1.2. General information
These starting up instructions are applicable to IDM heat pumps TERRA with Navigator 1.0 Control. The following instructions describe how the starting up is performed by the IDM service engineer.
In order to do so, relevant parameters for starting up in the Navigator 1.0 Control are described. Descrip-tions regarding assembly, function and the operation of the heat pumps are featured in the separate docu-mentation provided.
The Navigator 1.0 program versions are generally prepared for connecting an internal expansion set for 2 other mixer circuits. The heating circuits C and D are, however, only possible in systems with the expansion set (accessories). Furthermore, 3 further mixer circuits can be controlled via an additional ex-ternal heating circuit expansion module.
1.3. Safety Instruct ions
Installation and maintenance work can be hazardous due to high system pressure, high temperatures and live parts and may only be operated by specialist staff.
In addition, all safety instructions in the relevant docu-mentation, stickers on the heat pump itself and all other applicable safety regulations must be observed. Stickers and safety instructions must not be removed from the system.
1.4. Transpor t
During transport, the heat pump must never be inclined more than 30. The heat pump must not be transported on the connection fi ttings. The transport packaging may only be removed if the heat pump is located at its installation location.
1.5. Construct ion dr ying and screed heat ing
The heat pump is not designed for the increased heat requirements when drying out construction work or heating plaster or screed. This must be covered by equipment to be provided by the customer if required.
1. General information
Heat pumps may only be installed by competent specialist staff and commis-sioned by a customer service company trained to do so by IDM-Energiesysteme GmbH.
When working on the heat pump, the system must be deactivated and secured against reactivation.

3.2. Prerequis i tes for s tar t ing up
Before starting up the TERRA HGL heat pump, the heating side and the brine circuit side must be checked for tightness, rinsed thoroughly, fi lled and bled carefully. Furthermore it must also be ensured that:
- The heating and any storage tank must be fi lled and bled.
- In the case of brine circuit heat pumps the brine circuit must be fi lled with antifreeze (-15C), rinsed and bled. The expansion vessel on the brine side must also be fi lled.
- The electrical installation must be completed and fuse-protected in line with legal requirements.
- The heat pump may only be switched on if it is fi lled on the cold side and on the heating side, and if the electrical connections have been checked.
- During starting up, the fl ow temperature limit must also be set.
- The switch-off point 55C (for refrigerant R 407 C) or 62C (for refrigerant R134A) must be checked and, if necessary, the set switch-off temperature changed.
- The heat pump is equipped with a starting up delay of 10 minutes so that the compressor only starts running after this period.
- If the heat pump is to be drained on the heating side for frost protection, the connection hose on the heat pump return must be unfastened.
- In the case of Terra CL Heat Pumps, during starting up a buffer temperature of min. 15C must be guar-anteed in order to ensure the required temperature for the reference defrosting.
- The dimension of the piping and the circulation pumps must correspond to the heat pump output otherwise proper starting up will not be possible.
- The expansion vessel on the heating side must be sized according to the total heating water content.
- Furthermore, the electrical connection and the size of the fuses must be checked. Brine and ground water pumps must be fi tted with a motor protecting switch by the manufacturer.
3.3. Commissioning
If the above points are satisfi ed the system can be put into operation.
After actuating the main switch the initialisation of the Navigator screen starts.
During the fi rst start up the control starts in the starting up Wizard.
Or, if the parameter "Heat Pump Con-fi gured" is set to no, the control system starts the starting up Wizard after initiali-sation.
If this setting changes to yes after com-pleting the initialisation, the starting up Wizard is no longer shown during the start up.
During the starting up and maintenance work on the heat pump, it is recom-mended to remove the SIM card from the GSM Module if using one since when switching off the control an SMS is sent to the predefi ned service numbers.
In the event of modifying the equipment confi guration, it is recommended to carry out a new start of the control.

