IBAK Inspection and Rehabilitation Systems in Modular Design

  • – 2 – – 3 –

Right from the beginning, IBAK Inspection Systems were a modular concept: the cam-era heads are suitable for both camera trac-tors and push rod systems, the camera trac-tors and camera systems can be operated for the most part with all cable winches and control systems. In response to the ever-increasing speed of technological change and the higher technological demands on camera resolu-tion and image quality, new products have been continuously developed at IBAK over the last few years: from small push rod sys-tems through manhole inspection cameras to vehicle-based systems with Full HD or Ultra HD components. In addition, the port-folio of cutting robots has been constantly enhanced and integrated into the IBAK TV inspection range. The complete IBAK product range is under permanent review and is modernised in line

with the market requirements. To further develop a clearly structured modularity with future potential, some products of the IBAK portfolio have been re-engineered and sev-eral new products have been added. The result is a system of modular compo-nents that can be flexibly combined with each other and extended with further func-tions and units at any time. Depending on the field of application, the IBAK analog cameras can be operated with

    Create Projects and Generate Reports

IKAS recorder software is installed on all control consoles. With this basic software, vid-eos and photos can be captured, saved and transferred.

With IKAS mini, inspections of sewer systems can be captured according to the EN 13508-2 standard valid in Europe.

Input of defects in sewer sections and manholes, photo and video recordings are easy to enter and save through intuitive menu guidance.

The inspection results are documented in clearly arranged reports and saved in PDF format. Otherwise, with a USB stick, the data can also be simply passed on to the cus-tomer. Thus, the defects data are clearly presented and can be viewed together with the corresponding photos and videos. This makes all defects in sewers recognisable and comprehensible.

IKAS mini gives the inspector flexibility during inspections without tying him down to fixed sets of rules. When in addition inspections are to be performed according to com-munal rule sets or specific data exchange formats (such as DWA-M 150), an upgrade to the professional IKAS evolution can be purchased at any time.

IKAS evolution offers the possibility of purchasing specific licences for any application purpose. On the following pages you will find a rough overview of the possibilities of-fered by IKAS evolution licences.

    MicroLiteCompact push rod camera system

The IBAK MicroLite is a compact push rod camera system for the inspection of house and estate drainage systems. It features simple operation via one of the control consoles BP1, BP2 or BP100. These are equipped with a 10 inch touch display (BP1) and optionally also with one (BP2) or two joy-sticks (BP100). After a short training period, the systems can be reliably operated through intuitive menu guidance. Text can be input or photo and video files (MPEG 4 AVC/H.264) can be saved on the integrated PC with IKAS recorder. Data is exchanged via a USB stick. With its weight of approx. 16.5 kilogrammes, the MicroLite is a favourably priced compact starter system. This small coiler for push rod operation is available in two different versions: the MicroLite with a BP1 and 30 metres of push rod with a permanently mounted axial camera type AxialCam. This version permits inspections to be performed in DN 50 upwards and is eminently suitable if the section to be inspected requires a particularly bend-capable push rod.The second model is a MicroLite with a BP2 and 40 metres of even more bend-capable push rod with a plug-in AxialCam or the small pan and rotate camera NANO. With this system, lateral inspections are possible in DN 80 pipes upwards.

The control consoles of both versions are equipped with IKAS recorder basic software with which videos and still photos can be captured. Depending on the requirements regarding inspections and the transfer of inspection data, software types IKAS mini or IKAS evolution can be installed optionally.

    MiniLiteCompact push rod camera system

Like the MicroLite, the IBAK MiniLite is a compact push rod camera system for the inspection of hose and estate drainage sys-tems. Whereas the MicroLite is an ideal, easy-to-handle starter model for simple lat-eral inspections, the MiniLite was designed to cover an as wide as possible range of applications thanks to its modular extendibil-ity and numerous accessories.

The MiniLite has an exchangeable coiler drum. With the 80 m push rod version, the cameras are of plug-in type; compatible are all current IBAK push rod cameras. In com-bination with the ORION, the NANO or the POLARIS optional diameter measure-ments can be performed. Depending on the

requirements, the system can be additionally equipped with an extension kit and software. IKAS recorder software is available for sim-ple projects without any complicated data exchange formats. If you want to perform inspections of sewer systems according to the EN 13508-2 standard valid in Europe, IKAS mini can be installed and the inspec-tion results can be printed out in the form of clearly arranged reports or output in PDF format.

If specific data exchange formats are required, or if a 3D site plan is to be drawn up after a 3D-GeoSense pipe run measurement, the use of complete IKAS evolution software is recommended.

    * not included in the scope of supplyThe MiniLite is standardly supplied with an exchange drum 500/10 with 80 metres of Perfect Push Rod. This features outstanding rigidity and a long range. However, depending on the area of operation, exchange drums with a Magic Push Rod are also available for the MiniLite. This is shorter and more flexible than the Perfect Push Rod and is an alternative particularly in combination with a plug-in or permanently mounted AxialCam, if a specially bend-capable solution is required for ramified pipe runs. Magic Push Rods and Perfect Push Rods are also available with a 512-Hz locator transmitter or can be refitted with one.

    Ergonomic handrests for BP1, BP2, BP100

The voice signal is transmitted via a Bluetooth headset to the MiniLite and from there by a cable to the inspection vehicle.

