The Accountancy profession as an integral part in the process of transition has

economic activity. The shift in the business philosophies due to dawn of a new
world trade order emphasize a broadened role for the accounting professionals
as strategy formulators and facilitators. While moving to the role of a value creator,
the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) has endeavoured to imbibe
the best practices model by analyzing the best approach as available amongst

fraternity including doyens from Trade and Industry in India.
AboutICAI
ICAIInternationalConference
The ICAI has been a partner in India’s development for the last
seventy years and has been on an accelerated growth path
since 1949.
The uniqueness of the CA profession is that the learning
process never stops. It does not stop when a CA student
graduates as a Chartered Accountant, but continues as
he updates himself with the regular changes that are
relevant to the profession. This attitude enables him
to confront challenges with aplomb while moulding
his personality in a holistic manner. Consequently, it
paves the way for the increase in trust placed in the
Indian Accountancy Profession by the various
stakeholders, thus symbolizing the triumph of the
Profession.
This is the reason why today ICAI has grown to more than
3,00,000 members in India and across the globe. We have a
robust infrastructure comprising 5 Regional Ofces, 164
Branches and 34 International Chapters. We also have more
than 7,50,000 students who are being groomed to take on the
mantle of becoming the elite nance professionals in the
country.
ICAI has grown from being a body for professionals and
professional growth to becoming a powerhouse of knowledge,
invited to offer inputs to various Regulators, Government
Bodies and Organisations such as CAG, RBI, Union Ministry of
Corporate Affairs, SEBI, CBDT, IRDA, etc. to name a few.Taking it further, ICAI is also invited towards assisting
national organisations in Drafting of Income Tax Laws, Competit ion Law, Company Law, GST and
Commercial and Economic Legislations, etc.ICAI’s tremendous growth is both qualitative and quantitative, thus ensuring that the Institute is always at the cutting edge of growth via harnessing all possible opportunities both national and
international.Chartered Accountants are constantly keeping track
of changing developments while also upgrading their knowledge base and honing their skill sets. Thus, while
holding on to the core standards and procedures, we also have to perform in a more proactive and inventive manner. The one factor that enables to achieve all three goals are seminars. The ICAI International Conference is the pinnacle of all these programs and it will denitely provide the motivation and inspiration to all nance professionals to Catalyzing Reforms and Creating Values on a global scale.
President’sMessage
It gives me immense pleasure to invite you all to The International Conference being organized by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) on the theme "Accountancy Profession: Catalyzing Reforms, Creating Values" scheduled to be held from December 6 to 7, 2019 at The Jamshed Bhabha Theatre, National Centre for the Performing Arts (NCPA), Mumbai, India.
The shift in the business philosophies due to changing global economy has broadened the role for accounting professionals as strategy formulators and facilitators. Today, the Accounting Profession plays a multifaceted and crucial role as a value creator and contributor to the economic growth. In this dynamic world, the opportunities for Accounting Professionals have increased manifold and at the same time, the expectations of stakeholders from the profession too have increased exponentially. The opportunities and challenges have necessitated deliberations on our role in creating an investment climate of trust, of signicantly contributing to the economic growth and development, and aiding corporates to follow ethical business practices.
With this intent, we have conceptualized the International Conference which aims to highlight the enabling role of Accountants in catalyzing reforms and at the same time creating economic values including exploration of new pathways to accounting excellence for the next generation of accountants. The conference would be a forum of communication for academicians, researchers, practitioners, and policymakers in the areas of accounting and nance.
The topics are judiciously selected and are germane for the International Conference and the timing of this conglomeration is perfect. The stakeholders across the globe perceive a superior role for the accountants as policy formulators and as professional partners in the overall growth of an economy. This Conference will attract participation of eminent accountants and other faculties across the globe predominantly from the emerging nations.
I am sure that the deliberations of the Conference would contribute thought-provoking competencies to all the participants of different backgrounds nationally as well as internationally viz., academics, research, practice, policy making, etc.
I hope that delegates will nd the Conference both enjoyable and valuable, and experience the architectural, cultural and natural beauty of the City of Dreams— Mumbai!
With warm regards,

Placesof Interest
Elephanta Caves
As you stand at Mumbai’s most well-known spot of tourist interest – the Gateway of India – the most overwhelming desire you will experience is to step into a boat and explore the Arabian Sea. But this need not just be a whim. It can serve a purpose too if you take the ride to visit the Elephanta Island which is just 10 kilometers from Mumbai. Not only is the island host to a bounty of nature in the form of lush plantations of palm, mango and tamarind trees but is also home to ancient cave temples that have been carved out of rock and which have been declared a World Heritage Site.
Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Museum
If ever a window was required to peep into the fascinating
world of art and antiquities, the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj
Museum formerly known as the Prince of Wales Museum of
Western India, at Mumbai, would be the right place to visit.
The museum has a representative collection of various
forms of art from the Indian subcontinent and also to a
certain extent works of art from China, Japan and European
countries. Additionally, it houses a study collection of
natural history specimens.
Global Vipassana Pagoda
As an architectural wonder that helps promote peace and harmony, the Global Vipassana Pagoda near Gorai in Mumbai is a landmark monument that brings us closer to the philosophies and teachings of the great Buddha. It also has the distinction of being Asia’s tallest stone structure that majestically rises aga ins t the background o f the shimmering waters of the Arabian Sea.
Haji Ali Dargah
A tomb on an island in the middle of the Arabian Sea!
Doesn’t that immediately sound enticing enough?
But there is more to the Haji Ali Dargah in Mumbai
than just its location. Such is the reverence that this
Muslim saint commands that his nal resting place
draws the faithful from all communities who come
here with the rm hope that their prayers will be
answered. With a mosque located adjacent to the
tomb complex, the edice is also a brilliant specimen
of the Indo-Islamic style of architecture.
RBI Monetary Museum
Have you ever thought that a note of ̀ 100 or a coin of ̀ 5
may actually have a lot of history behind it? Yes, the
currency in India has several interesting facets to it and this
is amply illustrated at the RBI Monetary Museum in
Mumbai which offers a fascinating glimpse into the world
of money beginning from the time when emperors used
gold coins to the current trend of e-money.
Siddhivinayak Temple
With the rm belief that nothing new
should ever be embarked upon without
invoking the blessings of Lord Ganesh,
the Shree Siddhivinayak Ganapati
Temple at Prabhadevi is understandably
the most popular of places of worship in
M u m b a i . I t w a s b u t a h u m b l e
consecration by Mrs. Deubai Patil in
early 19th century that is supposed to
have started attracting hordes of
worsh ippers soon a f te r Ind ia ’s
independence.
Gateway of India
