Jesus was not an accidental product ofthe environment like an evolved

primate but the Word from Heaven thatopposes the spiritualising of animals.

He stood up to the dark spiritual forcebehind ideas being taught about the

independence of man and the impotenceof God. He spoke to cultured men whoresponded as predicted - with violence.

Jesus was murdered by people who didn’t like his words.Words that expounded an identity outside of, and indeed inspite of, the cultural, social and psychological normsprevailing at the time; the same norms that prevail today.The charge of blasphemy was the main grounds on whichthe machinery of State and Religion found Jesus worthy ofthe death penalty. From the written fragments that havesurvived purges we can see how the State authority of theday had already decided to murder him for ‘blasphemy’before his ‘trial (by jury)’.1 This account typifies some of theweaknesses inherent in a secular justice system.

Blasphemy comes in different shapes and sizes.According to these confusing definitions of blasphemy,Jesus, the Son of God, committed the crime of insulting,offending God his Father by impiously speaking irreverentwords addressed to, or used in reference to God, andbehaving in such a manner that showed his lack of respectfor God or religion.

For example when speaking of those who thought theywere serving God by murdering his disciples do you thinkhe was blaspheming God?

“They will put you out of the synagogue; in fact, a time iscoming when anyone who kills you will think he is offering aservice to God. They will do such things because they havenot known the Father or me.” 2

Note; here, Jesus redefines killing as murder bydisassociating a divine cause, stripping it of beingassociated with the notion of divine unction, which in theOld Testament days was an act defined as the will of God(because they neither fully knew the identity of God northerefore of themselves).

Jesus was thrown out of the synagogue by worshipperswhen, as it is recorded, he decided to speak from the frontfor the first time and proclaim his identity as the Messiah.He did it in the synagogue where all the worship of nationalicons and Jewish heroes took place. They were offended byhis comments about their ancestors. It could be argued thatJesus blasphemed against their xenophobic belief in anidentity exemplified by their forefathers whose behaviour he

sometimes criticised. Certainly this incident raises morequestions about the meaning of blasphemy.

One avenue of thought that might lever a betterunderstanding of how to go about defining blasphemy is toask the question, ‘what kind of blasphemy was Jesusaccused of, since there are so many kinds?’ The answerperhaps can be seen in the way the Priests and the Lawyerstook offence at his consistent affirmation of his identity asthe Son of God. They simply could not hack his hereticalline of thinking, their cultural conditioning had broughtsteel shutters down on their minds which stone walled theSpirit of God standing in front of them in the flesh. Instead,they listened to their own schema induced by centuries ofworshipping their own historical narrative, which Jesusalerted them to when he said, ‘I know you are Abraham’sdescendents. Yet you are ready to kill me, because you haveno room for my word. I am telling you what I have seen inthe Father’s presence, and you do what you have heard fromyour father.’ 3 By using this reference to two fathers Jesus issuggesting they were hearing something from God thatopposed what he heard as his Son. What they had heardfrom their father depends on what kind of father he was tothem. Certainly, in the context of this dialogue, their fatherwas not the same as Jesus’ Father and the connotation is aspiritual one.

People in the Old Testament days had sought thepaternal covering of God as the father of their nation,precipitating the need for priests and teachers to mediatehis divine will, but in their dialogue they conveyed fatherlyattributes alien to his Son and later they acted harshly onwhat they believed to be an attribute of his divine will.Their inquisitorial reasoning ‘Are you equal with God?’ led

them to conclude that he was blaspheming and then ledthem to switch personalities from being caring leaders ofthe community (a conflicting persona I rather suspect) tobeing judge and executioner in accordance with the spiritualand psychological schema of the Old Testament culturalperceptions of God. Later on in this dialogue Jesusintimated that their father was in fact Satan. Ancestorworship of this kind is personified here by Jesus as theenemy of God.

Well, bad news for these guys then. Not only were theyreading off the script that conditioned their minds tomurder God’s Son but they used it as a divine template fornot only denying outsiders the right to become sons anddaughters of God but for stoning to death those theydeemed as ‘sinners’. As their offspring still do today.

“Woe to you, teachers..., you hypocrites! You travel overland and sea to win a single convert, and when he becomesone, you make him twice as much a son of hell as you are.” 4

Instead of making converts to a loving God the teacherswere busy converting people to become sons and daughtersof their ways and their traditions. Jesus also intimates thatbecause their knowledge of God is so ill conceived, instead ofwinning converts to God, they were converting people tobeing sons and daughters of a God made in their ownimagination, which he described as a hellish one.

This dialogue between Christ and the Jewish priestlyhierarchy reveals more about the unreliability of theBiblical canon as a true representation of the character andform of God than we would dare to imagine. Theologians areunwilling to face up to the dichotomy between the Old and

New portrayal of God because of the imposition of thepremise upon which the canon was constructed. The canontotally confuses the heart of the matter concerning the trueidentity of God as Father. Our identity as his children iscompromised also by the canon. The issue of God’s identityand our identity is fully resolved now that Jesus hasremoved the sin that keeps his identity hidden. As well asremoving the blindness that conceals his eternal identity heswept aside the culture of exclusivity that normally keeppeople out and rebuked those who clung to small mindedtraditions that maintained exclusivity through a hierarchyof status. He regarded priestly status and political power inthe hands of people who didn’t know God at all well as arecipe for the ‘blind leading the blind’. He attacked theanecdotal authority of traditions they were inspired by,which conditioned them to be priests of murder and hatred.

The anecdotal authority of the Old Testament is stillbeing used today by priests and alumni occupying posts inthe power house of Jewish and Masonic orders respectively.These are sons and daughters of a belief system who have‘sexed up’ their identity as the sons and daughters of Light(the enlightened ones) by parading themselves in publicplaces with an outward show of ermine, heraldic emblemsand religious symbols to impress the goyim, theunenlightened, the lower orders of society. However, theybelong to secret societies that have a history of using thugsto persuade and cajole followers of the living Christ to denyHis divinity and to question the inviolability of Histestimony.

