NOVEWER 9 1948 NATIONAL RADIO CLUB DX NEWS PACE BOARD NEWS f o r MEMBERS . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

The following i s information of the doings of t h e Boa~-d of Direc- t o r s of t h e National Radio Club f o r the members.

Your Board Chairman sent out a revised l i s t of Rules and Regula- t i ons t o bring up t o d a t e a s e t of Rules t ha t w i l l and can govern our club. This s e t was t o el.iminate un-necessary items and put t e e th i n t o the ones t h a t a r e necessary. The o ther Board members were asked t o corn- msnt on t h e new s e t and suggest anything they thought was un-nessarv o r anything they thought was he lp fu l* Suggestions were received and there were 7 i tems voted upon. They being too long t o re-publish here, So You members w i l l not know ju s t what they a r e u n t i l you receive the new up t o date Rules i n the near fu tu re . However you can be sure t ha t none of them design t o t e l l you how t o conduct your personal a f f a i r s , but only i n s o f a r as DXing i s concerned and how t o conduct your s e l f i n r e l a t i o n t o being an NRC Member. Of the 7 items voted upon, a l l were passed by a majority, 4 passed with 10 YES and 0 NOS. 2 passed YES 9 NO 1 and the other i tem passed YE6 7 No 3.

The 1.948-49 BCB Contest was a l s o passed by a vote of 9 YES and 1 NO. Edge-Carberry-Reilley-R Cooper-E Cooper-E Addy-L Kruse-H Wagner-Johanns voting YES and HERZ voting NO.

Now comes the sad par t . Your Board Chairman v i s i t e d Dick Cooper & Harold Wagner over the week end of Oct 16-17th. Dick informed me t h a t pr ices on Paper-envel.opes e t c have gone up, This i n f o was given Wagner the next day and Hal promised t o f i g u r e the cos t of t h e bull.etins and give me the resu1.t. However I then received word from our good member, Mort Meehan tha t 3rd c l a s s postage r a t e s go up beginning January 1 1949 and our bu l l e t i n s w i l l . co s t 2~ f o r 2 ounces ins tead of 1-1/26 which adds 17# per year per member f o r mailing t h e i r bu l l e t i n s . This in fo was rushed t o Harold and he then came back with the t o t a l f i gu re s . He a l so suggssted t h a t we t r y t o c rea te a surp1.u~ i n order t o replace our mimeograph nach- i ne sometime i n 1950 or 51 and i n the mean time t r y t o ge t some kind of' a regular type typmvriter f o r Lefty because i t has been prooven by the Remington-Rand man along with our own personal experience t h a t the s t y l e of type i n Leftys typewriter doesnt cu t a s good a s t e n c i l a s the type you a r e now reading. So with the increase i n paper-envelopes-postage and i n t ry ing t o c r ea t e a l i t t l e surplus the following was put t o t h e Board f o r a vote. The r e s u l t s were t o increase the yearly NRC Dues t o $3.00 per year e f f ec t i ve January 1 1949. So a l l renewals on memberships expiring on or a f t e r January 1 1949 w i l l be $3.00 per year regard1.ess i f they a r e paid before t h a t da te o r no t . The reason i s t h a t i f vie al- lowed members t o pay now and take advantage of a 5 0 ~ saving, the cos t of t h e i r next year b u l l e t i n s would be increased by 17$ which would be money taken from the club, thus hindering our plans. However we a r e the l a s t DX Club t o r a i s e our dues and i t must be remembered we a re the only DX Club s t i l l i ssuing W F E G Y BULLETINS. The vote on the increase was YES by Edge-Carberry-DICK COOPER-Reilley-Johanns-Wagner-Herz-Kruse- Addy ; N O by E COOPEFL. (only enlargened the Coopers so they would not be mixed up) The Board a l s o all.ows Harold Wagner t o increase the p r i ce of Re o r t Forms from 756 t o 85# per 100 postpaid and the Letter-heads ZI from 56 t o 754 per 100 postpaid. This too was necessary and a l l 1@ Board members voted f o r t h a t increase. The increase of Report Forms & Let te r Heads becomes e f f ec t i ve immediatel? A new supply i s being p r i n t - ed bv Dick Coo~e r .

-So with b e s t wishes f o r k swell DLSeason and loads of ver ies , I am Very f r i end ly yours f i '(Y8ard Chairman, N.R.C.

