Standard for the excellent quality of their information for families and professionals caring
for children with life limiting conditions.
Together for Short Lives has a range of excellent publications which can either be
bought, and in some cases, downloaded free of charge from their website.

Stephen’s Story raises over £3 million for teenage cancer charity Stephen Sutton is a 19-year-old facing a terminal cancer diagnosis, but this extraordinary
teenager has managed to make the most of his tragic situation, raising over £3 million for
charity by telling his story on social media. Even Robbie Williams has added his voice to
the campaign.

'Eye-opening' training for nurses in Children's Palliative Care
For the very first time, 16 professional nurses completing a year-long diploma in paediatrics at the University of the Free State’s School of Nursing in South Africa got to attend a 2 day workshop on paediatric palliative care.
“I thought palliative care was just about the end of life”. “I learnt that palliative care was not only recommended for children in the oncology department.” “Before this workshop, I would never want to give morphine to a child.” “When I know a child will die, I do not know what to say to the parents, so I tend to leave them alone.” These were just some of the sentiments expressed by nurses attending a recent 2 day workshop on paediatric palliative care that was held at the University of the Free State’s School of Nursing in Bloemfontein, South Africa. The 1st Pediatric Integrative Medicine Master Class: Advanced Pain and Symptom
Management is now open for registration. The Master Class will take place from 21 - 26
September, 2014 at the Marquette Hotel in Minneapolis
This annual Master Class, is presented by the Children’s Department of Pain Medicine,
Palliative Care and Integrative Medicine.
The Pediatric Integrative Medicine Master Class offers state-of-the-art education in the
holistic, non-pharmacological management of common symptoms such as pain, nausea,
fatigue, insomnia, depression and anxiety, particularly as they are experienced by children
and teens with cancer, life-limiting conditions, chronic pain, and those in palliative care or
hospice situations.