Jesus provides a perfect account of son-ship, andtherefore daughter-ship, based on the way he lived out hisdirect relationship with God as a child of God, which

encourages us to join with him as members of his familyand co heirs in God’s kingdom. His virgin birth is availableas a spiritual experience of re-birth to any who decide toinvite him into their lives.

Jesus came to remove the sin that cultivates bothignorance and unbelief so that the people in the synagogue,who worshipped their kinsfolk’s historical narrative, mightinstead put their faith in an identity that offered totalliberation from the straight jacket of an identity prescribedby man made laws, customs and traditions.

The law is often used to prescribe the ideologicalboundaries of corporate and national identity, which inmost cultures is the means by which the absolute ruler canattempt to secure total dominion and control over theindividual’s spiritual and physical existence. It is the cult ofthe Roman principle of law making that inspires the samemilitaristic approach today to homogenising world culturesto conform to a global definition of what, for example, ‘NewWorld Order’ means. Communists would call itcollectivisation of human resources for the common good;socialists, redistribution of wealth and welfare according toneed; Christians would call it Roman Catholicism; liberalsmay call it fascism; others, Symbiosis, Convergence,Zeitgeist, Babel or Babylon. I call it empire building, theglobalisation of a nation’s identity and values intogeographical or ideological spaces, which is a processsymmetric with bloodshed and war. It is centuries ofcarnage that has enabled despots to arrogantly append theword ‘great’ to the name of their little island in the Atlanticocean.

Law makers and violent militants are the twoproponents of secularism and of secularised religion, who

rigorously apply absolutist principles of self determinationto bring into existence their perception of community basedon romanticised idyllic political theories plucked out of theair. These proponents are fundamentalists, militants for theassent of man.

Beneath an artificial veneer of sophistry and intelligencewhat really lies deep within the psyche of mankind’s beliefin it’s supremacy is the territorial instinct of a wild animalrather than the human nature of God in Christ. Suchprimal instincts inspire leaders of world civilisations tocarve their history in blood. This is what the Old Testamentpeople did.

“We need a program… for political control of our society.The purpose is physical control of the mind [of] … everyonewho deviates from the given norm. The individual may thinkthat the most important reality is his own existence, but thisis only his personal point of view. This lacks historicalperspective. Man does not have the right to develop his ownmind. This kind of liberal orientation has great appeal. Wemust electrically control the brain. Some day armies andgenerals will be controlled by electric stimulation of thebrain.” 5

Anyone stepping outside of a cultural identity therefore,imposed by a cohort of wealthy law lords working forabsolute rulers, absolute priests and absolute militantsobsessed with their own importance and political status,will find themselves, as Jesus did, subject to the roughjustice of a mob. This is the mob the Jewish hierarchyindoctrinated, with their warped view of God, to believe inthe nice little social etiquette of attending ceremonies in

their best clothes and in the not so nice etiquette ofattending, with aggravation, the kangaroo court of Jesus’rough justice. Here they were whipped into a pathologicalfrenzy by the political and xenophobic missionary zeal oftheir teachers and law makers who found Jesus guilty ofblasphemy and ‘worthy of death’.6

In this sense, a definition of blasphemy comes very closeto meaning one cannot have an identity outside of oneprescribed by a State pedagogy or synagogue council orchurch leader, who often represent a hierarchy of controlbordering on tyranny, unless it is endorsed or ratified bysome sanctimonious doctrine elevated to a notional place ofauthority where it stands as the absolute rule and rod bywhich an individual’s life is measured worthy of exclusion,or worse, violence and murder.

Were the Iraqi families, obliterated by a ‘Westernideology’ of violence, measured worthy of destruction by thiskind of cultic evil? Were the peasants, teachers, studentsand priests caught up in the US war on an ideologicalrevolution in Vietnam considered worthy of execution by theUS military because of a peasant revolt? Likewise, wereteachers, journalists and activists belonging to humanrights organisations butchered by the US backedGuatemalan and Argentine tyrannical regimes in the 80’sbecause they voiced a political identity dismissive of the UScapitalistic model? Conversely, were the office workers inthe twin towers wiped out by the same cultic evil becausethey were considered to be a threat to the survival of theIslamic way of life?

Jesus met a wall of cultic evil from the beginning of hislife to the very end. First from Satan, a voice that opposesidentity with his Father, who tried unsuccessfully to plant a

seed of doubt in his mind about his identity by appealing toa vanity that did not exist, ‘If you are the Son of God, tellthis stone to become bread.’ 7  The inner voice of theconscious mind that probably gave birth to language was, Isuspect, born out of a dichotomy of identity, the crisis ofchoosing to identify with the impersonal material world ofmatter or the very personal world of a Creator. Languageitself is the bi-product of choice between submitting to thesingle authority of one ego in heaven or to the clamorousdemand of competing egos on Earth. Jesus saw the latter ashis enemy. No need then, for him to prove his identity to hisenemy when they asked for a miraculous sign. Finally, theRoman mind set tried to destroy his identity while he washanging on the cross, by insisting the placard stay above hishead that read ‘King of the Jews’, which was probablymeant to show the irony of his confession to Pilate ‘Yes, it isas you say.’ 8

So. Do people kill each other because of being offendedby words that question the root of their knowledge by whichthey construct their identity? Words that enshrine culturalidentity in law must be very murderous then. Words like‘blasphemy’ then, which some dear Christian folk used onceto justify excluding me from participating in worship withthem, are just words used by groups of people whose mindshave been conditioned by a certain doctrine or canon thatreinforces an identity alien to that of Christ.

