Motivation Smarter Planet Priorities des IBM SWG Leadership Teams

1. Industry Frameworks are SWG’s vehicle for

delivering Smarter Planet solutions

2. Most Frameworks address multiple Smarter Planet

Themes

3. Five Solutions have been designated as “priority”

by the Senior Leadership Team, driving a cross-

IBM increase in investment and focus

4. We are in the process of defining the solutions

- repeateable patterns

- best/good practices around how to solve customer problems

- demonstrating domain expertise and specific code (assets)

Common goals, values focused on

- Process improvements, faster time to value, faster payback, speed, cost savings, implement

standards consistently, becoming more flexible, looking for ways to grow their business

Strategic Business Drivers

IBM’s Industry-specific services + software + hardware offerings are built in context of an industry’s strategic business drivers

Industry Solutions

Where there is high value and demand, IBM pre-composes composite business services & other IP into re-usable Industry Solutions leveraging ISV capability

Where demand & opportunity is not yet sufficient, IBM addresses our client’s business needs with customized solutions

Industry Framework

Where there is high value and demand, IBM is compiling & enhancing software offerings into Industry Frameworks based on SOA that support the unique needs of each business domain, leveraging ISV capability

In business domains where demand or opportunity does not (yet) justify creating a new Industry Framework, clients can directly leverage IBM’s strong software portfolio & ISV assets embodied by the SOA Foundation
