drawing of the ring to "give a form to the brotherhood, an expression for peace, combine art and nature to put them at the service of memory. Located on the hill of Notre-Dame-de-Lorette, it unfolds horizontally, overlooking the valley of Artois, on the edge of Flanders. The ellipse, consisting of high-performance fiber-reinforced concrete. There are 500 metal panels with the engraved names. The overall is a art work, creating a new landscape dimension for our collective Memory.

The central garden takes up the colours of the Memory Trail: Each flower representing one of the belligerent powers: Red poppies for those under UK military force; White forget-me-not for The Germans and blueberries for all the soldiers under French army force.
