IntroductionI Ching AcuPresence is a branch of AcuPresence, a transformative

healing art based on the tradition of Classical Acupuncture and

the universal principle that everything is vibration.

This eLearning I Ching AcuPresence® Course is one in a

series offered by I Ching AcuPresence. It teaches the

founding principles, and basic instructions for

incorporating I Ching AcuPresence into your personal life

and professional healing practice. It is designed to be

used in companionship with the AcuPresence® Foundations

Course or with the book AcuPresence®, A Vibrational Healing

Art.

I Ching AcuPresence is an invitation to awaken and align with

your divine blueprint. It goes beyond the mind and directly to

the innate intelligence of the body’s energy system, inviting

you to come back into resonance with your pure original

nature.

The ancient oracle of the I Ching charts the seasons, elements,

and cycles of life; it maps out this information in hexagrams.

The binary code of the makeup of these hexagrams is

essentially identical to the genetic code of life reflected in our

DNA that’s mapped into our body at the moment of birth.

This hexagram map of the five elements encoded within our

body is accessible via the meridian system and acupuncture

points. This training empowers you to practice the alchemy of

using acupuncture in conjunction with the esoteric sciences of

the I Ching, Gene Keys, and Human Design.

Overview As a Classical Five Element Acupuncturist I have a deep passion

for what’s known as the “Spirit of the Point,” the pure essence

of an acupuncture point, which is released into the body when

it’s activated.

Many years ago, I became interested in working with the

Spirit of the Points in relationship to an esoteric science I was

studying called Human Design. This system generates detailed

information calculated by the exact time and place of an

individual’s birth and is directly related to the Ancient Oracle of

the I Ching.

My experimentation developed further when I was introduced

to the Gene Keys, a related science that explores the DNA of

a person’s uniqueness. I became even more intrigued, dove

deeply into the practice, and started picking out points related

to the I Ching hexagrams most prominent in my patients’ Gene

Keys constitutional makeup.

In the course of hundreds of hours of playing with how points

aligned with hexagrams, I discovered a geometric formula

for how points matched up with hexagrams based on their

elemental components. This gave birth to I Ching AcuPresence®.

I Ching AcuPresence®According to ancient texts, around 3000 B.C. the legendary

Chinese sage Fu Xi discovered the flow between heaven and

earth and the relationship between Yin and Yang. The texts

go on to say that Fu Xi “developed the 8 trigrams and the 9

needles.” Fu Xi is also credited with writing the I Ching, the Book

of Changes that represents the qualities, events, and forces of

the cosmos. This sacred divination system helps people make

clear decisions in harmony with nature, and uses the principles

of Yin and Yang.

Both Classical Acupuncture and the I Ching are based on the

cycles of nature and the laws of the cosmos such as night and

day, stillness and movement, positive and negative, receptivity

and activity, as well as the five elements: wood, fire, earth, metal

and water.

These elements appear in the I Ching’s 64 hexagrams, which

are archetypal symbols of human experience, relationship,

and destiny. Each hexagram represents a combination of two

elements, one in each of the two trigrams that make up the

hexagram. These trigrams are directly related to the body’s

acupuncture meridians.

It seems that the binary mathematical code of the makeup of

these trigrams is essentially identical to the genetic code of life

reflected in our DNA that’s mapped into our body at the moment

of birth. This hexagram map of the five elements encoded

within our body is easily accessible via the energy meridian

system and acupuncture points, which I refer to as sacred

sites in the body. These sacred sites hold unique vibrational

signatures that correspond directly with the archetypes of the

I Ching Hexagrams. When we activate them, we call them into

sympathetic resonance with each other, affecting the vibrational

makeup of our DNA.

Gene Keys Some of the major inspiration behind the inception of

AcuPresence comes from the mystical sciences of the Gene Keys

and Human Design, and the discovery of how the geometry of

the hexagrams, the acupoints, and the DNA codes match up.