Christ came to set us free from the cultural tyranny oflaws that try to suffocate the offer of inclusiveness of theheight, the breadth, the depth and length of God’s love forhis creation. The fact that some people reject the offer is anexclusivity they bring upon themselves. Love gives afreedom of choice. Hardened atheists are as equally covered

by this kind of love as believers are, who are both prone tochange their minds in an instant and, under the very sameumbrella of love, cross each other’s paths as one denies herfaith and another finds his, both going in the oppositedirection saying with incredulity ‘I thought you were anunbeliever?’, and the other replying, ‘And I thought youwere a believer?

Jesus simply came to declare the truth about his eternalidentity. The truth about his eternal identity was verifiedby his resurrection from the dead. Not even death coulddestroy his eternal relationship with the Creator of allthings. You cannot ‘kill’ God as Neitzche found out when hewent to meet him after he died. Not even the penaltyprescribed by the absolutist mindset of a Roman and Jewishculture, of doctrinaire priests and lawyers working togetherto purify cultural norms, could alter a single dot concerninghis identity. He transcends the cultural narrative ofviolence whose proponents, as I have said, have beenissuing doctrines, decrees, edicts and canons since thebeginning when language, again I rather suspect, washijacked by despots.

The supremacy of a particular creed, economic doctrineor political theory based on the centrality of mankind in theuniverse is a worn out logos of tyranny propped up by lawand violence.

‘Blasphemy’? Well. It is possible to blaspheme anything.If by blaspheming you mean describing something orsomeone by a different set of words or ‘regime’ of words thatgo against a definition prescribed by tyrannical people thenit is possible to blaspheme every day! Some people holdMugabe in high regard and would hack to death anyonewho speaks against their icon of ‘liberation from British

Imperialism’. Don't say a word against Muhammed eitheror you may find yourself suffering the same kind ofsedimentary violence that was meted out to Jesus.

Icons and inanimate objects like war shrines andmemorials are so prevalent in cultures as signifiers of anestablished way of life that the word Establishment takeson a whole new meaning. The two words Government andEducation theoretically come close to being almostsynonymous with Establishment and Indoctrination. Itseems right to uphold an iconic establishment of culturalidentity in this way but is it ideologically sound? Does theidea of honouring war heroes ad infinitum comedangerously close to sanctifying the idea of war ad infinitumand to communicating history in a monochrome language ofblack and white. Does not this village wide iconographyinculcate in the mind of every generation, that sees thesebloody monuments, the Old Testament atavism ofdisengaging from more peaceful ways of resolving disputeswith neighbours? Is it not this sublime form of radicalisingyouth to associate fighting and killing with an honorarystatus bestowed by the State that contributes to the tenetsof a gang culture?

Icons such as these may well represent a symboliclanguage that sustains the memory of loved ones who eitherdied as combatants or as citizens but they do not representthe truth about the wealthy elite behind the scenes whomeet together in their exclusive clubs like Bilderberg andMasonic lodges to discuss strategic matters of State. Inthese hidden areas of parapolitical activity there aremotives, reasons and ideas not documented for the publicrecord. Yet these same figures of power organise the fillingof our streets with cameras at public expense, using the

sophistry of electronic surveillance linked by concealedisolated computer networks to document the lives ofordinary citizens. This is a science in the hands of apowerful lobby of Christ haters who teach that the scienceof tyranny is the salvation of man.

The nature of symbolic language is that it is moreimprecise than the written or spoken word. In the context ofplaying its part in communicating a flowing contemporaryhistorical narrative, symbolism often caters more for anemotional understanding of events than one based on hardtruth or reality. When hard truth becomes the property ofthe State, in the form of internal memos, ‘intelligence’reports and departmental strategy briefings, the realreasons for war are secreted away into vaults or shreddedby loyal civil servants. Symbolism is a powerful tool formanipulating emotions and masking the truth.

Forensic historians are sometimes placed in theunenviable position of arguing for a revised version ofhistory when some official documents that escape theshredder reveal a different story to the one accepted as trueby contemporaries caught up in the loss and suffering ofwar or conflict at the time. The emotion of personal tragedy,divinely upheld by the symbolism of preserved tombs andshrines, does not easily transfer down through succeedinggenerations against a backdrop of a shifting historicalnarrative that changes over time and that alters themeaning of national pride and heroism.

Most Americans would probably not be too proud of theircountry’s military track record over the last 30 years if thepolitical and economic veil shrouding its military operationsin South America was lifted and the hidden agenda of armssales exposed, revealing how big US banks and finance

corporations propped up inhumane regimes that killed localcitizens by the thousands. Medals of honour tell the story ofindividual heroism but the transnational corporations andmajor State bankers, who enjoy immeasurable gains fromtheatres of war, win far bigger prizes for their elite clubsthan decapitated bodies, broken families and acres ofgravestones.

The dichotomy between the symbolism of tombs, shrinesand memorials inscribed in stone, and the oral or writtennarrative of history inscribed in the fluid medium ofrevisionism, is that the former out lives the latter in itsmeaning and presentation. The stone keeps alive afundamentally emotive simplistic view of history whileshielding from public consciousness perhaps a less nobleview; the iconic and symbolic becomes as misinforming asgovernment spin but outlives it. Public consciousness isseen as a tabula rasa for social conditioning by theobscurant communication channel mediated by a memorialor plinth but the ones used by the CIA in the 70’s who ‘wasable to pump disinformation into the media through morethan 800 different ‘assets’ scattered through every nation inthe world, all of them disguised.’9, is by far less naive. In hisbook ‘Flat Earth News’ Nick Davies shows how the mediaplays into the hands of government spin and can very oftenbe part of the problem of falsifying history while trying toreport events objectively on the ground. Heroism inVietnam, according to Noam Chomsky, was not as black andwhite as the emotive Vietnam war shrines suggest.

