published that will replace EN 13980 and IECEx OD-005-1. During the next audit, the requirements of 80079-34 will be applied.
2. The purchase order for the coil wire included a drawing that stated "SEE 'ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENT' – DRAWING NUMBER 3033-A". Neither the drawing nor the "Additional drawing" had drawing numbers. It is suggested that all

drawings, especially those being sent with purchase orders, be numbered to create a clear reference.
3. Clauses 4.2.3 (b) and (d) state that a documented procedure and system must be in place to ensure manufacturer's documents (related drawings, sale literature, etc.) must be compatible with equipment documents (schedule drawings). The ECO process does ensure this is happening but I suggest a formal procedure is written up to describe the "Where Used" process that occurs as discussed during the audit.
4. Further to NCR NV-7, it is recommended that all areas of the quality policy that reference ISO 9001:2008 are reviewed and the standards EN 13980:2002 and IECEx OD 005-1, 1st edition and their requirements are added as applicable.

Only those products bearing the UL Recognized Component Mark should be considered as being covered by UL's Recognition and Follow-Up Service.
The UL Recognized Component Mark generally consists of the manufacturer’s identification and catalog number, model number or other product designation as specified under “Marking” for the particular Recognition as published in the appropriate UL Directory. As a supplementary means of identifying products that have been produced under UL’s Component Recognition Program, UL’s Recognized Component Mark: , may be used in conjunction with the required Recognized Marks. The Recognized Component Mark is required when specified in the UL Directory preceding the recognitions or under “Markings” for the individual recognitions.
Recognized components are incomplete in certain constructional features or restricted in performance capabilities and are intended for use as components of complete equipment submitted for investigation rather than for direct separate installation in the field. The final acceptance of the component is dependent upon its installation and use in complete equipment submitted to UL LLC. Look for the UL Recognized Component Mark on the product.

*TECHNICAL CONSIDERATIONS (NOT FOR FIELD REPRESENTATIVE USE):
*Use - For use only in products where the acceptability of the
combination is determined by UL LLC.
USR – Indicates investigation to UL Standard for Electrically Operated
Valves, UL 429, Fifth Edition.
Conditions of Acceptability:
1. These valves are for use within other equipment which provide an
adequate electrical enclosure.
2. The spade terminals are not intended for field wiring.
3. The suitability of the grounding spade terminal shall be
determined in the end use product.
*4. The GEM-V and GEM-H valve Series are intended to be mounted to a
suitable manifold. The need for external leakage and hydrostatic strength
tests should be reviewed on the end use product.
*5. The temperature test for the GEM-V valve Series was conducted
with a three position base plate manifold. If the number of valves is greater
than three on the manifold, consideration shall be given to conducting an
additional temperature test.
*6. The temperature test for the GEM-H valve Series was conducted
while mounted to a single position aluminum baseplate manifold with dimensions
of 1-3/8 by 1-1/4 by 5/8 in. If the number of valve positions on the manifold
is greater than one consideration shall be given to conducting an additional
temperature test is necessary on the end use product.
7. The suitability of No. 20 AWG flying leads shall be determined in
the end-use application.
TEST TO BE CONDUCTED BY THE MANUFACTURER:
Each valve shall be subjected to an operation test at the maximum rated
pressure differential.
*MARKINGS:
The Recognized Company's name or trademark, and electrical rating in
volts, Hz, and watts appear on a pressure sensitive label affixed to the coil.
See ILL. A for details. The catalog number appears on a separate pressure
sensitive label attached to the valve body.

TEST RECORD NO. 4
SAMPLES:
Samples of the general purpose valves, Series 3000, 5000, 7000, and 9000
were submitted by the applicant to receive a new Product Numbering system
(nomenclature). This new nomenclature changes the Series 3000 and 5000 into
the new Series GEM-A; the Series 7000 into the new Series GEM-V; and the
Series 9000 into the Series GEM-H. Additionally, drawings were to be updated
to their latest revisions.
General:
Since the new drawings did not change any critical dimensions or
features and the changes to the file were editorial in nature only, no testing
was considered necessary based on engineering judgment that valve performance
is not affected by these changes.
TEST RECORD SUMMARY:
The results of this investigation, including construction review and
testing, indicate that the product(s) evaluated comply with the applicable
requirements in the Standard for Electrically Operated Valves, UL 429, Fifth
Edition (Revised December 12, 2008) and therefore, such products are judged
eligible to bear UL’s Mark as described on the Conclusion Page of this Report.
Any information and documentation involving UL Mark services are provided on
behalf of UL LLC (UL) or any authorized licensee of UL.

TEST RECORD NO. 2 SAMPLES: Samples of the general purpose valves, Series 1000, 2000, and 4000 were submitted by the applicant to receive a new Product Numbering system (nomenclature). This new nomenclature combines the Series 1000, 2000, and 4000 into new Series GEM-S. Additionally, drawings were to be updated to their latest revisions. General:
Since the new drawings did not change any critical dimensions or features and the changes to the file were editorial in nature only, no testing was considered necessary based on engineering judgment that valve performance is not affected by these changes. TEST RECORD SUMMARY: The results of this investigation, including construction review and testing, indicate that the product(s) evaluated comply with the applicable requirements in the Standard for Electrically Operated Valves, UL 429, Fifth Edition (Revised December 12, 2008) and therefore, such products are judged eligible to bear
UL’s Mark as described on the Conclusion Page of this Report. Any information and documentation involving UL Mark services are provided on behalf of UL LLC (UL) or any authorized licensee of UL. Test Record by: Reviewed by: Scott Crary Alberto Gomez Engineer Senior Project Engineer