None: The heating circuit is not activated.
Floor: The heating circuit acts as a mixer heating circuit.
Radiator: The function of this setting corresponds to the fl oor function however, as standard, has higher set limits and heating curves.
Unregulated: The heating circuit is designed as a pump heating circuit. The heating fl ow temperature is controlled by switching the heat pump on and off. By defi nition, this leads to considerable temperature fl uctua-tions in the heating circuit.
Constant: The mixer circuit operate with a fi x temperature for cooling and heating between the cooling and heating limits.
With the constant circuit it is only possible to infl uence the circuit by the room thermostat. There is no fl ow temperature adjustment by the room sensor.
HSx02 function Automatic: If heating circuit A has been confi gured as an automatic heating circuit, the changeover of the heating side cooling valve will be taken from it. In the case of heating circuits B-G, instead of Automatic the indication "Like heating circuit A" appears. If heating circuit A is in cooling mode, any other heating circuit wishing to cool may carry out the cooling control. If heating circuit A is in heating mode, all other heating circuits may also only heat.
Only heat: This heating circuit is hydraulically only suitable for heating. No cooling demand is generated from this heating circuit.
Only cooling: The selected circuit is only prepared hydraulically for cooling. This circuit does not generate any heating demand.

Heat meter parameters
Par. No. Name Description
WQ001 Flow impulses Depending on the respective fl ow meter for measuring heat volume, the number of impulses per litre of fl ow must be entered.
WQ002 HGL impulses Depending on the respective fl ow meter for measuring heat volume, the number of impulses per litre of fl ow must be entered.
Sensor adjust-ment
In order to measure the volume of heat correctly, a sensor adjustment of the respective fl ow and return sensors must be carried out.
When selecting the Sensor Adjustment parameter, the charging pump is operated without switching on the compressor. This enables the same temperature to be set on the displayed sensors after a short period (ca. 5 min).
If the same temperature does not set between the sensors, the sensors must be matched to the HGL sensors via the adjustable Offset. Whilst doing this, the HGL and the fl ow sensor should not be corrected downwards.
The sensor adjustment must be carried out separately for heating and cooling.
In order to set the Offset parameter for cooling, you must switch between heating and cooling using the right-hand selection key and the arrow keys.

4.7. Commissioning Terra DE - EVR
EVR technology uses a valve with an electronic step motor drive as an expansion valve. The goal of this is to keep overheating as low as possible via the control in order to enable an improved degree of effi ciency
Overheating of the cooling system is calculated via:
Overheating = outlet temperature of cooling agent from collector - evaporation temperature (conversion from pressure)
4.7.1. Configurat ion EVR
Commissioning takes place the same as with all heat pumps with a Navigator control, i.e. via the commis-sioning assistant. After switching the machine type (CF002) over to 'Terra D', the additional parameter 'EVR technology (ER001) is displayed in the confi gu-ration menu.

Parameter EVR technology
Par. No. Name Description
ER002 EVR valve start posi-tion
The start opening indicates the expansion valve's valve setting when the heat pump starts up. The factory-set start opening is a benchmark value and may vary with each system. For this reason, if overheating is constant for the compressor's minimum running period, the current valve position is accepted as the start opening.
ER003 Overheat target value
This indicates the target value for overheating in the cooling circulation.
ER004 Proportional segment EVR control
This value is preset by the manufacturer and is reset to match the direct evaporator during the auto-tuning process.
ER005 Reset time EVR control
This value is preset by the manufacturer and is reset to match the direct evaporator during the auto-tuning process.
ER006 Hold-back time EVR control
This value is preset by the manufacturer and is reset to match the direct evaporator during the auto-tuning process.
ER007 Low-pressure limit This specifi es the suction gas pressure limit. A low-pressure error is triggered below this limit.
EVR auto-tuning This parameter starts auto-tuning to provide the control parameters.
Overview EVR technology
The menu item 'overview EVR technology' displays important data for the EVR technology.
4.7.2. EVR technology set t ings

