Be reasonable• Take your available resources (staff time, money, existing materials,

How-to: Empower Your Ambassadors
• Put together a communications calendar: • What different strategies will you use (email, newsletters, website, email
signatures, social media, your blog)?
•What email contact lists to you have at your disposal: your donors, your board’s co-workers, your volunteers, your friends and family etc.
• What will be the main message of these communications (exciting, engaging and focusing on your main campaign goals)
• Be sure to include special plans for: Board Members, Last Year’s Donors, recurring donors, major donors, alumni and other key groups

•Build Excitement leading up to the giving day: a countdown to Idaho Gives on Facebook and twitter
•Creative and Engaging Posts: images, quotes, stories
•Schedule Posts ahead of time: (time of day matters!)

• Ask local businesses, Board Members, major donors to consider a matching gift. This is their opportunity to support your work in a new and unique way.
• Include matching opportunity as part of your communications to donors, use social media and email to share progress toward meeting your match
• Highlight from a partner giving day: • 29% of organizations secured a matching grant
• 63% of the total dollars raised• 58% of the total donors

• Plan a LIVE event for May 7th: happy hour, open house, etc. Make it easy for people to give: IPADs, QR codes on fliers

• Plan your thank you strategy ahead of time: email, a hand-written note or phone call

Small, Medium and Large Nonprofit Leaderboards
• All transactions made online via a nonprofit fundraising page, widget, or project page through Idahogives.org (including scheduled donations!)
• Each individual donor only counts once in this scoring, even if they make multiple donations to your organization
• Nonprofits of all sizes have the chance to win BIG
• Size of non-profit will be determined by the Idaho Nonprofit Center.
Small, Medium and Large Nonprofit Leaderboards
• Golden tickets will be given out every hour from 8 am MT until 10 pm MT.
• One donation each hour will be randomly selected, and the advised nonprofit will receive an extra $1,000 prize grant
• Golden tickets are drawn from the previous hour of donations (i.e. 8 am golden ticket is pulled from donations between 7am and 7:59 am)

Donor Appreciation Awards
• Every 500th donation will be recognized
• $250 prize grant to the advised nonprofit
• Last year this went all the way up to 11,500th donation…how many donations can we get to this year?
• Hourly and Leaderboard Prizes allow you to keep the excitement up throughout the day (build this into your messaging)
• Focus your activity on key hours to win hourly prizes, but balance that with a full day of strategy to ensure leaderboard places
• Keep an eye on idahogives.org on the Giving Day to track placement on the leaderboards and hourly prize winners
• Update your supporters on your leaderboard progress, get them to share and come back to your site to give again

• The focus to win these prizes should be on getting more donations, and more unique donors (build that into your campaign goals)
• Take the chance to celebrate and recognize your donors when they help your organization win prizes
• Tell your ambassadors about these prizes to focus their efforts

• Only organizations that register with Idaho Nonprofit Center will be eligible to receive prize grants based on leaderboards, Golden Tickets and Donor Appreciation Awards.
• There is no limit on the number of prizes a nonprofit can win
• Prizes will be disbursed by Idaho Nonprofit Center
