CUSTOMS & CELEBRATIONS

In Italy, on New Year's Eve, families have a huge feast. They eat lentils and pork for good luck.     Carnival is celebrated 40 days before Easter. It is a huge celebration for  many countries, including Italy. There are giant parades and children throw confetti at each other. People are also known to play pranks on others.      During Easter in Italy, you probably won't see an Easter bunny, but you will see many interesting celebrations. For example, on Good Friday many towns have a solemn procession through the streets as they reenact Jesus' walk to death. Easter Sunday celebrates Jesus' resurrection.    On Christmas Eve, they don't eat meat except for fish. In fact, they eat 7 different kinds of fish. No one really knows what they represent but some people believe that they represent  the seven sacraments of the catholic church. Others believe that they represent the seven days it took God to create the world.