NOVEWER 9 1948 NATIONAL RADIO CLUB DX NEWS PAGE BOARD .NEWS f o r MEWERS

_ _ - - - _ - _ _ _ _ _ _ - - _ - _ _ _ - _ - - d - - - - - - - - - -

The following i s information of the doings of t h e Board of Direc- t o r s of the National Radio Cl.ub f o r the members.

Your Board Chairman sent out a revised l i s t of Rules and Regula- t ions t o bring up t o da t e a set of Rules t ha t w i l l and can govern our club. This s e t was t o el iminate un-necessary items and put t e e t h i n t o the ones t h a t a r e necessary. The other Board members were asked t o Cam- ment on the new s e t and suggest anything they thought was un-nessary or anything they thought was he lpfu l , Suggestions were received and there were 7 items voted upon. They being too long t o re-publish here, so you meinbers wil.1 not lulow jus t what they a r e u n t i l you receive the new up t o da te Rules i n the near fu tu re . However you can be sure t h a t none of them design t o t e l l you how t o conduct your personal a f f a i r s , but only i n S O f a r a s DXing i s concerned and how t o conduct your s e l f i n r e l a t i o n t o being an NRC Member. Of the 7 items voted upon, a l l were passed by a majority, 4 passed with 10 YES and 0 NOS. 2 passed YES 9 No 1 and t h e other i tem passed YES 7 No 3.

The 1.948-49 BCB Contest was a l so passed by a vote of 9 YES and 1 NO. Edge-Carberry-Reilley-R Cooper-E Cooper-E Addy-L Kruse-H Wagner-J0han.S voting YES and HER2 voting NO.

Now comes the sad par t . Your Board Chairman v i s i t e d Dick Cooper & Harold Wagner over the week end of Oct 16-17th. Dick informed me t h a t pr ices on Paper-envel.opes e t c have gone up, This i n fo was given Wagner the next day and Hal promised t o f i gu re the cos t of the bu l l e t i n s and give me the r e s u l t . However I then received word from our good member, Mort Meehan t h a t 3rd c l a s s postage r a t e s go up beginning January 1 1949 and our bu l l e t i n s wil.1 cos t 2k f o r 2 ounces instead of 1-1/2$ which adds 17@ per year per member f o r mail.ing t h e i r bu l l e t i n s . This i n fo was rushed t o Harold and he then came back with t h e t o t a l f i gu re s . He a l so suggssted t h a t we t r y t o c rea te a surplus i n order t o replace our mimeograph nac5- ine sometime i n 1950 or 51 and i n the mean time t r y t o ge t some kind of a regular type typwwriter f o r Lefty because it has been prooven by tho Remington-Rand man along with our own personal experience t h a t the s t y l e of type i n Leftys typewriter doesnt cu t a s good a s t e n c i l a s the type you a r e now reading. So with the increase i n paper-envelopes-postage and i n t ry ing t o c r ea t e a l i t t l e surplus the following was put t o the Board f o r a vote. The r e s u l t s were t o increase the year ly NRC Dues t o $3.00 per year e f f ec t i ve January 1 1949. So a l l renewals on memberships expiring on or a f t e r January 1 1949 w i l l be $3.00 per year regardless i f they a r e paid before t h a t da t e o r no t . The reason i s tha t i f we a l - lowed members t o pay now and take advantage of a 506 saving, the cos t of t h e i r next year b u l l e t i n s would be increased by 176 which would be money taken from the club, thus hindering our plans. However we a r e the l a s t DX Club t o r a i s e our dues and i t must be remembered we a re t h e only DX Club s t i l l i s su ing WEEKLY BULLETINS. The vote on the inc rease was YES by Edge-Carberry-HICK COOPER-Reilley-Johanns-Wagner-Herz-Kruse- Addy ; NO by E COOPER. (only enlargened the Coopers so they would not be mixed up) The Board a l s o allows Harold Wagner t o increase the p r ice of Report Forms from 754 t o 858 per 100 postpaid and t h e Le.tter-heads from 65$ t o 754 per 100 postpaid. This too was necessary and 211 10 Eoard members voted f o r t h a t increase. The increase of Report Forms & Le t t e r Heads becomes e f f ec t i ve immediately A new supply i s being p r in t - ed by Dick Cooper.

So with b e s t wishes f o r k swell DLSeason and loads of ver ies . I am Very f r i end ly yours
