The nine planets, their moons, and order from the sun.
Mercury
Mercury is the closest planet from the sun and it has no moons. It is also the eighth largest planet.
Venus
Venus, the second planet from the sun is the sixth largest planet. Venus has no moons, just like Mercury.
Earth
Earth, our home planet, is the third planet from the sun. Luna, is Earths only moon. Earth is the fifth largest planet.
Mars
Mars is the fourth planet from the sun and the seventh largest planet. Mars has two moons, Deimos and Phobos.
Jupiter
Jupiter is the fifth planet from the sun and the largest planet. Jupiter has about sixty two moons. The four moons discovered in 1610 include Callisto, Europa, Ganymede, and Io.
Saturn
Saturn is the sixth planet from the sun and is the second largest planet. Saturn also has about sixty two moons. Some of these moons are Titan, Rhea, Atlas, and Pan.
Uranus
Uranus is the seventh planet from the sun and the third largest(in diameter). Uranus has twenty seven moons. Some of these moons are Miranda, Ariel, Umbriel, and Titania.
Neptune
Neptune is the eighth planet from the sun and the fourth largest(in diameter). Neptune has thirteen moons. Some of these moons are Triton, Nereid, Naiad, and Thalassa.
Pluto
Pluto is no longer classified as a “planet” but is classified as a “dwarf planet”. It is the smallest planet and orbits beyond the orbit of Neptune. Pluto has two moons, Charon and Nix.
Activity
Although you may think that remembering the order of the planets from the sun may not be easy, but there is an easy way to remember. The use of an acronym. The most common acronym for remembering the nine planets is(with the acception of Pluto):
