if you do not do something you like

SHOULD AN ASPIRING STUDENT GO FOR A COURSE WHICH IS IN DEMAND OR FOR A COURSE WHICH HE/SHE LIKES?
Introduction:
The student should go for the course that they want because it’s their Enjoyment that is
important rather than pressure of society of what is demand/not. But still it’s their choice,
so think wisely & don’t force them in a thing that they may regret in end how to choose
once career? Do an analysis with open mind. The student alone knows that one particular
course they may not like because of superficial knowledge about it. Just analyses, try to
find out the contents of the course, its objective, relevant subjects, the fundamentals, etc.
Just before taking judgment about likes & dislikes. Nowadays, we can see a lot of
overlapping between different courses. Do a thorough research &analysis & then take
decision.
The best course to study is the one that leads to your overall career goals and objectives.
Thus, I would imagine you do not have anything specific at this time. So many
individuals enroll in college programs without a specific goal in mind. As such, many
become miserable in their work which is not good for them, or their employer. If you
want to be successful in your work and personal life, carefully consider the following.
To be successful in your work, you must acquire a vision. A vision is a clearly articulated
picture of the future you intend to create for yourself. In other words, it's a dream.
However, if the dream does not have direction, it will always remain a dream and will
never become a reality for you. That vision should create a passion within you, a love for
what you do and the benefit it will bring to others as well as yourself. Make sure the
vision is specific, measurable, attainable, realistic, and tangible. Let us look at this closer.
When you believe you have chosen an appropriate career goal, look at it in SMART
fashion as follows.
Specific
Make sure your career goal is very specific. For example, "I would like to be a
teacher," is not specific. "I would like to be a high school biology teacher in New
Jersey (USA) in an urban school by 2012" is.
Measurable
Make sure you can measure your progress. How will I know I am progressing in the
right direction? This is where the development of short-term objectives comes in
(discussed below). You will know you are on the right path as you accomplish each
short -term objective.
Achievable
Is the goal achievable considering my current life situation and circumstances?
Realistic
Is what I want to do really realistic. For example, "I would like to be a middle weight
boxing champion, and I am 63 years old." That is not realistic.
Tangible
What will I - specifically - have at the end? What will I be (exactly)? It must be very
specific.
Educational Technology on Demand
Once you acquire that vision your path will become clear. Still, you will need a mentor,
counselor, or coach who will be able to help you develop a road map embedded with
short-term objectives leading to your overall career goals and objectives. The
achievement of short-term objectives will indicate you are moving in the correct
direction, and will also give you energy and excitement to carry on towards your overall
career goal. It will take some research, but you most likely have some ideas already.
Follow them through, look at the nature of the field, the everyday routine, the required
education, the salary, the occupational demand and the related fields. When a career
sparks an interest, try to shadow an individual who is actually doing what you think you
might like to do. You can pick up valuable information this way. Thus, the following
acquire the will to change circumstances. Acquire the vision (dream).Develop a road-map
embedded with short-term objectives leading to your overall goal and objective. The
student should go for the course that they want because it's their enjoyment that is
important rather than pressure of society of what is demand/not. But still it's their choice,
so think wisely & don't force them in a thing that they may regret in end. Do an analysis
with open mind. The student alone knows that one particular course they may not like
because of superficial knowledge about it. Just analysis, try to find out the contents of the
course, its objective, relevant subjects, the fundamentals, etc. Just before taking judgment
about likes & dislikes. Nowadays, we can see a lot of overlapping between different
courses. Do a thorough research & analysis, & then take decision.
The student should go for the course which he/she like and have interest in. If he goes for
a course which he doesn't like than it will become a burden for him. He will not be
interested in learning anything extra beside the syllabus. So for better future and life he
should so with the course which he likes as during whole life it will help him and he
would be keen to learn new things about it
I have seen lots of people suffering by opting a course decided by the parents. How is it
possible to study something in others interests? Every individual has their own option to
live. They have freedom in all aspects other than taking decisions of their own. Why is it
so? The answer to this is that they lack self confidence. In my opinion students should
take any course of their interest in which they feel they could do well. It’s not just the
matter of decision, but it could be their turning point. Then only there will be some
interest in the carrier and also their life.
Parents should allow their children to opt for the field in which the children have an
aptitude or liking instead of forcing them to choose the field which is in much demand. In
case the child is interested in a particular field and if he / she is forced to join a different
field which he / she might not be interested in, then the child might not fair well in the
field and this will in no way help him / her in fetching a good job in future. So parents
should be aware of the fact that children should be allowed to choose the field in which
the child shows interest as this will help in his improving the child's efficiency. Today,
the nature of education has been changed. Whatever we like is now a subject. So, why
don't study what we want to. Think what you are looking for a job or a career. Even are
you chasing others or inventing before than others. These are the things that we should be
aware of while going for higher studies.
A new application we call my Tools, known commercially as Softricity, differentiates
Northeastern on Demand from other remote access solutions. This application took us
into new technological territory through a streamed, virtualized application-delivery
model.
In a large and diverse university, workstation and software availability often become
problematic. Expense and heterogeneous workstation requirements result in faculty, staff,
and students having a broad variety of workstations that must be supported without the
benefit of standardization. Additionally, the desktop software required varies widely by
discipline, role, enrollment, and preference, such as the multiple types of statistical
software packages preferred by individual faculty members even when teaching different
sections of the same course.
During our exploration period, we found current technologies for delivering desktop
applications unsatisfactory because they were not scalable or could “break” an
individual’s machine all too easily. Citrix and other server-based delivery would not scale
to our needs. Workstation ghosting or imaging technologies are destructive, since they all
start with the equivalent of “format the hard drive.” Direct software installation is overly
complex (the famous “DLL Hell”) and inflexible in terms of supporting multiple versions
of a given package on a single workstation. Additionally, many vendors strictly limit use
of their software on personal machines. My Tools delivery permits an individual to
access the specific software required, on any workstation, while leveraging the
university’s site licensing.
With Northeastern on Demand, the software required by an individual (based on their
role, discipline, enrollments, and so forth) will be dynamically delivered to any available
Internet-connected workstation through streamed delivery. When a customer selects a
software package from his or her personal menu on the my NEU portal, the Softricity
technology on Northeastern servers streams a virtual PC environment onto the
workstation and then streams a “virtual copy” of the requested application into that
environment. From the user’s perspective, the application operates exactly as if it were
installed on the workstation; in fact, it executes using the workstation’s resources. When
a user working on a public workstation, such as at a library or Internet cafe, finishes using
the application, saves his or her work to my Files (Internet-based file store—see the next
section), and logs off my NEU, the environment and access to the applications are
deleted, preventing a subsequent user from accessing the prior user’s applications or data.
For example, assume the engineering department has purchased specialized software,
licensed for all engineering faculty and for a concurrent number of electrical engineering
majors. Typically, such specialized software is only accessible in specialty computer labs.
With Northeastern On Demand, an engineering faculty member or an electrical
engineering major can log onto my NEU and be identified, through attributes coded
though the registrar and other systems, as authorized to access this specialized software.
The student can use the software for a specified period (usually a semester), as often and
for as long per session as necessary. The software itself remains on the campus server.
Should the student drop the course requiring the software, access to the software is
revoked. This capability has far-reaching possibilities for teaching and learning
