ROBOFEST
•Robofest is IEEE-VESIT’s Curtain-raiser for every academic year. It is also one of the most awaited events as enthusiastic second years prepare to field their robots in the various events at Robofest.
•A workshop is conducted prior to the event to help the members learn the nuances of robotics. Around 150 members attended the workshop.
•Robofest’08 included:
Robosoccer: Teams had to design their bot with a mechanism to kick the ball.100 members participated in the event. The teams had a memorable experience and so did the huge crowd witnessing the matches.
See-Saw: The robots had to navigate up and down a see-saw as many times as they could within a specified time. This event was designed to check the balance, maneuverability and speed of the bot.

Web-Designing WorkshopWeb-Designing Workshop
The Web-Designing workshop helped the members gain an effective knowledge of Adobe Photoshop, CSS, Microsoft Frontpage and basic HTML.
The workshop was conducted by our Web-Editor Noel Sequeira.
Member teams were assigned mentors to guide them throughout the workshop.
The workshop was followed by a web-designing contest in which members had to design their own website.
The response for the contest was overwhelming.

IEEE PUBLICATIONSIEEE PUBLICATIONS The IEEE publishes more then 30% of the worlds literature in electrical engineering, computer science and related fields and IEEE journals and publications remain at top sites in their respective fields.
Every member is provided with a subscription to the monthly technical journal SPECTRUM. It is published by IEEE U.S. and provides information for the advancement of science bringing to its readers the latest happenings around the world in the field of science and technology.
It is a matter of great pride for IEEE-VESIT to have an All-Mumbai publication – ‘Short Circuit’.It is released in our annual symposium in March.It provides the most cutting edge technologies,the latest research,professional awareness and profiles of eminent personalities.
IEEE-VESIT’s publication is the ‘INNOVATION’. Articles are contributed by the student members. The articles not only make an interesting read but also provide assistance and direction while writing theoretical and technical papers.
IEEE 360IEEE 3600
IEEE 360 degrees is an IEEE Bombay Section inter-collegiate annual festival.
Five colleges from mumbai host various events of the festival.VESIT being one of them hosts the online events viz., Online treasure hunt,digital logic circuit design, C-programming contest and web designing contest.
There is a wide range of fun-filled and technical events. The festival lasts for a period of one week and is attended by tech-enthusiasts.
The IEEE360degrees website is designed by our web-editors and had 8576 hits last year.

Java WorkshopJava Workshop
The Java workshop was conducted for the first time by IEEE-VESIT in the college.
It was a one-day workshop attended by around 80 members.
The applications of Java were explained in depth and the session was very interactive with members asking their doubts.
The workshop was followed by a competition to great a java based application or game.
Industrial VisitIndustrial Visit
The Industrial Visit is synonymous with IEEE.One of the most awaited events, it is held in the vacation between the odd and even semesters. It is one night, two day visit with all expenses borne by IEEE-VESIT. It is attended by around 200 members.
The main objective of this visit is to give the students an insight into the recent development in the industry and to help them think beyond mere textual data.The industrial visit helps the students understand how the technology is applied and how mass production is done.

Article Writing & Technical Paper PresentationArticle Writing & Technical Paper Presentation
In order to explore the writing and compiling talent in our members, IEEE-VESIT announced its ‘Article Writing’ competition.
The editorial team scrutinized every article and the selected ones were published in ‘Innovation’ and ‘Short-Circuit’.
The next event to follow was the Technical Paper Presentation contest. It is important for an engineer to learn the intricacies of writing a technical paper.
Mentors were available for the second years to provide assistance and guidance. The judges for the event was the Vice Principal.
IEEE, thus provided its members, a platform to present their vision and scope for technology in future.
This event helped the members gain a first-hand experience of writing a technical paper and assisted them in IEEE K.Shankar national-level technical paper presentation.
Melange’09Melange’09Melange is the All-Bombay Symposium of IEEE-VESIT Student Branch. Melange means Confluence. It is a technical conference that is aimed at engineering students who want to learn more about the finer technical aspects.
Technology today is reaching dizzying heights. The focus today is to encourage research to develop cutting-edge yet cost-effective technologies. The challenge is to bring about an awareness among the youth of technology and thus open the doors of this journey to them.
This is exactly what we have in mind as we set out to give this challenge a direction and a meaningful course. Melange is but a tool, endeavoring to demonstrate to our valued student members, this new world. It is a convergence-a forum to bring together ideas and technologies from all fields of engineering.
Last year, as every year the auditorium was filled to capacity with 400 members. Our chief-guest for Melange’09 was Mr.Sachidanand Malewar( proprietor of Nex-Robotics ).He addressed the gathering on the present scenario in the field of robotics and the future in this field. He is an alumni of VESIT and thus got along very well with our student members.
All our members, successful in our various event were felicitated and our Chairperson addressed the audience about the vision and achievements of IEEE-VESIT.