Accessories for Greater Con-venienceErgonomic handrests are available for the control consoles. They can be ordered as accessories and are easy to install. To increase the stability when winding on the push rod, in particular on uneven or wet ground, there is an additional base, also for buyer installation.

Extension Kit To inspect hard-to-access sewer sections and laterals from the vehicle, the MiniLite can be connected to big systems with an extension kit. In this case, the report soft-ware and the capture hardware in the vehi-cle can also be used for push rod operation. The video signal and the length counter data are transmitted by the camera cable. The operator in the vehicle communicates with the operator at the push rod system via an intercom system.

    IKAS evolution 3D GeoSense

In combination with a 3D-GeoSense soft-ware module, an additional counter and a camera equipped with a 3D sensor and the DEIMOS camera guide device, 3D sensor pipe run measurements can be performed with the MiniLite. The measurement is per-formed in a single operation together with the TV inspection. The measured pipe run is shown in real time during the inspection and is saved with x,y,z coordinates according to the reference coordinate system. The IKAS evolution MAP Route Assistant is addition-ally required for this. Depending on the IKAS evolution sewer interface used, the result-ing site plan can be exported in all supported sewer data formats. Adaptation to precisely defined position coordinates, commonly termed geo-fixed points, can be performed with the assistant functions of the software.

With its weight of 40 kg, the system can also be easily transported to hard-to-access locations. In addition, the coiler and the con-trol console can be flexibly arranged so that ergonomic working procedures are possible at all times. As an electric motor is used, a power outlet is all that is required to operate the NanoGa-tor. No power-consuming, noisy generators and compressors are necessary.

NanoGatorEfficient in Laterals For DN 100

    upwards- portable- direction-changing

    function- 90° bend-capable

With the NanoGator, IBAK has a lateral cutter in the product range which is particu-larly suitable for small diameters (from DN 100 upwards) and complex lateral networks. With its spherical form, the actively steera-ble cutter arm and the easy-slide yet robust push rod (40 metres), the NanoGator is the ideal choice for complex lateral networks with small diameters. The brushless elec-tric motor used in the NanoGator is power-ful and very long-life. The water-cooled cutter cuts gently into the material at a speed of up to 20,000 r.p.m. and requires no clamping device. The diamond-coated cutter tool cuts almost any material and was designed by IBAK exclusively for the NanoGator. The inno-vative cutter head is equipped with a pat-ented bearing which is uncoupled from the motor shaft. For the user, this means that the bearing is changed each time the tool is exchanged so that the shaft and the motor are very durable and you always work with a new, unworn bearing. Furthermore, as the bearing is integrated into the tool, it

was possible to implement a compact and space-saving design which, in combination with the high performance, is unique on the market. The cutter tool is simple to exchange (even at the site of operations) with a quick exchange tool specially designed for the NanoGator. The two integrated cameras supply images from two different perspectives so that you have an optimum view of the site of the cut-ting operations. The cameras are cleaned with water to avoid any impairment of the visibility from grinding dust etc. The NanoGator system is both efficient and user-friendly. The cutter motor can be started and stopped with a foot switch so that you do not have to let go of the push rod and the joystick. Even in the smallest dimen-sions with 90° bends the NanoGator can be easily retracted thanks to its shape and the installed friction clutch: in snake mode, the cutter arm moves back and forth like a snake, thus actively facilitating retraction of the NanoGator. With control console BP100, the cutter is easy to operate and videos and

photos can be captured with data overlay. The data is easily exchanged via a USB port. The BP100 is equipped with an integrated PC so that further software such as IKAS Gator can be installed without any problem. This ensures perfect data communication. Low operating costs, low noise emissions and a high degree of efficiency make the NanoGator an optimum system for cutting in laterals.

ASPECTAA Quick Look into the Sewer

    Sewer MirrorASPECTA

The ASPECTA is a manhole zoom camera – also known as an electronic sewer mir-ror. With this camera, you can have a look into associated sewers from the manhole without having to enter it. The ASPECTA is used to check the operational status and can be utilised for instance to plan needs-based sewer cleaning and additional inspec-tion operations. Thus, it is a simple, rapid and cost-effective instrument for scheduling further measures. Thanks to the high zoom factor (30 x optical) and the lighting which is adequate even in large diameter sewers, a view is also possible up to 30 metres into parts of sewer sections a long way from the manhole. With the laser integrated into the current model, the distance to particu-lar points can be measured over the entire length of 30 metres. The camera is placed in the manhole with the aid of a telescopic rod and positioned in front of the sewer. A mounted base to place the camera in the

invert and a motor driven pan mechanism make for easier, precise handling. The stand-ard rechargeable battery used is an uncom-plicated method of power supply as batter-ies can be easily obtained or recharged.

The ASPECTA is operated optionally with control console BP2 or BP100, both of which can also be used with the other portable IBAK systems.

Ideally, IKAS Cleaner cleaning software is used for operating the ASPECTA because with this the captured job data regarding the degree of soiling and the cleaning oper-ations performed in the sewer section can be directly transferred digitally to the sewer data manager software. This data can be supplemented with the ASPECTA image information so that paper-free data com-munication is maintained between e.g. the cleaning vehicle and the information system.
