I heard the voice of Jesus say, “Come unto me and rest lay down, O weary one, lay down your head upon my breast.”

I came to Jesus as I was, weary and worn and sad; I found in him a resting place, and he has made me glad.

I heard the voice of Jesus say, “Behold, I freely give the living water; thirsty one, stoop down, and drink, and live.”

I came to Jesus, and I drank of that life-giving stream; my thirst was quenched, my soul revived, and now I live in him.

I heard the voice of Jesus say, “I am this dark world’s light; look unto me, your morn shall rise, and all your day be bright.”

I looked to Jesus, and I found in him my star, my sun; and in that light of life I’ll walk till travelling days are done.

May we greet one another with open hearts and minds; inspire each other to consider new questions and seek deeper meaning; and cultivate both wisdom and compassion.

And may this time together empower us to take some new steps so all our living is transforming and the yearning of our hearts become reality.

This is a place, where the ordinary is sanctified, the human is celebrated, the compassionate is expected.

Together we make it a holy place with our every act of worship. Let us celebrate the richness and diversity of life.

What good is it, my brothers and sisters, if you say you have faith but do not have works? Can faith save you? If a brother or sister is naked and lacks daily food, and one of you says to them, “Go in peace; keep warm and eat your fill,”

and yet you do not supply their bodily needs, what is the good of that? So faith by itself, if it has no works, is dead. But someone will say, “You have faith and I have works.” Show me your faith apart from your works, and I by my works will show you my faith.

Returning from the region of Tyre, Jesus went by way of Sidon towards the Sea of Galilee, right through the Decapolis region. And they brought to Jesus a deaf man who had an impediment in his speech; and they asked Jesus to lay his hand on him.

Jesus took him aside in private, away from the crowd, put his fingers into the man's ears, and touched his tongue with spittle. Then looking up to heaven, Jesus sighed and said: 'Ephphatha', that is, 'Be opened'.

And the deaf one's ears were opened, and the ligament on his tongue was loosened, and he spoke clearly. And Jesus ordered them to tell no one about it, but the more he insisted, the more widely they published it.

Their admiration was unbounded, 'He has done all things well', they said, 'he makes the deaf to hear and the mute speak'.

I see a new heaven. I see a new earth as the old one will pass away, where the fountain of life flows and without price goes to all people who abide in the land.

There, there on the banks of a river bright and free, yielding her fruit, firm in her root, the Tree of Life will be.

By our smallest actions, we become part of your bigger world O God. The smallest giving can be an expression of the good spirit of generosity and caring. May we carry through the doorway of each new day this good spirit of generosity and caring. Amen.

The day will come, must come, and soon when we will sing a song of joy with sisters, brothers, not like us, who share the image of one God.

Whatever name, which ever faith, at heart we share a common bond, a shared humanity in God, whose name and character is love.

Deep peace of the running wave to you… Deep peace of the flowing air to you… Deep peace of the quiet earth to you… Deep peace of the shining stars to you… Deep peace of the Son of Peace to you. Amen. May it be so!

That love will drive us to the day when every wall is broken down, when love and joy and song are one: that day will come, must come, and soon.
