Employment outlook after education completion

Public relations is proving to be one of the few bright spots in the current struggling U.S. jobs market. Data shows that those who majored in PR are making about $48,000 per year

Unemployment is at 6.1 percent, the lowest of the bunch.

The national unemployment rate in October was 9 percent, down from 9.1 percent. The economy also added 300,000 available jobs last month.

Employment outlook after education completion

While the job market for PR has in the last few years been on the sluggish side, the rest of the decade is quite promising for a PR career.

The latest issue of Fortune (March 21) features "Hot Careers for the Next 10 Years," listing the 20 Fastest-Growing Professional Jobs. (PR lands in the eighth slot.)

Does it requires to move to another place?

Employment of public relations specialists is expected to increase faster than average, while keen competition is expected for entry-level jobs.

It may not required to move out of space but may have travels frequently.

I think I’m willing to relocate for the job.

Additional things

Some public relations specialists work a standard 35- to 40-hour week. Occasionally they have to be at the job or on call around the clock, especially if there is an emergency or crisis.

Public relations are usually busy; work schedules can be irregular and frequently interrupted. Schedules often have to be rearranged to meet deadlines, deliver speeches, attend meetings and community activities, and travel out of town.
