New Offertory EnvelopeCompany Our Sunday Visitor:
You will notice something different in this month’s packet of Sunday offering envelopes. After careful comparison, we have chosen a new offering envelope program with Our Sunday Visitor of Huntington, Indiana. This name may sound familiar as it
is a publisher of many Catholic periodicals, books, and pamphlets. We have been working with Our Sunday Visitor in creating our annual state of the parish reports for the past two years and been incredibly happy with their quality, service and support.
Our Sunday Visitor offers our office a better means of address corrections, new parishioner start-ups, and communication with our office computer programs. Your parishioner envelope number will remain the same and we will continue mailing the envelopes six times a year on a bimonthly schedule. All the ministry envelopes (Holy Name, Ladies Guild, Good Samaritan etc.) are still included in each packet though they will look different.
School Re-opening Planned forMonday, August 24th:
Mr. Andrew Richards, our principal, our administration, teachers, and staff are working overtime to ensure our school can safely reopen next month. A great deal of work is being done in order to thoroughly clean and sanitize the school building and new protocols and procedures similar to what we have in place in church are being implemented to keep every student and teacher safe. If you have a little one getting ready to start school or know someone who does, please consider St. Columbkille School. Please either visit our school website at https://www.stcolumbkilleschool.org/ or call the school at (216) 524-4816 to schedule an in-person visit.
Thank you for wearing masks in Church!
We appreciate your continued cooperation in practicing social distancing and wearing masks in church. Thoroughly washing your hands regularly and limiting your interaction with large crowds of people is helping to stop the spread.
Never forget, the Lord is with us, always!

REST IN PEACE
May all our deceased parishioners live forever in the joy of the Resurrection…
Edward Harbie, George Gavelek, Jean Miller
FATHER JAMIE’S HEALING HUMOR God called up Pope Francis. “I’ve got some good news and some bad news,” God said. “I’ve decided that there should be one church and one religion. No more confusion.” The Pope said, “That’s wonderful.” God said, “The bad news is, I’m calling from Salt Lake City.” (from a PRAIRIE HOME COMPANION PRETTY GOOD JOKE BOOK, 2000) Let us pray for our youth, teenagers and young adults, that they grow not like weeds, but like wheat which pro-duces abundantly.
GOOD SAMARITAN ITEMS NEEDED Our Good Samaritan Ministry needs certain basic items to fill our pantry. The needed items are: canned meats, canned fruit, jellies, jello, pudding, coffee, tea, toilet paper, paper towels, laundry detergent and dish detergent. We are also in need of cash donations to purchase food certificates for our needy families. Food deliveries can be made at the door at the rear of the Rectory between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and noon. As a parish, you have always been very generous in the past and we know we can count on your continued support! Please stay safe during this trying time and thank you for your support of our needy families!
WARM UP AMERICA Warm Up America meets on the third Monday of the month at 1:00 p.m. in the Rectory basement. Face masks must be worn and social distancing observed. However, there is no meeting in July. The next meeting will be on August 17th. Warm Up America is in dire need of yarn so they can continue their mission. Please help! For more information, please call Anna at (216) 524-2869.
EUCHARISTIC ADORATION CHAPEL “Do you want Our Lord to give you many graces? Visit Him often. Do you want Him to give you few graces? Visit Him seldom. Visits to the Blessed Sacrament are powerful and an indispensable means of overcoming the attacks of the devil. Make frequent visits to Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament and the devil will be powerless against you.” St. John Bosco The Eucharistic Adoration Chapel, located in the Parish Center, is open daily between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. You DO NOT need an appointment; you will, however, need a face mask and are asked to respect social distancing guidelines. Anyone interested in spending a specific hour each week with Jesus, please call Scott or Amanda at (216) 310-6831.
WEEKLY SCRIPTURE PASSAGE Let us pray together the verses from Paul's letter to the Romans. May we be comforted knowing that even if we do not know how to pray, the Holy Spirit will intercede for us. “Brothers and sisters: The Spirit comes to the aid of our weakness; for we do not know how to pray as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes with inexpressible groanings. And the one who searches hearts knows what is the intention of the Spirit, because he intercedes for the holy ones according to God’s will.”

