PRODUCT USE
The ICR-225 thermallyimprovedribbonwindowsystemisintendedforinstallationbyglazingprofessionalswithappropriateexperience.Subcontractorswithoutexperienceshouldemployaqualifiedpersontoprovidefieldinstructionandprojectmanagement.
Vistawalldoesnotcontroltheapplicationorselectionofitsproductconfigurations,sealantorglazingmaterialandassumesnoresponsibilitythereof.Itistheresponsibilityoftheowner,architectandinstallertomaketheseselectionsinstrictcompliancewithapplicablelawsandbuildingcodes.
Consult sealant manufacturer for review and recommendation of sealant application. Follow sealant manufacturer’s recommendations and literature for proper installation.
TheairandwaterperformanceoftheICR-225ribbonwindowsystemisdirectlyrelatedtothecompletenessandintegrityoftheinstallationprocess.Toinsuretopperformanceforthissystem,particularattentionshouldbegiventhefollowingprocedures.
PROTECTION aND STORaGE
Handleallmaterialcarefully.Donotdropfromthetruck.Stackwithadequateseparationsothematerialwillnotrubtogether.Storematerialofftheground,protectingagainsttheelementsandotherconstructionhazardsbyusingawellventilatedcovering.Removematerialfrompackageifwetorlocatedinadamparea.ForfurtherguidelinesconsultAAMApublication“CareandHandleofArchitecturalAluminumFromShoptoSite.”
Theglazinggasketsshouldbeinstalledsoastoavoidstretching,bucklesortears.Cornersmustbecuttotightlybutttogetherandsealasdescribedintheseinstructions.Avoiddamagetogasketandcornerjointsduringglazing.

Surfacestobesealedshouldbecleanedwithisopropylalcoholorsolventanddriedasrecommendedbysealantmanufacturertoremovealldirtandcuttingoils.Sealantatshearblocksshouldbeaminimum3/16”diameternominal,placedcompletelyaroundthetop,faceandbottomoftheshearblockwithoutgapsinthesealant.Exposedsurfacesshouldbecleanedafterinstallingthehorizontal.Inspectjointforcompletesealantcontact,especiallywherethehorizontalmeetsthefaceoftheverticalmember.Repairjointasrequired.

VariationsonthedetailsshownareinevitableandarenottheresponsibilityofVistawallwhendrawnbyothers.VistawallstronglyencouragesitscustomerstouseitsEngineeringdepartmentforcalculationsandshopdrawings.
ForStructuralSiliconeGlazingapplications,thestressonthesiliconeshouldnotexceed20PSI.Consultsealantmanufacturerforspecificapplicationtoensureproperloadingonsiliconejoint.
Consultglassmanufacturerforcorrectsettingblocklocationandlengthforglasssizesinexcessof40sq.ft.

Checkglassdimensionsforoverallsizeaswellasthickness.Vistawallcannotbeheldresponsibleforgasketsthatarenotwatertightduetoextremeglasstolerances.
Checkallmaterialuponarrivalatjobsiteforqualityandtodetermineanyshippingdamage.
Usingthecontractdocuments,completelycheckthesurroundingconditionsthatwillreceiveyourmaterials.Notifythegeneralcontractorbyletterofanydiscrepanciesbeforeproceedingwiththework.Failuretodosoconstitutesacceptanceofworkbyothertrades.
Checkshopdrawings,installationinstructions,architecturaldrawingsandshippingliststobecomefamiliarwiththeproject.Theshopdrawingstakeprecedenceandincludespecificdetailsfortheproject.Theinstallationinstructionsareofageneralnatureandcoverthemostcommonconditions.Duetovaryingjobconditionsallsealantusedmustbeapprovedbythesealantmanufacturertoensureitwillperformpertheconditionshownontheinstructionsandshopdrawings.Thesealantmustbecompatiblewithallsurfacesinwhichadhesionisrequired,includingothersealantsurfaces.Useprimerswheredirectedbysealantmanufacturer.Properlystoresealantattherecommendedtemperaturesandchecksealantforremainderofshelflifebeforeusing.
FIELD CONDITIONS
Allmaterialtobeinstalledmustbeplumb,levelandtrue.Aluminumtobeplacedindirectcontactwithmasonryorincompatiblematerialshouldbeisolatedwithaheavycoatofzincchromate,bituminouspaintornon-metallicmaterial.
Aftersealantissetandarepresentativeamountofthewallhasbeenglazed(250squarefeetormore),runwaterhosetestinaccordancewithAAMA501.2specificationstocheckinstallation.Onlargeprojectsthehosetestshouldberepeatedduringglazingoperation.
CLEaNING MaTERIaLS
Cement,plasterterrazzo,alkalineandacidbasedmaterialsusedtocleanmasonryisveryharmfultofinishes.Anyresidueshouldberemovedwithwaterandmildsoapimmediatelyorpermanentstainingwilloccur.Aspottestisrecommendedbeforeanycleaningagentisused.RefertotheArchitecturalFinishGuideintheDetailCatalog.
EXPaNSION JOINTS
Expansionjointsandperimeterjointsshownintheseinstructionsandintheshopdrawingsareshownatnominalsize.Actualdimensionsmayvaryduetoperimeterconditionsand/ordifferencesinmetaltemperaturebetweenthetimeoffabricationandthetimeofinstallation.Forexample,a12footunrestrainedlengthofaluminumcanexpandorcontract3/32”overatemperaturechangeof50°F.Anypotentialmovementshouldbeaccountedforatthetimeoftheinstallation.

Blindsordrapespreventwarmairfromadequatelyflowingoverthewindowsurface.
Warmairventilatorstoofarfromthewindowwillnotadequatelywashthewindowwithairtopreventcondensation.
Inextremeconditionsthefanofthehearingsystemshouldnotcycleonandoff,butshouldruncontinuously.
Someheatingsystemshaveawaterinjectionfeaturethatcanraisehumiditylevels.Thehigherthehumiditylevelsthemorelikelycondensationorfrostwillform.Raisingthetemperatureandreducinghumiditywillusuallysolvetheproblem.
Onrareoccasionsanextremelycoldstormmaycausefrosttoappearontheglassframing.Aspaceheaterandelectricfanblowingalongtheplaneofthewindowwallcanreduceoreliminatethistemporarycondition.
