PLOT IDEAS

We know that we definitely want to include innocent girls as the victims in our horror film opening as this is a typical convention but

although it is commonly seen in horror films, we think that it still always adds to the shock factor.

These girls were placed in a field because of their strange behaviour, and their survival

becomes the plot?

The girls have been captured by their boarding

school headmaster?

The girls are the antagonists?

The antagonist is female? (Going against a typical

convention of horror film antagonists).

Are the girls young or teenagers to add to the

shock factor?

The female girls have ran away and have been guided astray by the

antagonist male character?

LIGHTING IDEAS

We know that the lighting should definitely be dull and bleak for our horror film opening as that’s what the typical conventional lighting of a

horror film is.

Adding a sense of colour every now and then, to add a sense of fantasy and dreams?

Misty lighting so it’s hard to make out what is

happening at first?

Adding moonlight to connote a sense of

innocence?

Bland and bleak colours to add to the sense of death, loneliness and despair?

Lots of black and dark lighting to form darkness and detachment

from the real world?

Set in cloudy weather at dusk so there is

naturally bleak lighting?

SETTING IDEAS

We know that the setting should be significantly scary, and somewhere that you would not want to be alone. It should have a dark and spooky

feel to create a daunting mood and atmosphere for our horror film opening.

A cornfield? Crows are often situated in cornfields and they are very often seen in

horror films.

The woods? Things such as the trees and mud would all

contribute in making the setting atmospheric.

An old house, connoting the idea of

abandonment and could link to the character’s

situation?

A non-stereotypical horror film setting, such as a

normal house and normal surroundings?

A large field, where it is so open that there is

nowhere to run?

A school? This would add to the sense of

innocent school girls being targeted.