A historian has to avoid excessive revisionism.Especially if his career as a don or a peer is immersed in theEstablishment where he enjoys certain privileges bestowedby the State. For a distinguished historian to attack the

official Government line of the day that might, for example,seriously throw doubt on the legality of a war by a widemargin or on the accuracy of MOD explanations for thecausality of conflict, takes a certain kind of courage. Toexpose potential flaws in the ethos of war heroism andunsettle the sensitive memories of those families who hadblind faith in the ‘system’ that their sacrifice was not invain, usually incurs the charge of treason or disloyalty butthe whole dialectic must continue.

The reputation of some historians is largely a constructof State patronage anyway, so if they choose to play trickson the dead, condemn and acquit Government press officersand terrorists respectively, they can look forward to a spellin Coventry for their contempt of the official version ofhistory; the one deemed by a non quantifiable majority to befounded on a collection of irrefutable historical evidence.But the ‘majority’ will probably never see the Governmentdocuments that could form part of a brief for the prosecutionof the State for war crimes.

Treason and blasphemy then come close to sharing thesame meaning when it comes to deconstruction of the idolsand icons that are worshipped by a nation. Blasphemy of ahistorical narrative therefore is blasphemy of the people ithonours, it would seem, because the State system ofprotecting its faultless identity has already been doneeffortlessly through the testimony of the symbolic emotivelanguage of its icons and idols, which then help to legitimiseits moral discourse on treason or blasphemy. Historians arestigmatised with the label ‘revisionist’ by their critics forwork that does not meet the standards set by theEstablishment for interpreting the past because the past isso important to those who safeguard a nation’s identity,

even though it is thoroughly and utterly dead, technically asdead as the parrot in Monty Python’s comedy. It is donewith, gone to meet its Maker, finished. It is as dead asoblivion, the place where people believe they go when theydie. You can play tricks on the dead as long as you don’tresurrect them in the image of a flawed and schizophrenicnational identity.

The Ministry of Defence, being part of theEstablishment, is implicated in this long history ofassembling a decorative language of uniforms, hats, medals,ceremonies, war museums, commemorative days, that forman elaborate artifice of pomp and display, which has thecompound effect of speaking in other tongues forgenerations. This is not dissimilar from the language ofRoman architecture throughout the world that speaks of theartificial successes of the Roman identity as one to becommemorated for all time. A putrefied culture of OldTestament triumphalism carved in stone.

The story line of bravery and sacrifice is separated fromthe non-politicised and undocumented story line of membersof the wealthy property and business class, occupyingministerial posts, who are not always subject toparliamentary scrutiny, who influence foreign policy on ascale that is nothing to do with defence but a great deal todo with safeguarding the interests and the large fortunesheld by their class. The undocumented political influence of a small strataof society in possession of shuffling vast fortunes on behalfof the greedy and self-indulgent, is an internal phenomenonmost undemocratic Governments tolerate, and in manyparts of the world aggressively defend as in Indonesia underSuharto. But a Government that lavishly maintains aglossolalia, a spin on history, that boasts of its own politicalcorrectness and unblemished identity will always protectthe symbols that speak it out as if in other tongues.

Citizens are brainwashed through exposure to repetitiveimages of war shrines and war heroes through mediachannels that broadcast a regular diet of ceremonies, whichultimately serve to condition their emotions to readilysubmit their allegiance to an ideological, almost spiritual,dimension called ‘Queen or President or country’ and to giveplace of honour to military success in defending theirimagined identity.

The blood of ancestors and foreigners has been spilt tomake the possession of land possible, which establishes anhistorical narrative like a holy scripture, divine anduntouchable as a tombstone, that speaks like the word of agod to each generation, to be venerated as holy writ, not tobe blasphemed against. The permanent fixture of a cultureor nation, of rarefied objects of stone and metal, protected

by militant institutions, stands as a mega-phonic statementthat will not tolerate anyone suggesting it’s permanence isrooted in flawed and fanciful ideas. God’s purpose is beyondthe cult of servile flattery, self-adulation, self-righteousnessand man worship.

Secular institutions do not give much worth to thenotion of the existence of a Creator but much worth toornaments because in their perception of reality the onlysubstance that matters is what is tangible, visible, andtheoretically possible within a Marxist dialogue about theequal distribution of possessions; a dry materialist dialectic.Therefore the ornament is defended and preserved at allcosts in terms of its physical structure and visibility becauseit lends permanence to the ideological and historicalnarrative that created it. The worth they give to stone andmetal representing the sacrificial blood of their ancestorsfar exceeds the worth they give to the sacrificial blood ofGod’s Son because in their estimation of reality they see intheir kith and kin’s sacrifice of blood for the nation asufficient cause to justify the militaristic maintenance of acultural identity they died for.

Cultural identity is an integral part of the narrative ofeducational and media institutions therefore whoseadherents promote beliefs and ideas through theunambiguous yet imprecise subliminal language of imagesand icons. Their worship of the material existence of selfand of a particular community exhibiting artefacts thatsymbolises its identity cascades into violence. It is this kindof worship of material things that conditions citizens,communities and nations who identify with them, to becomepsychotic and full of rage, like the nice people in the

synagogue at Nazareth, when the objects of their idolatryare exposed to the Jesus dimension of time and space.

A belief system or ideology or culture that needs thugsto protect its identifying motifs and effigies, facades andmarks, symbols and signs, is a system bereft of moral andintellectual integrity, unable to stand on its own two feetwithout the crutch of institutional violence.

The split personality problem, the problem of spiritualpsychosis, that Jesus encountered in the Synagogue atNazareth, of people switching in an instant from being ‘nice’people in a community listening to ‘sacred’ historical textsthat elevated the righteousness of their ancestors, to being aviolent lynch mob, typifies the dilemma of giving moreworth to self or community than to the first commandment.I ask you a straight question: are words and symbols thatdescribe identity, protected from being blasphemed againstby a code of violence and then physically protected byconsensual brutality? Yes, sadly, this is the mercurial sinthat enslaves nations. Verbal abuse that eventually led to physical abuse ofJesus’ body came from all types of people whose minds hadbeen cultivated by centuries of worshipping, of giving worthto, a portrayal of God and man that was neither entirelyright, nor entirely holy, nor entirely perfect, nor entirelytrue, nor entirely divine. Their sudden and unexpectedbehaviour in the synagogue gave them away, exposing theirspiritual condition that had been nurtured by centuries ofbrainwashing or education by teachers of their culture whothemselves were deficient in knowing the truth.

