What is IceCOLD® ?IceCOLD® is synthetic, 5th-generation catalyst technology.

• Synthetic means each ingredient in IceCOLD® is engineered to produce a specific result.

• IceCOLD® does not contain sulfur or other impurities that can damage your system. IceCOLD® is also non-toxic and non-hazardous, unlike PROAs (Polarized Refrigerant Oil Additives) and similar “additive” products made from mineral oils and petrochemicals.

• The catalysts in IceCOLD® cause it to work quickly. Catalysts are inputs to a chemical reaction but they are also outputs of the same reaction. Consequently catalysts are continually regenerated and not depleted. This is why you need only a small amount of IceCOLD® to get big energy savings.

How does IceCOLD® work? In 3 ways:

1. One catalyst reverses and eliminates oil fouling* by breaking surface tension (van der Waals forces) between oil molecules. This helps remove the plaque-like coating of oil that builds up on inner surfaces of the system so the refrigerant can come in direct contact with the heat exchanger coils, significantly improving heat transfer. The freed oil circulates through the system (as it should) and also accumulates in the cooling unit’s oil reservoir. This increase in the reservoir oil level is a clear indication of IceCOLD®’s effectiveness.

2. A second catalyst causes the refrigerant to evaporate at lower temperature. This pulls more heat from the supply air so the fan blows colder air. IceCOLD® can also improve comfort by reducing relative humidity up to 15%. Spaces cool more quickly and the compressor runs less. The cumulative effect of these two catalysts is an improvement in heat transfer capability -- up to 73%.

3. A lubricity agent increases the lubricity of the compressor oil by up to 54% (based on SAE 4-ball lubricity test). This means the compressor will perform better and last longer.

*In modern cooling systems, compressor oil circulates with the refrigerant. Much of the oil sticks to refrigerant feed lines and heat exchanger coils. This inhibits heat exchange. ASHRAE, the American Society of Heating, Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning Engineers, reports that this “oil fouling” can degrade system performance as much as 30%.

Compatibility with your cooling systemIceCOLD® is compatible with most types of cooling systems used in the commercial, industrial, home and transportation sectors.

IceCOLD® is compatible with: • Most compressors (reciprocal, etc.), heat exchangers (direct exchange or DX,

etc.) and refrigerants• Heat pumps - units that are used to cool in summer and heat in winter• Chillers• Roof Top units (RTUs), packaged systems, and split system configurations• Vapor compression systems • Specialized systems such refrigerated trucks (reefers) and Computer Room A/C

systems (CRACs)

Exceptions: IceCOLD® is currently not compatible with vapor absorption systems, centrifugal compressors, flooded compressors and the following refrigerants: ammonia, R11 and R123.

Booster charge: None for air-to-air systems. Required for chillers after 3 oil changes (usually after 8 to 10 years).

IceCOLD® Will Not Damage Your System

IceCOLD® is NOT a PROA (polarized refrigerant oil additive) or similar “additive”The concept of compressor oil additives is not new. Additives appeared about 15 years ago. Although the concept had merit, these products contained corrosive ingredients such as chlorine, sulfur and wax that could irreparably damage systems.

Over the past 6 years, IceCOLD® has taken this concept and advanced the technology by engineering a synthetic product with benign non-corrosive ingredients to achieve the desired effects.

IceCOLD® is non-toxic and non-hazardous• IceCOLD® does not contain: sulfur, chlorine, solvents, acids, soaps, waxes, oils, combustibles, corrosives, or

solids.• The Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) for IceCOLD rates it as benign.• IceCOLD® does not require special handling. It can be shipped on standard commercial aircraft.

IceCOLD® is supported by a 5 year warranty underwritten by The Hartford Lloyds.• The manufacturer of IceCOLD® provides up to a five-year warranty for any system into which the technology

is installed. The warranty is underwritten by Hartford Lloyds at $2.0 million per occurrence and has had no claims in over 6 years.

• If IceCOLD® is found to have been responsible for system failure, your compressor will be repaired or replaced at no cost to you.

Confirmation by third-party tests

2007 Intertek study: 1. No increase of refrigerant or compressor oil decomposition.2. No increase in corrosion of copper plating or tested metal coupons.3. No increase in particles, precipitates or insolubles in sealed tubes.4. No increase in block wear scar measured microscopically.5. Statistically insignificant (<5%) change in kinematic viscosity of

compressor oil

Items 1-5 are indicators of corrosion within a system… Based on the study’s findings, IceCOLD® by definition qualifies as a catalyst.

Material Safety Data Sheets• Tests for MSDS certification verified that IceCOLD® is benign, non-toxic

and non-hazardous and can be shipped via commercial aircraft.

Installation is easy!

Who: A licensed and trained IceCOLD® technician will perform the installation.

What: No additional hardware is added to the equipment.

Where: IceCOLD® is installed directly into the cooling unit’s compressor through the low-pressure port using a manual pump or a pre-pressurized container.

Note: Installation is a separate one-time cost which varies depending on the number of cooling systems treated.and their size.

Increase in SEER rating: In the following scenario, if IceCOLD® reduces electricity consumption by 18% for a 100-ton A/C unit that uses 85,714 kWh in a season, the Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio (SEER) rating will show a comparable increase: Before IceCOLD®: 1,200,000 btu/hr x 8 cooling-hr/day x 125 day/season / 85,714,000 w-hr = 14 SEER After IceCOLD® : 1,200,000 btu/hr x 8 cooling-hr/day x 125 day/season / 70,285,000 w-hr = 17.1 SEER

Reduction in carbon footprint: In the same scenario, the C02 emissions would be cut by 18% or 20,700 pounds of C02-equivalent for the cooling season: Before IceCOLD®: 85,714 kWh x 1.34 lb CO2/kWh = 114,857 lb CO2 After IceCOLD® : 70,285 kWh x 1.34 lb CO2/kWh = 94,182 lb CO2
