WHEREAS by section 17 of the Courts of Session Act, 1921, it is provided inter alia that the Governor may by proclamation fix the times at which periodical sittings of Courts of Session shall be held: Now, therefore I, the Governor with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, do hereby fix Wednesday the 20th day of March, 1957; Wednes- day the 19th day of June 1957; Wednesday the 18th day of September, 1957, and Wednesday the 4th day of December, 1957, as the days on which the periodical sittings of the Court of Session for the Eastern Goldfields to be held at Kalgoorlie during the year 1957 shall commence. WHEREAS under section 2 of the Native WelfareAct, 1905-1954, "Native Institution" means andincludes any mission, reformatory, orphanage,school, home, station, reserve, or other institutionsfor the benefit, protection or care of the nativeinhabitants of the State declared by Proclamationto be a native institution for the purpose of thisAct: Now, therefore I, the said Governor, actingwith the advice and consent of the Executive Coun-cil, and in exercise of the power in that behalf con-ferred by section 2 of the Native Welfare Act, 1905-1954, do hereby declare the Mowanjum PresbyterianMission, Derby, to be an institution within themeaning of the said section.

The existing Proclamation of the Wotiulum Mis-sion, Derby district, as an institution within themeaning of the said section, as gazetted on the24th December, 1937, is hereby cancelled by virtueof the closing of the Wotjulum Mission and theopening of the Mowanjum Presbyterian Mission,Derby.

No burning shall be undertaken on days whenthe fire hazard forecast issued by the Perth WeatherBureau is "high," "severe" or "dangerous." Atleast three men shall be constantly in attendanceat every fire and until it has been completely ex-tinguished including all smouldering logs, timber,disused sleepers and other inflammable material.Each man shall be provided with a heavy fire rakeand each three men with at least one knapsackspray with sufficient water for its operation. Anyburning carried out under the provisions of thissuspension shall comply with section 18 and allother relevant provisions of the Bush Fires Act,1954.

IT is hereby notified, for general information, that the areas scheduled hereunder arc available for selection under Part V.of the Land Act, 1933-1954, and the regulations appertaining thereto, subject to the provisions 0f the said Act.

Applications must be lodged at the Department of Lands and Surveys, Perth, not later than the date specified, butmay be lodged before such date, if so desired.

All applications lodged on or before such date will be treated as having been received en the closing day, and if thereare more applicants than one for any block, the application to be granted wili be determined by the Land Board.