By using the historical narrative as a foundation stonefor building national identity, and then for inspiring eachgeneration to carry the torch of their identity into

surrounding communities, it was necessary to establish it asa holy canon, a canon of Holy Writ, which is the raisond’etre behind the construction of canonical authority. Theconstruction of a righteous State depends on holy writ. Theinfluence of canonised histories of this type becomes aninvisible spiritual one therefore because of the invisibilityand power of the ideas they convey. Ideas have no materialor metaphysical properties and, like spirituality, theymanifest in the flesh the substance of the things theyportray and represent. The ideas about a God of retributionand war are invisible until they are manifested in the fleshin the Old Testament though a process of education bypriests and academics, the Pharisee and Sadducee, clergyand scholar.

The kind of ideas that suggested it was necessary towipe out a very large number of non-combatant citizens inDresden with heavy bombing during the 2nd world war inorder to weaken the resolve of another national hero,introduces a spiritual dimension to murder that disengagessensibilities, and generally radicalises succeedinggenerations to consider the possibility of retaining adetached view of humanity that the flesh and bonebelonging to ‘them’ is worth nothing compared to the fleshand bone belonging to ‘us.’ This is the psychology of a ghettoculture. The mind of war is normalised and the seed of deepracial hatred is sown. The mantra that violence is justifiedas a necessary evil is taught by teachers and priests as atruth before alternatives have been thoroughly, properlyand publicly debated and tested. The spirit hidden in theideas upheld by educationalists, in this context, is a spirit ofdeath and destruction. The invisible spiritual elementinherent in ideas that inspire people to react violently is

connected to the subliminal power of authority attributed tocanonised texts. Canonised as authoritative, the historicalnarrative becomes more than just words; it transmogrifiesinto a national creed that surreptitiously inveigles its wayinto the meaning of national inheritance and birthright.Over time the creed creeps into the liturgy of the churchthus giving it not only a stately authority but a divine oneas well. The upshot is an artificial wedding between Churchand State conceived and implemented in hell. Mark mywords, God does not bridle himself to a narrative that is fullof spiritual ignorance.

Texts are selected by a hierarchy of experts who decideon their suitability for canonical status so that they can beused by teachers specifically to inculcate the student with asense of national identity. Selected historical texts become acompass setting for continuity of the same old myth about anation’s integrity and righteousness, for the continuation ofthe same dull sanitised past, which is always a hotlydisputed construction of identity. History repeats itself in avicious cycle because it is a dead narrative brought aliveinto the present by teachers you have no other logos otherthan the literature of the dead.

Consequently, ideas inherently violent therefore becomesubliminally elevated in the spiritual life of a nation. Thecollective imagination is open to the authoritative idea of adestructive and violent God, all because of the elevation oftexts and voices from dead people who, like the forefathersof Israel, never knew God in the first place. This can also betrue of texts used by secular authorities as well as religious.This atavistic phenomenon of voices speaking from the pastwith authority to somehow underwrite or authenticatepresent war economies speak even louder when the remains

of the dead are also brought into the equation by the fixtureof iconography around their tombs as additional text, whichis a practice akin to ancestor worship, a spiritualreclamation and affirmation of the dead.

The atavistic knee jerk reaction to Jesus in theNazarene synagogue was expressed not by one loneprotestor but in collective form like that of NationalSocialism in 20th century Germany. Nationalism of thiskind entails a tribal practise of worshipping dead spiritsand dead words.

In fact, centuries of cultural conditioning in the hostileenvironment of competing for fertile space predisposed theJewish hierarchy to see violence as the only solution to theJesus challenge. Theirs was the challenge of a voice that didnot come from the dead but direct from eternity exposingthe sin and deadness of some of their historical narrative.The authoritative texts had nurtured a community to reactinstinctively to Jesus with what they thought to be arighteous response, approved of and ratified by God and bythe righteousness of Israel as portrayed in their canonisedhistorical narrative, the Old Testament.

The hallmark of a false ideology or religion is itsliberality concerning violence. The liberal mind that tacitlyholds as true two diametrically opposed ideas about thevalue of human life will never be able to resolve themeaning of existence. Adherents to a constructivist school ofthought who teach the autonomy of a free-for-all science asthe basis for the construction of an ordered society maywince at the sight of news footage showing decapitatedbodies and children fried and later deformed by theextensive use of white phosphorus but, because within theirhallowed academic textbooks there is no concept of divine

judgement and, by default, no concept of restraint when itcomes to justifying the dehumanisation of people in war as a‘necessary evil’, they will always construct a world ofviolence.

The mantra is a historical one. It is the mantra ofupholding as true the idea that power is achieved bysplitting the personality of people into two distinctlyincompatible minds; one half inspired to be caring andsocial and the other half radicalised by war mongeringtyrants and their violent institutions to be ready to fight tothe death. Adherents to a regime of truth receive themantra from their peers through a selective educationalprocess going back centuries. The selection process producescandidates groomed for power who are paid handsomely fortheir legal and political role as guardians of a nation’sspiritual and cultural heritage. Their role and their duty isto preserve the status of their class based on a supremacistlogic of a class system that binds a large section of societynot only to a cringing existence but to one that is deeplyinfluenced by the spiritual psychosis inherent in the ideasand beliefs their class push as truth. Unreason becomespart of the machination of one generation passively passingdown the meganarrative of a bloody national identity to thenext in true Old Testament style and practise, eachaccepting the narrative as some kind of divine predicationlife is like this and can’t be arranged any other way.

