Task 1: Write a Simile and Metaphor about Mr Barry.
Idioms and their meanings
Let the cat out of the bag - Give away a secret
On thin ice - On probation. If you make another mistake, there will be trouble.
Rain on someone's parade - To spoil something
The elephant in the room - The big issue, the problem people are avoiding
Actions speak louder than words - Believe what people do and not what they say
Jump on the bandwagon - Follow a trend, do what everyone else is doing
Like riding a bicycle - Something you never forget how to do
On cloud nine - Very happy
Model Poem
I'm a fun guy *fungi*, and good for your mind like mushrooms.
No time for the haters and like dust I will brush you.
Off of my shoulders don't want beef so just hush dude.
But push the wrong buttons and trust me I will diss you.
To my friends and fam I'm bright like summer sunshine;
Got no ceilings, my potential is cloud nine.
As I step high, haters say I left my roots;
I am pressed apple juice and you sir are a fruit shoot.

Continuing our diary entries.
Slow write
[ ] Begin the first paragraph explaining what’s going on right now. Use your senses to support you.
[ ] Explain what you are and how you cannot wait until you are back at home
[ ] Begin the next paragraph explaining where you were and how, all of a sudden, you were thrown into the mouth. This is where the teeth and saliva broke you down and forced you to the back. Ensure you talk about how you felt using exciting vocabulary.
[ ] The next paragraph is about the oesophagus and the journey into the stomach. Talk about the stomach acid breaking you down.
[ ] Explain that you have entered the small intestine and how this takes away your nutrients and provides this to the rest of the body. Then explain that you are inside the large intestine. Remember that this is where food is stripped of its water before finally reaching the exit (rectum)

TASK: Your task is to create a project based on one woman of Science. This project should be primarily either a PowerPoint presentation, video or large poster. You can do this online or on paper, it is up to you.
We would also like you to add other creative features to your project, not just a PowerPoint presentation. For example, maybe you could create your own word search or cross word puzzle of your chosen woman and add this to your presentation/project? Draw a portrait of your chosen woman, or create something arty based on her achievements? You could even design a front cover of a book based on their life, adding images of what they are famous for.
Checklist
Key information like name, date of birth and death, where they were born, where they grew up, background information...
What area of Science they work/worked in.
What sort of accomplishments do they have to their name? Eg: what have they achieved through their work in Science? What are they famous for?
What was the inspiration or motivation behind their choice of career in Science?
Explain how the world is different today because of their achievements in Science.
How might the world be different without this woman?
What do you admire about her?