4.7.3. Auto-tuning
The menu item EVR auto-tuning starts the auto-tuning function. During auto-tuning, the control parameters for the ground evaporator are provided automatically.
The auto-tuning process is started once and runs automatically. Auto-tuning last a total of approx. 30 min.
During auto-tuning, the control parameters for the respective ground evaporator are provided automati-cally. This ensures that the heat pump and the evapo-rator are calibrated to each other optimally.
The auto-tuning process takes place as follows:
- After auto-tuning begins, the heat pump runs in heating mode. The valve setting of the electronic expansion valve is set to start opening +25%.
- Once the heat pump's overheating reaches a constant value, the valve is positioned at the start opening.
- The overheating increases. The process stops once overheating becomes constant.
- The control is able to specify the PID control pa-rameters for the direct evaporator by recording the jump function.
If a low pressure error occurs during auto-tuning, then the expansion valve's start opening needs to be set slightly larger. Auto-tuning needs to be started again after this is done!
4.7.4. Control process
Before the compressor can be started, the electronic expansion valve must be positioned (start position). If the compressor is started, the expansion valve will remain in the start position for 10 min. The control for the expansion valve is authorised once this period elapses.
- If the overheating is greater than the target value, the electronic expansion valve opens. - If the overheating is less than the target value, the electronic expansion valve closes.

The slave software is different from the master software. Make absolutely sure that the correct software is installed!
A controller reset must be carried out for each initial commissioning (e.g. board replacement).
Holding the key combination 'both arrow keys + F1' for 3 sec. switches to the factory commissioning and executes a controller reset.
4.8.1. Extra board A7 for Terra Max with Navigator
An extra slave board A7 is built into Terra MAX ma-chines with Navigator and connected via CAN bus with the master board A1. A separate slave program is installed on the slave board.
The slave board is pre-confi gured in-factory for ma-chine application without cascade connection.
During initial commissioning (e.g. board exchange) or for integration of the Terra Max into a cascade network via CAN bus, the slave board must be confi gured. To confi gure the slave board, the operating component must be reconnected with the X25 plug on the slave board. The software is installed onto the slave board as described in chapter 2.
Just like with the standard software, the commission-ing assistant launches for an un-confi gured slave board.
While confi guring the slave board, the position of the machine in the cascade network must be set. If the machine is not connected in a cascade, the slave board will always be set to 'master'.
After completing the slave confi guration, the menu item 'confi guration complete' is set to 'yes'.
Next, the program restarts and switches to the main slave menu, where the 3 icon menus are displayed (time, information, and confi guration).
The operating device may now be reconnected to the main board A1.

5. Cascade control commissioning
5.1. Cascade control
The cascade control is possible for all heat pumps featuring Navigator control. The always cascade consists of a master control and 1-4 slave controls that are connected with each other via CAN bus. The cascade stages are addressed according to need for heating or cooling via the master control. Determination of need is executed by the master control only.
Parameter confi guration - cascade control
Par. No. Name Description
CA001 Cascade compo-nent
The parameter CA001 indicates the position the machine assumes in the cascade net-work.

5.1.1. Cascade conf igurat ion
Provided a cascade control is used, this needs to be set in the commissioning assistant during com-missioning. As soon as parameter CA000 has been set to 'yes', the menu item 'cascade system' may be selected in the settings.
A cascade may only be set if at least two heat pumps are connected via CAN bus!
A multi-stage machine (more than one compressor in a machine) does not qualify as a cascade system!
A hygienik may not be set on the slave machines! The process water preparation and the buffer manage-ment may only be controlled via the master machine and may also only be set via the master!
Only one hygienik sensor, one heat storage sensor, one cold storage sensor, and one external sensor are needed for cascade operation. These sensors are always connected to the master machine.

Cascade Control
5.2.1. Configurat ion of internal s lave board for Terra Max with cascade control
For cascade systems with Terra Max machines that feature an additional integrated internal slave board, the internal slave board must be parameterised according to the machine's function in the cascade network.
The 'Confi guration' menu item allows the position of the machine in the cascade network to be set.
E.g.:
The machine is the fi rst slave machine in the cascade network:
Cascade component setting: 'slave 1'
After completing the confi guration of the slave board, the parameter 'machine confi gured' must be set to 'yes'.
The setting of the parameter 'cascade component' must be the same for the main board confi guration and for the slave board's confi guration for the respective machine.
The slave board features its own software. The Standard Navigator Software is not suitable for the slave board!
The minimum running period for the compressor must be set to 2 min. on all cascade machines (master, slave 1, slave 2, etc.) in a cascade system!
5.2. Cascade set t ings
The system confi guration is always set on the master machine (hygienik, freshwater, cooling, etc.). These settings are not necessary on the slave machines; these settings do not have any effect on the slave machines, since the control function is executed via the master.