Human organisation has always been about control.Political control emanates from a belief system thatworships possession of things and denies the Creator whotakes it all away. It is about the aggressive maintenance ofa master/slave relationship between the few who possessthe labour force as their means of shaping political power

and the many who possess only their labour power as ameans of shaping but a tiny fragment of the political spacealready occupied by their peers. These are peers whopreserve traditions, ancient customs and beliefs thatconsolidate power in ‘a place where power migrates to inwhich there is no democratic control.’10 Class distinction isinstitutionalised from birth through inculcation of receivedvalues and norms, which keeps as high culture theanecdotal authority of one class over another, causingnothing but a perpetual state of conflict between those whohave power and those who don’t. Western democraciesnotionally at least give the public direct access to power butwithin a tight political framework of class feudalism. Thequestion of identity becomes compounded by a strugglebetween classes, between those born into a pre-definedsocial and political typology, and those born into anenvironment decorated wall to wall with symbolicreferences to nationhood that is to some extent artificial, theproduct of a history of connivance by tyrants anddisengaged despots. In both conundrums the citizen isconditioned to fight on behalf of abstract and artificialvalues and beliefs that simulate in his untrained mind theexperience of identity with a nation or a class, or both.

By yielding to questionable moral imperatives embeddedin this dialogue of identity, priests, leaders, academics,lawyers, presidents and emperors compromise both theirconscience and their reason, by slavishly supportingundemocratic regimes that protect from public prosecutionindividuals who produce fallacious documents to legitimisethe use of death squads to impose dubious cultural normson dissidents within, or ‘enemies’ without. The Argos of the

Argentine junta in the 70’s was all about the institutionalemployment of death squads.

Moral imperatives arise when one culture insists itsvalues and beliefs are superior to others. The imperativebecomes a mob baying for the blood of lower cultures whenpolitical power migrates from the internal ‘spiritual’dimension of xenophobia to the external physical dimensionof psychotic rage. When Pilate sat on his judge’s seat to obeythe wishes of the public by executing the one they, as alynch mob, deemed as evil, he was no longer anadministrator of justice but a leader caught up in thespiritual psychosis of a nation’s leaders who peddled lies toconvict Jesus, peddled lies about God and peddled lies aboutthemselves. According to Matthew, Pilate saw that he wasgetting nowhere. Pilate acquiesced while his wife washaving bad dreams about it all. Women typically feel securesupporting their warrior husbands until the war backfiresand threatens their cosy little epicurean love nest. Theirmaternal instinct of protecting the life they painfully givebirth to can no longer be repressed and they suddenlybecome like transformers, switching from waving UnionJacks or Stars and Stripes to protesting with photos of theirloved ones killed by ‘the enemy’. Deep psychosis ensues.

The mob say, therefore, you die. The legal basis for theuse of violence against the Iraqi people was presented by achief law lord in the euphemistic form of a Government‘advisory’ document. It says, they die.

The nationalistic and anecdotal basis for the legitimacyof British and American military forces in Iraq, or anywhereelse on foreign soil, at any time in history, is no differentfrom the basis used by terrorists. Both are using a scriptthat invokes moral imperatives as their legal basis for

violence. A script bearing the seal or emblem of a plutocraticnation that boasts about their God ‘Dieu at mon droit’ 11

does not make it more or less legitimate than another scriptbearing a flag or emblem of a smaller political or economicgroup boasting about their God. Whether the God is moneyor spiritual mysticism, a pantheistic deity or higherconsciousness, the political mantra is the same. Theuniforms and metaphor are different but the issue andconflict of identity is the same. Their reciprocation of theuse of weapons of mass destruction, though distinctlyuneven in scale, place both factions in the same dialecticschool of thinking as those occupied by the self-righteoushandful of aristocratic civil servants and generals in theFirst World War who sent over 5 million men to die in thename of an artifice called nationhood.

The monotony of one nation’s script is like the monotonyof religious scripts; peddling as truth the same old identityentailing a god made in their own image; the latter animage of common purpose and attitude, the former an imageof common purpose and attitude, both projecting theirviolent spirituality onto a god made in their own image.This is nothing to do with the image of man and the imageof God faithfully portrayed by the sinless Son of man andsinless Son of God.

The reason Jesus came into the world was to lift manout of his primitive and risky state of imagining gods andimagining his own identity; to redeem him fromworshipping useless cultural icons and idols, histories andscriptures, that are as dead as the people who made them.He came to heal the deep spiritual psychosis of nationsunable to discern reality from fiction caused by killing one’sown kind for an artificial identity. He came to silence the

haunting voices of the dead and to give life to the living, tobring an end to the war machine that is a dead endnarrative, that is run and maintained by dead people; deadto God.

The rejection that Jesus encountered is a standard textbook type of rejection for all ages and all cultures tounderstand. It is the rejection of truth that leads to thedestruction of all Jerusalems, which is a metaphor foridentifying with images made of corruptible materialinstead of with the incorruptible image of Christ.

‘Do not labour for the food which perishes, but for thefood which endures to eternal life, which the Son of man willgive to you’. 12

Jesus experienced violent abuse first from his kinsfolkwho, not liking his words very much, hauled him out of thesynagogue, out of the town, to throw him down the cliff, 13

(perhaps as a service to their ancestral portrayal of God).Then from his peers, the State officials standing with theHigh Priest who, not liking his words also, didn’t botherwith mere verbal abuse but added a solid punch in the facefor good measure. 14 Then the Dept of Defence came along,with their trained killers working for the State machinery ofideological and doctrinal thuggery, as enforcers of anatheistic religion of materialistic positivism or deterministicconstructivism or whatever. They weren’t happy to just givehim verbal and physical abuse in the undignified manner ofhis kinsfolk and erudite peers. No, they excelled themselvesin sadism, after their erudite peers, by playing with Jesus’body like predators play with their prey.

