How would you feel if you knew at this moment, thatsome criminal is using your credit card number andplans to charge thousands of dollars worth ofmerchandise on that credit card?
More importantly, how do you know thisis not happening? Millions of peoplehave become victims of identity theftand they often find out only afterthousands ofdollars have been stolen using theirnames.
Identity theft is not only related to theloss of money, but also additionalfinancial costs associated with trying torestore their reputation in thecommunity and correcting erroneousinformation for which the criminal isresponsible.

Skimming is stealing credit /debit card numbers with a device that reads and decodes the information encoded in the magnetic strip on the back of your credit or debit cards.

Blank cards can be bought and using a credit card encoder can put your credit card info into the blank card making available for the criminal to use it.

Conclusion
Identity theft is on the rise, with a growing number of Canadians being targeted. According to the Canadian Anti-Fraud Center in April 2014 the total number of complaints were 3,712 reports.
The more we do to protect our personal information the less are the chances in becoming a victim.
