Education ScenarioIndia has 220 mn (22 crores) children who are enrolled in schools. Government schools have enrolled 130 mn (13 crores) students while 90 mn (9 crores) students are in private schools.

Of the 32 mn (3.2 crores) children those began school in 2004, less than half will complete 8 years of education

Out of 220 mn (22 crores) children only 26 mn (2.6 crores) that is 12.4 per cent reach class XII

13 mn (1.3 crores) working children

1 in 4 teachers never turn up in class

26% of teachers have no pre-service training

In 75% of schools there is only one teacher for multiple grades (MGTs)