‘Let’s pop a little crown of thorns on his head, clothe himin a robe of mock purple, spit on him and punch the crap outof him, then verbally abuse him.’ 15 This alludes to adefinition of defence that is very questionable, that is moreabout defending with abject violence a cultural constructionof reality than about defending ‘a nation’.

Blasphemy becomes even more difficult to define setagainst such a backdrop of naked cultural violence. I can’tquite square in my mind a plausible reason why Jesusshould be tried and found guilty of blasphemy by man-madecultures noted for their sadistic cruelty and harsh intolerantattitudes. The spiritual connection between violent wordsand physical violence acts like a spiritual umbilical chordholding together the norms and laws that gave gravity andmomentum to the Jewish and the Roman kits of identity. Itis the same human spirit that binds unbelievers today toidentify with cultural norms that protect on the pain ofdeath icons and shrines, tombstones and memorials, thatgive worth and value to the ancestors they commemorate, toprevious generations who have spilt other people’s blood totry vainly to defend, expand, and export an artificialidentity beyond eternity. Jesus was guilty then of articulating an identity that wasnot entirely the product of contemporary ideology andculture.

“Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, youhypocrites! You build tombs for the prophets and decoratethe graves of the righteous. And you say, ‘If we had lived inthe days of our forefathers, we would not have taken partwith them in shedding the blood of the prophets.’ So youtestify against yourselves that you are the descendants of

those who murdered the prophets. Fill up, then, the measureof the sin of your forefathers!” 16

The scribes and Pharisees identified themselves withthe prophets of old. They admired them, venerated them,and decorated their tombs. But in their hearts theyidentified with the cultural practices of their forefatherswhose historical narrative of butchering their neighbours,as well as the Prophets, they revered as holy writ, as theydo today.

The cultural identity of a nation is like a uniform thathas been conceived and cut, weaved and sewn, measuredand trimmed, by generations of people born into a placelargely dominated by the inherited values and aspirations ofviolent land grabbers. Mainly Norman and Saxon in thecase of Britain. Despotic Kings and their loyal servantshave tried for generations to make the uniform fit the Plebswhose land they stole. In the process they have created anidentity out of a piece of soil that is all about maintainingtheir possession of it and about their resistance to thosewho pursue a republican cause of taking it back into publicownership. It is a boring unimaginative historical narrativeof bloodiness and conquest, wars and justification for warscreated by the elite for the elite.

Cultural icons, shrines, war memorials, statues, powersymbols, coats of arms, cathedrals, flags, war museums,obelisks, a pile of bricks on a gallery floor even, may standlike divine artefacts of a historical narrative protected bylaw from being blasphemed against but the narrative ofJesus Christ goes well beyond the scope of soporific historylessons and duplicitous law making.

The spirit that holds the two together, law and culturalidentity, is the same spirit that accused Jesus of blasphemy.It is the spirit of man that keeps sleep walking into the‘hour when darkness reigns.’ 17

The consequence of not believing in the identity of Christis plain to see in the historical narrative of cultures whosevision, it seems, was to always expand, conquer and occupy.A narrative that applauds the use of weapons to assist theconstruction of a superior identity to others is what createdthe ‘Egyptian Empire’, ‘The Persian Empire’, ‘the HittiteEmpire’, ‘The Babylonian Empire’, ‘The Greek Empire’, ‘TheMongolian Empire’, ‘The Great Roman Empire’ or ‘theByzantine Empire’ or ‘the Great British Empire’ or‘Deutschland uber alles’ or ‘anti colonial Zimbabwe’ or ‘TheOil Rich Arab Empire’. With industrialisation the narrativehas become one of urgent science and militarism and withit, globalisation of a corporatist mentality, that createseconomic enclaves, economic zones in hyper space wherecapital is extracted second by second at social andenvironmental expense on a global scale, with an identityappended as a label euphemistically and deceptively called‘Democracy’.

The imperative of having the most powerful andadvanced weapons has always characterised the politicalorganisation of cultural ‘identity’. The urgency today is touse with extreme force the latest scientific discovery, a. k. a.knowledge, as the means of empowering a nation to be moresuccessful than others, to win ideological, religious,economic battles, to stay on top of the pile and enjoy wealthand prosperity at the expense of the poor who are at thebottom of the pile. Without this awesome political abuse ofknowledge, of applying a disciplined scientific approach to

the secret development of armaments, of creating a publiceducation system that clones people to believe in thesupremacy of militarism while keeping concealed the hiddenapparatus of raw political power that enables upperechelons of society to protect their own, it would not bepossible for leaders to bind the flesh and bone of State tosuch an unconscious feral existence as that of a battery hen.

When talk show personalities can earn up to £16,000 aday at public expense in a media industry effectively run bythe State while a bank clerk and a nurse scrape home £72 aday you know there exists a political apparatus ofmagicians, like a State within a State, that keeps hidden amonopoly of economic power, which has, at many juncturesin its ignoble past, created a culture in which the massesare expected to lie down and act dead as if the ethicalinjustice of such a criminal disparity of human value werean acceptable norm.

Weapons have their usefulness in securing economic andsocial benefits for citizens who work co-operatively togetheracross several disciplines toward establishing a broadcultural consensus that certifies as ‘a necessary evil’ thebloodbath of other people’s souls. Mass murder is a pre-requisite for the science of economics and sustainablegrowth to have any meaningful application therefore andthe positive mental attitude inspired by pedagogicinstitutions peddling all kinds of relativistic imperativesand statistics becomes a national Gregorian chant, ‘Bepositive, get rich, kill a foreigner by proxy, and accumulateyour ill gotten gains’. The organisational aspect to violencehas evolved from Old Testament paradigms into anindustrialised colossus propping up a syndicated network ofopted in civil servants, bureaucrats, law lords, security

agents like the SS and CIA and MI6, military and economicstrategists, media moguls and a press core, whose highlypaid posts clearly illustrate the plutocratic rules by whichthe military industrial complex is syndicated.

