CLIENT'S SPECIALITIES

According to collected research my ideas should be based on few specialities of ICA:

• limited budget. Idea should not be very expensive to pro-duce and realise

• according to that, it is better to skip digital technologies and try to improve things ICA already have

• it is better to produce interactive object that will work without human supervising.

• it can be helpful to make interaction object that will help ICA to earn some money

• there are 3 LCD screens and 1 projector that can be used for interaction.

• client don’t want interactive objects to be interruptive for exhibitions

• according to that, it’s better to locate interaction object on the entrance, in cafe or outside ICA

• ICA have a charity evening once a year

IDEA

INTERACTIVE ‘CHARITY’ CANVASInteractive charity canvas is an interactive object that will make every visitor be able to participate in it. The main point of it is that every ICA’s visitor would be able to draw on this empty canvas. They will leave step in ICA history and they will be a creators of their own contemporary art. This canvas may stay on wall for few months or for even a year, while it will be completely full. And when it’s full it can be sold on ICA annual charity dinner, to earn money for future ICA development. In that case, simple empty canvas and few colors can be useful for both visitors and workers of ICA. As soon as the most popular interactions in museums are different workshops where people can draw or make craft, they will be interested in drawing abso-lutely free and having fun while standing in queue or when they are already finished enjoying the exhibition.

WHERE?

I decided to put canvas on the left side wall just across the entrance. Thin is the best location because loads of people always walking around there. For instance people who stay in the queue for cinema will be able to spend few minutes on drawing and have fun. Also, peo-ple having rest on sofas will be able to do that as well.

MATERIALS

There is a huge range of ma-terials that can be used it this project. The main problem is dirt that can be caused by high popularity and demand to draw. That is why, as well as acrylic coloures, also can be used:• Big brush pens• Spray paints• Pastel crayonsThey will be quite fine to draw on classic cotton canvas

WHAT ELSE CAN BE ADDED?

When you have the fresh white sheet of paper you have the only question : what to draw? I suggest number of templates that will be used as a start point. This trapharets maybe colored on the canvas to give people an inspiration or motivation to continue it. Trapharets can be made with a link to exhibition ( doesn’t matter if it’s new or old one). One piece of artwork can be made as a template to start with. For example great trapharet made from woodcut print of Billy Childish who had his exhibition in ICA in 2010, or maybe artwork from ‘Poor. Old. Tired. Horse.’(2009) can be done as a tem-plate?If you want to make people draw some-thing crazy Nathaniel Mellor’ (who’s xhibition just started in ICA) work ‘Gi-antbum’ possibly can become a trap-haret too. My second suggestion is to give peo-ple freedom of choice. They may bring their pencils or crayons as well as use those provided.

HOW WILL IT LOOKS?

So, it will be a plain white canvas with a possibility of few templates colored on it as a starting point. Also, there will be a shelf with artsupplies that can be used. I also suggest to have a sign underneath the canvas with slogan : ‘create now with ICA’.