PRAYER OPPORTUNITIES & FINANCIAL NEWS
FINANCIAL NEWS AND NOTES
•If you are unable to attend Mass, you can always drop off your weekly offertory envelope at the Parish Office or you can put it in another envelope and mail it.
•Please refrain from sending us one single check attached to multiple unmarked envelopes. The parish has no way of knowing how much money is being designated for each unmarked envelope therefore they must be returned. Please carefully mark your envelopes with the proper dollar amount so you can receive credit for your donation.
•Tuition assistance envelopes are processed separately from weekly offertory. Therefore, please write a separate check when contributing to tuition assistance. Catholic Charities envelopes are processed by the diocese so please write a separate check when contributing to Catholic Charities.
WEEKLY OFFERTORY
The offertory collection for the weekend of July 11th and 12th was $13,271. This includes the envelopes we received at the parish during the week and at the Masses. The first half of July Faith Direct contributions was $12,633.
Thank You for your continued generosity to our parish!
SPONSORS FOR BAPTISM and CONFIRMATION
A child who is to be baptized is to be given a Sponsor (Godparent) who, together with the parents, is to present the child for Baptism and help the child lead a Christian life in harmony with the Church and to fulfill faithfully the obligations connected with it. Only
one Sponsor is necessary. If there are two, one must be male and the other female. To be admitted to the role of Sponsor:a person must have completed his/her sixteenth year of age, be a baptized Catholic who is confirmed and has received the Sacrament of the Most Holy Eucharist, leads a life in harmony with the Catholic faith, be registered in a Parish, participate in Mass weekly, and receive the Sacraments regularly.
• If married, the marriage must be recognized as valid in the Catholic Church.
• You may have a person baptized in another Christian faith that follows the Catholic form for Baptism, act as a Christian Witness, along with a Catholic Sponsor.
• A person who was a Catholic and has joined another religion may not act as a Sponsor or a Christian Witness.
• A Catholic who is not practicing her/his faith may not act as a Sponsor.
• A sponsor cannot be the father or the mother of the one to be baptized.
A letter of recommendation must be obtained from the parish where the Sponsor is a registered member and submitted to our rectory office at least one week prior to the date of Baptism.
If you are having difficulty finding two Catholics who qualify as Godparents, only one Catholic Sponsor is actually needed. NOTE: The same requirements apply to Confirmation Sponsors.
ST. MARY MAGDALENE FEAST DAY JULY 22
O God, when others were ready to condemn Mary Magdalene, Jesus accepted her with all her imperfections. She in turn accepted Your Son as her Saviour. It was to Saint Mary Magdalene, before all others, that Jesus committed the message of Easter joy. Through her intercession, may we proclaim Christ as our living Lord and one day contemplate Him reigning in glory. Amen.
SPIRITUAL COMMUNION PRAYER

Are present in the Most Holy Sacrament.I love You above all things,

OUR LADY OF LOURDES SHRINEOwned and operated by the Sisters of the Most Holy
Trinity, 21281 Chardon Road, Euclid, Ohio 44117,Phone: (216) 481-8232
How is everyone doing considering the times in which we are living? What unrest and uncertainty surround us! So, what do we do? Perhaps the most overlooked remedy to help heal all of us both in body, mind and spirit is prayer. It does not seem like much, but sometimes the most insignificant act for good is the balm that soothes the most. During the month of July, we take three days out to remember the feast of St. Ann and St. Joachim July 24, 25 and 26. Taking a look at what they had to face: the waiting for the Messiah, political turmoil and unrest, an only child that would soon be called by God to what would seem to be a social disgrace only to be the greatest gift ever given. They give us an example in how to “wait” it out. They stayed in the Temple, praying to God, their faith never wavering. That is how they received their strength to get through it. None of their problems were taken away. They gave their problems over to God. Isn’t it always easier to face a tough world when we face it with someone who loves us?Let us try to do that. Let us try to give it all to God and follow His lead. Come and give it all to God. Attend three days of prayer to St. Ann and St. Joachim, Jesus’ grandparents, July 24, 25 and 26. Ask those saints to help us be loving family members. There will be 7:00 PM Rosary, followed by Mass. In August, we also remind you of the Novena for the Assumption from August 7th through August 15th. Are you serious about giving everything over to God? Then take advantage of our prayer opportunities. Join us! We are practicing social distancing both in the chapel and at the Grotto. We ask you to wear masks in respect for those around us and ourselves.
MALACHI CENTER’SANNUAL SUMMER CAMP
This six-week program, which began on June 29th, allows 30 children, entering first grade to eighth grade, to come to Malachi Center to learn and have fun in a safe environment. The camp’s literacy and skill-building programs help to ensure that each child returns to school in the Fall ready to succeed. This year’s camp may look a little different than it has in the past, but it will still be fun-filled. Campers will enjoy the themed weeks, enrichment activities, sports, arts and crafts, and field trips! We are adhering to Stay Safe Ohio gudelines for day camp using masks, frequent hand-washing and hand sanitizer, sanitizing surfaces, and practicing social distancing. To make the Malachi Center Summer Camp a success, we need your help, and hope you will consider sponsoring a camper:
$20.00 provides one day of camp for one child.$80.00 provides one week of camp for one child.
$480.00 provides six weeks of camp for one child. To learn more about how you can sponsor a camper, contact Deby Auerbach-Brown at (216) 771-3036 or at [email protected].
Summer Camp Physical Donations Needed:o Sanitizing wipes and cleaning supplies.o We’re looking for healthy snacks in large
quantities as well.o We need 36 containers to hold individual supplies
for children in Summer Camp. The activity boxes are what we are using so everyone has their own individualized supplies.
o Individual Supplies (small size so they’ll fit in the box):
• Bubbles, sidewalk chalk, Playdough, Fidget spinners, yoyos, watercolor pencils, etc.
o We also need water bottles for the children and jugs of water – we will be using both (one for field trips, one for here, since we don’t have access to our water fountain.)
o Yard games – Frisbees, Scoop ball sets, rubber horseshoe games, rubber bowling games, etc.)
The older children will be earning service hours in their new roll of Junior Counselor (JC). They will earn gift cards per number of hours they have service. We are collecting donations of Gift Cards – places that are close to Malachi Center, i.e., McDonald’s, Mitchell’s Ice Cream, Happy’s Pizza, Wendy’s, etc. Thank you! With your continued support of Malachi Center, we’re able to continue to provide life-changing services for children attending our annual Summer Camp.
