22
Further points to note

Should discuss with supervisor first!
Worst case scenario could be FAIL in IA/IBSP!

FAQ
1. Can students solicit their own placement?
Answer: It can be discussed with IA coordinators and programme leaders. Should be fine as long as MILOs are matched and assessments can be made.
2. Is “Statutory Minimum Wage” (SMW) applicable?
Answer: SMW does not apply to student intern. Department would prepare a “Confirmation of ‘student intern’ status under the Minimum Wage Ordinance (Cap. 608)”.
24
FAQ
3. Does the company need to enroll MPF for the student?
Answer: As long as there is an employment relationship (employment contract) between the student and the offering company for a continuous period of not less than 60 days, the enrollment of MPF is required. The employers need to decide whether IA arrangement will involve an employment.
25
FAQ
4. Is student covered by insurance?
Answer: Students joining industrial attachment are covered under the VTC Group Personal Accident Insurance and a Personal Liability Insurance. Students are suggested to purchase additional insurance depending on the nature of work and risk of specific industry.
