    Immediate Action Card Survey the scene. Dont create a second patient. Stay Calm

    Make sure the area is safe for rescuers and bystanders. Evaluate hazards such as avalanche ,flood, fire, etc.

    Call 9-1-1 Instruct a bystander to call 911 and proceed:

    The ABCs of Emergency ResponseSurvey the patient in the following order of priorityregardless of patients level of responsiveness.

    A. Airway : Check for an open airway. Perform the head tilt-chin lift to open airway if necessary. If you can see anobject in the airway, remove it. Be careful to not disturbthe patients spine if the head and/or spine injury issuspected.

    B. Breathing: Check for adequate breathing. Look, listenand feel. If patient is not breathing, give two slow,normal breathes per CPR instructions.

    C. Circulation: Check for signs of circulation: carotid pulse, breathing, coughing, movement. If no circulation, start

    CPR. Check for major bleeding and control as required.D. Disability: Maintain manual stabilization of the spine,head, neck & back.

    E. Environment / Expose: Assess and treat environmentalthreats. Expose serious injuries in order or priority.

    CONTINUE WITHTWO BREATHES AND30 PUMPS UNTILSIGNS OF PULSE APPEAR
