We wanted to share this letter from Alpine High School with you. Below are
some pictures of us making the cards. This was an exceptional experience for us.
It is with a big heart and gratitude that our families here at Alpine ISD thank
you for this beautiful gesture. It was one of those heartwarming surprises when
I opened up your mail and found the beautiful and caring cards you and your
student's created for us. What happened at our campus has forever changed
many lives out here and it is because of the care we have received, and continue
to receive that we have been able to move forward and get stronger. Thank you
for your thoughts and prayers, and please know that you too will forever be in
our thoughts and prayers as well.
Sincerely and with tremendous amounts of gratitude,
Sandra Alvidrez and all of our Alpine High Staff

Bryn Mawr Parent Support Groups will resume in September.
Message from Dr. TaraColleen Macatee:
We are living summer! It’s so much fun to see all of
the Kaleidoscope events and activities in action. I
love to watch our individuals enjoying their lives
exactly as they should with freedom, independence,
comradery and fun. It was with purpose that we
named our July Vision Statement “Opportunity to
Form Supportive Relationships.” During the
summer months, we are able to encourage this
vision more than ever. It certainly shows in all of the
photos, videos and even testimonials of fun that we
receive on a daily basis. Of course, it’s not about fun
all of the time. Being an adult takes commitment
and empathy for others; we have to show
responsibility in our lives. For example, a few
months ago, one of our groups made cards for US
soldiers in Africa. Next, another group made cards
of support to send to the families of the Texas
school shooting. Both groups shared how moved
they were by our kindness; our responsibility to be
full members of a large community that reaches
beyond our small worlds. We are forming
relationships, among ourselves, our communities
and our worlds. And the best part, we are enjoying
the journey – making this summer count! I am
sending you an invitation to make your summer
count and would be honored to hear back from you.
Enjoy this beautiful time of year.
With warmth and sunny days,
Dr. TaraColleen Macatee

Janelle Eshleman, KFS Clinical Coordinator sent us this letter and photos.
The whole experience brought tears to our eyes while reminding us why we
do what we do. Enjoy! “Last evening, I had the privilege of being invited to attend Lydia’s dance recital.
She studies dance at Cavod Academy of the Arts in New Holland. Attached are
some of the pictures I took of Lydia dancing. Mom was concerned that not many
people would come out to support Lydia because it was on a Sunday evening,
but over 30 people came out to watch Lydia dance!! It was so amazing to see the
support Lydia has. There were people from all different areas of Lydia’s life.
One of the photos includes her friend Beth who also receives services with
Kaleidoscope. They know each other from work, but have also formed a
friendship (with help from KFS providers) to get together in the community and
at the local YMCA. Lydia was very excited that Beth came to support her. It was
such a wonderful evening and Lydia did such a magnificent job! Mom was so
grateful for the support and that so many people came out for Lydia.”