6. Commissioning solar control
A solar control may be implemented via the Navigator control. The extra expansion board is necessary for the solar control for the solar expansion. The solar expansion board is connected with the Navigator control via the CAN bus. (see hygienik solar assem-bly instructions)
Parameter confi guration - solar control
Par. No. Name Description
SC001 Solar diagram This indicates whether a solar system is controlled via the Navigator control. The parameter SC001 confi gures the function intended for the solar system.
Settings:
Hygienik - only used for process water preparation
Hygienik + buffer - used for process water preparation and heating
Hygienik + buffer + pool - for process water, heating, and pool heating (SSL).
Hygienik + buffer + brine - for process water, heating, and WQ supply (SSL)
6.1. Solar conf igurat ion at the technic ian level
The solar function is activated at the technician level.
As soon as a solar function has been set in the pa-rameters, the menu item solar control becomes vis-ible in the menu settings. The solar control menu item is used to make the most important solar settings.

Parameter confi guration - solar control
Par. No. Name Description
SC004 Collector min. temp. If the collector pre-run temperature < collector min. temperature, then the solar charge is cancelled / not authorised.
SC005 Collector max. temp. Indicates the max. collector temperature. If this is exceeded, the collector circulation pump shuts down.
If this is exceeded, then an error message is issued
SC008 Heat sources max. temperature
Indicates the max. temperature of the heat source during supply of the brine circuit heat pumps.
SC012 Heat sources - charge differential
Preset at the factory!
SC009 Hyst. buffer The collector temperature must be greater than the buffer temperature by the hysterese heating buffer so that a buffer charge is possible.
SC010 Hyst. hygienik The collector temperature must be greater than the current hygienik temperature by the hysterese hygienik so that a hygienik charge is possible.
SC120 Impulse solar The 'impulse solar' parameter is used to set how many impulses per litre are given off by the fl ow counter in the solar module. The number of impulses per litre may be read on the fl ow counter.
Setting standard IDM - fl ow counter 2.5 m: 2 impulse/litre
The set value must match the specifi cations in the fl ow counter! During commissioning, make sure to check this!
SC124 Min. solar charge pump speed
This parameter indicates the min. speed of the solar charge pump.
SC128 Min. speed collector pump
This parameter indicates the min. speed of the collector pump.
SC132 Min. speed heat source pump
This parameter indicates the min. speed of the heat source pump for supplying the heat source circulation of the heat pump.

6.2. Control funct ion solar control
These control functions are listed according to prior-ity for the solar controller. Solar functions with higher priority are listed according to rank.
Priority 1: SL defrost
The following conditions must be fulfi lled for an SL defrost:
- SL machine must be confi gured - 'Hyg. + heating + brine' must be set for the solar hydraulic - Solar operating mode 'auto' or 'WQ' must be set - The collector temperature must be suffi ciently high
Priority 2: hygienik management
The following conditions must be fulfi lled for hygienik management:
- A 'hygienik' must be parametrised in the confi guration - Solar operating mode 'auto' or 'hygienik' must be set - The collector temperature must be suffi ciently high - Hygienik temp. < hyg. max. temp. - 2K
Priority 3: heating buffer management
The following conditions must be fulfi lled for heating buffer management:
- 'Buffer' must be parametrised in the confi guration - Solar operating mode 'auto' or 'buffer' must be set - The collector temperature must be suffi ciently high - Buffer temp. < buffer max. temp. - 2K
Priority 4: heat source management
The following conditions must be fulfi lled for heat source charging:
- Heat source management is only possible for S and SL machines - Solar operating mode 'auto' or 'WQ + pool' must be set
- The collector temperature must be suffi ciently high
