IEEE-SA is not linked to any government organization– Participants creating IEEE standards come together to develop them

independently– Projects are either individual (one person, one vote) or corporate

(one company, one vote)

Some IEEE standards groups allow participation in their meetings via electronic tools

– Often combined with a level of in-person meeting attendance
