    I Love Hope! Dont You?

Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out

in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us. Romans 5:5

I love the word hope. How can you not? Cage it any way youwant to, and it still identifies an optimism about the future. There isnothing depressing about hope. We embrace it to put fire in our faith. We cling to it to lighten our burdens. We lean on it to carry us through

our darkest nights.Hope is about living. It is vital to every aspect of our being. With-

out viable and realized hope, we are in a dark pit with no way out.Even that pit is hard to imagine. For, when we try to picture that pit, wetend to see beyond it. We want to believe that there is life beyond the

pit. That is what we call hope. There seem to be a lot of television commercials about depression.

They say, Depression hurts. Without question, they are right. Noone really likes depression. Regardless of the cause of depression, it isnot a pleasant state. Everyone wants an answer. Medicine may be a

benefit, but there is still something needed. Pills may elevate a mood or

relieve an imbalance while they last. Ultimately, there must be some-thing more.

We need hope. We need hope that is real. We need hope that issubstantial. We need hope that is constant. We need hope that doesnot disappoint. We need hope that translates into powerful living inthe midst of an imperfect world. When we face trials, illness, death, world struggles, loss of control, unusual blessings and hardships, or anyother challenging venue of life, need becomes obvious. We need hope.

We have it. It is available. God has set before us all the blessingsthat are packed into hope. It is hope that cannot disappoint. It is what itsets to be. It is found in Jesus and the promise of life in him. There is

no doubt or change. It is the optimism for now and forever. Russ
