Allied to these are a number of related areas including data protection, database protection, privacy, design rights, domain names and the like. In the entertainment law area the key focus is on the creation, provision and delivery of content in relation to print, films, broadcasts, cable programmes, musical works and sound recordings. There is also involvement with media law including defamation and privacy and authors’ rights in a more general sense. The IBA IP and Entertainment Law Committee provide Members with a forum in which to discuss all this and more.

Healthcare and Life Sciences Law Committee overviewThe Healthcare and Life Sciences Law Committee is concerned with all aspects of healthcare law, including such areas as medicine law, intellectual property, biotech, regulatory issues and scientific developments, on a worldwide basis. The committee provides a forum of discussion among health lawyers, and aims to provide regular updates of important changes in health law and to organise seminars on health law within the IBA. Additionally, the Healthcare and Life Sciences Law Committee works with the following committees to form the Law and Individual Rights Section: Family Law; Indigenous Peoples.

Technology Law Committee overviewThe Technology Law Committee of the International Bar Association brings together lawyers practising aspects of the law particularly relevant to modern technologies. They have in common that they deal with developing bodies of law coming to grips with the new questions posed by new technologies. The mandate of the Technology Law Committee is broad and includes virtually any kind of technology.
