As a travel retail merchandiser, I have dealt

with a number of different products, but

chocolate is the only one that always keeps

my enthusiasm focused. Chocolate delivers

not only a sweet worldly delight, but also a

health benefit if consumed in the appropriate

way. I want to spread the magic of chocolate

in new forms of life.

My passion for chocolate led me to open Korea’s first

chocolate collection store, The Cocoa Trees, at the

Incheon International Airport in January, 2013.

The yellow tree I had once drawn in my notebook as the

symbol of my business has become a reality, with M&M

creatures smiling from its branches.The Yellow Tree became a reality at The Cocoa Trees

While opening up The Cocoa Trees, I realized that none

of the 40+ chocolate brands offered was Asian.

Therefore, I conceptualized an Asian-style chocolate

and named it “Zen.” My Zen chocolate will remove

people’s worries about obesity with its unique concept,

namely, “chocolate that keeps you slim.”

The 2nd branch opened in September, 2013

The managerial skill-sets I will gain from MIT Sloan School of Management will help me

produce a new era in the chocolate market where charming Zen chocolate

mascots, instead of M&Ms, will welcome customers to the 100th store of The Cocoa Trees.