The existential substance of this kind of materialisticidentity, of humans making meaning out of the things theypossess, is the material appropriation of other people’sgoods, usually at the other people’s expense or loss of life orboth. Hell on Earth is perpetuated by authoritative scriptsunderwriting authoritative speech underwritingauthoritative laws underwriting authoritative handheldweapons of material destruction underwriting a system ofmass annihilation, all in the name of egocentricenlightenment. The process of ‘gradualism’ that allows badideas to seep into the infrastructure of institutions ispowerfully analysed by Naomi Klein and David Korten intheir books ‘The Shock Doctrine’ and ‘When CorporationsRule the World’ respectively. Canonised for generations asthe narrative of human progress the hallowed scripture ofacademia clones students to put all their trust in amaterialistic impersonal Universe where the survival of thefittest, the first principle of a Darwinian dialectic upheld bythe illuminated ones, mutates spiritually into shrineshallowing destruction. Such are the beliefs held by theIllumaniti, who believe they are enlightened by some secretknowledge or Cabalist mystical teaching that elevates theirintellectual and spiritual status to a higher degree thantheir fellow man, that they ironically of all people shouldoccupy offices of political power that sustains a corporateidentity infused with State managed violence. to an elite willing to perform rites and rituals in secret toclimb the social ladder, has resonance with the kind ofclassification system that modern State education offers topeople who want to climb the money ladder.

While equipping students with practical skills to play auseful role in the community State education also groomsthem to believe in upward mobility and social climbing as anormal extension of their investment of time and money intheir education. The curriculum implicitly raisesexpectations of recognition and identity that inevitablyleads them into adopting an anti-social acceptance of aranking system similar in political structure to the rankingsystem of priesthood and laity in the days when educationwas the domain of monks and priests in the Dark Ages.

Wearing grandiose titles like dog collars, denoting theirrank and pseudo semi-divine status as guardians of truthand cultural identity, today’s new hierarchy of clerics andpriests in education climb the same social and politicalladders in much the same way as their predecessors did inthe Dark Ages when the Roman church had a broadnetwork of ‘educators’ and ‘advisers’ working closely withthe land owning gentry and princes who were busyexpanding their city states. The garments have changed butthe order of value and worth remains the same. The oldRoman regime that hijacked the teachings of Christ andcruelly maintained a rank and file social structure withinthe church by delineating people as celebrity and non-celebrity, has been replaced by a system that hassubstantially accentuated the excesses of the old way in anew dressage of pomp and popery in modern entertainment.The pomp and power of celebrity status, of clergy, prince,

lord and king has been replaced by the celebrity status ofcivic personas, artists, entertainers and academics.

Institutional power, once the preserve of a church andstate hierarchy has now fallen into the hands of a newmercantile and commercial hierarchy that uses film,theatre, education and media as the new church of clericand laity, celebrity and non-celebrity, of worshippedpersonas and their tithed license payers. Renaissance manhas freed himself from the shackles of a clerical theatre ofcontrol only to find himself in the shackles of another.

The implication of an education system issuingcertificates to be used as passports for enabling students tomove into ever higher social and economic circles is that itperpetuates a culture of devaluating the worth of thosewithout certificates, which horribly predisposes theconditions for self-justifying a military industrial complex toprotect the interests of climbing acolytes, the new alumniaspiring to gain great riches and power with their newpassports. As students construct their identity with whatthey can accumulate through their newly acquiredpassports, their peers, who have already gained greatprosperity and status, are busy lobbying the owners of themilitary industrial machine to move obstructions out oftheir way. In a world reshaped by economic constructivismit is not surprising to see the entire economic structurecollapse regularly like a deck of cards especially as it isfounded on a mountain of debt that never seems to berecovered other than by military means. Chillingly also, themarketing phrase used by the big business of education,‘Knowledge is empowerment’, has an Orwellian twist that isnow a self fulfilling prophecy.

Mark my words, the blood of billions of people cry outfrom the Earth for justice and they each will see it whenChrist returns now to finally reveal the purpose of hisidentity and of drawing people into identifying with him.His words are here, now, to judge the living and the dead.Eternity is not tied up in historical knots; it is always in thepresent tense and always Christ. God is not a historianeither, who lets cultural identity drivel out of his mouth inendless streams of self-congratulatory rhetoric and cant.Things that are temporal belong to the mouths of sucklings.

You can get a little glimpse of your identity in God’sEternal Kingdom by simply reading the four Gospels, notthe Bible. The words of Christ are not equal with the canonof man’s scripture but way way above it. Simply read thefour Gospels and in particular, where Jesus talks abouteternity. Your identity is important in eternity.Your identity is your soul and many sell their soul for theimmediate benefit of material comfort, which findsexpression in all kinds of cultural constructions that almostalways leads the soul inexorably toward a position ofviolence or of supporting institutions, societies, ‘authorities’who do violence on your behalf.

A secular construction of reality, built on science andreasoning that denies the divinity of Christ and therefore ofman, is a denial of worth to those whom its violentideological straightjacket applies. Humanism is militarismby default. This kind of Humanism can be seen influencingthe direction of history in both religious and seculardimensions. It is Humanism that inspired the mob to crucifyChrist.

As for the guilt of blasphemy worthy of death, I believethat Jesus can best answer any questions you may have

about this one, but don’t take too seriously the arguments ofhis accusers, they were quoting from a dead logos also.

If you want to know Jesus who is alive today you canpray this prayer with me. By turning to God you are simplyrepenting – the act of turning. So, let God amaze you, as hehas amazed me.

“I ask you Jesus to come into my life and show me theFather. Please take away the sin that blinds me from seeingyou and help me to understand the words of love you broughtfor me to be set free from my sin. I want to be with you whereyou are, here and now where I am. Please come into my lifeand fill me with your Holy Spirit. Thank you Jesus. Amen”
