ACCOUNTINGTrain for a new career in the high-demand accounting field. Choose one or more of the following:Accounting I—This introductory college accounting course covers the complete accounting cycle for a service business, including the critical rules of debit and credit and how to account for the asset cash. In addition, the course provides a study of the complete accounting cycle for a merchandising business as well as payroll accounting procedures and processes.

Accounting II— This intermediate-level course covers the first three of five major segments of accounting. The first is a study of different groups of balance sheet accounts, including notes, accounts receivable, merchandise inventory, and plant assets. The second is an in-depth coverage of accruals and deferrals of both revenue and expenses. The third segment of the course moves into different forms of ownership, specifically the partnership and the corporation. Prerequisite: Accounting I

High School Classes for Adults—If you never finished high school, you may have encountered problems finding employment or entering higher education. You can still graduate and begin to enjoy the satisfaction of completing your education. The credits you earned in high school can be used toward earning a diploma through Martinez Adult Education’s High School Program. Work at your own pace in a supportive and caring environment structured to meet the needs of adult learners. Credentialed teachers offer individualized student attention. Class scheduling is flexible, with both day and evening classes available. Enrollment is ongoing; new students may join us at any time. Cap and gown graduation ceremony in June. Martinez Adult Education is accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges.

Module II Peace Officer Training — This is the second of three modules of the Regular Basic Course Modular format for Peace Officer training and is a prerequisite to Module I. Course content is a minimum of 202 hours and meets the requirements for the student to function as a Level II Police Reserve Officer. Among the course contents are policing in the community, property crimes, crimes against person, general criminal statutes, laws of arrest, search and seizure, report writing, use of force, patrol techniques, vehicle pullovers, arrest and control, firearms and chemical agents, and cultural diversity and discrimination.

The program is approved by the Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST). Students must be at least 18 years of age and attend all classes. Prerequisites: Successful completion of Module III, current (within the last 3 years) in PC 832 Arrest and Firearms training requirements, passage of the POST Constructed Comprehensive Module III End-of-Course Proficiency Test within the preceding 12 months, and D.O.J clearance letter.
