    About the ConferenceThe international conference onAdvances in MechanicalEngineering (AME-2008) isscheduled to be held duringDecember 15-17, 2008. Theobjective of this conference is tobring together experts from

    academic institutions, industriesand research organizations andprofessional engineers forsharing of knowledge, expertiseand experience in the emergingtrends related to MechanicalEngineering education andresearch.

    The conference isstructured as plenary lecturesfollowed by parallel sessions.The plenary lectures will bedelivered by the eminent

    personalities at internationallevel invited to introduce thetheme of the conference. Eachparallel session starts with aninvited talk on specific topicfollowed by contributed papers.

    About the InstituteThe institute was initiallyestablished as SardarVallabhbhai Regional College ofEngineering & Technology in1961 and was upgraded byGovernment of India as aNational Institute of Technology

    on 4th October, 2002. Theinstitute is one of the pioneeringinstitutions and has contributedmany outstanding engineers inIndia & abroad. It is conductingseven UG programs and fifteenPG programs in engineeringand Ph.D. program in alldisciplines of engineering andapplied sciences.     About the DepartmentThe Department of MechanicalEngineering came intoexistence in the year 1961. Thedepartment has 40 qualified anddedicated faculty members withthe specialization in variousareas. The department isconducting two UG programs(Mechanical Engg. & ProductionEngg.), five PG programs

    (Mechanical Engg., TurboMachines, Industrial ProcessEquipment Design, CAD/CAMand Thermal System Design)and a research program leadingto Ph.D. degree.