The Gene Keys, a brilliant body of work developed by Richard

Rudd, is a universal inner language whose central purpose is

to awaken you to your genius and highest purpose in life. This

code exists embedded within your physical DNA.

Page 5: I Ching AcuPresence Course

5 | I Ching Training | AcuPresence.com

The Gene Keys consist of 64 universal archetypes that underpin

the very fabric of our universe. They form the holographic

matrix of space-time itself. As such, the Gene Keys represent

the transmission of a living wisdom that is hidden everywhere

within the universe. I Ching AcuPresence is a great complement

to this transformational work, which is delivered in the best-

selling book, The Gene Keys, Unlocking The Higher Purpose

Hidden In Your DNA by Richard Rudd.

Golden Path The Golden Path Profile, developed through The Gene Keys,

outlines a journey of awakening based on your moment of birth.

You can explore the genetic code of your DNA, and contemplate

each I Ching hexagram in your unique makeup by embracing its

shadow, releasing its gift, and embodying its siddhi’s or highest

potential.

The Golden Path uses a combination of I-Ching lines and

Gene Keys to create a ‘Hologenetic Profile.’ This profile leads

you through consecutive insights about your life purpose,

relationships, and prosperity. As you apply the insights from

the Gene Keys and your Golden Path Profile to your life, you

can literally reprogram your DNA with a new higher vision of

yourself. Links to receive your free Golden Path Profile can be

found at AcuPresence.com.

Human Design Another way to utilize the transformative tool of I Ching

AcuPresence is in conjunction with the Human Design System

developed by Ra Uru Hu. Human Design is a synthesis of

several ancient systems, integrating aspects of the I Ching,

Astrology, Chakras, and the Kabbalah. It represents a map of

human consciousness that links these old wisdom traditions

to contemporary thought, particularly to our modern

understanding of genetics.

This esoteric science, brought forth in 1987, links the 64 I Ching

hexagrams with the astrological zodiac. Overlaying, the 64 I

Ching Hexagrams on the astrological zodiac allows us to know

which I Ching Hexagrams are directly related to our DNA at the

moment of our birth.

A design chart (BodyGraph) is drawn up from your birth data,

I Ching AcuPresence Acupoints Each I Ching hexagram is comprised of two trigrams, each

representing one of the five elements: wood, fire, earth, metal

and water. The AcuPresence points are constitutional to each

hexagram, meaning that they address the relationship of the

two elements that constitute the hexagram.

There are six acupuncture points that are directly linked to each

hexagram. These six associated acupoints address your well

being on all levels, from strengthening your connection to spirit

to harmonizing your physiology and DNA.

There are several methodologies and formulas used in the

specific selection of Acupoints constitutionally related to the I

Ching hexagrams.

For example, if the hexagram is comprised of an earth trigram

and a water trigram, then each constitutional acupoint will

be either an earth or a water acupoint, depending on the

hexagram’s makeup.

Each of the 12 principal meridians is associated with an element

and also contains points related to each of the five elements.

For example, on a fire meridian, there is a fire, wood, earth,

metal and water point.

Further, each trigram is either yin or yang in nature. This

determines whether a yin or yang meridian is chosen.

Here is an example: hexagram 28 is metal over wood.

The top trigram is metal and the

bottom trigram is wood. In this

situation, the source point is the

wood point on the metal meridian.

Because the upper trigram in

hexagram 28 is yin in nature, the yin

organ, the lung, is indicated. Since

the bottom trigram is wood, the

wood point on the lung meridian is

chosen, which is lung 11.

I Ching Acupoint Categories Each of the following Acupoint categories supports a specific

aspect of your human makeup. There is a set of 6 acupoints for

each I Ching hexagram.

Following are the 6 acupoint categories.

Source Acupoint

This is the point on a given meridian that will affect it the

most. It holds the highest concentration of Qi available for the

hexagram. If you were to attune to only one point, you would

most likely choose this one.

All Source Points are located on the lower part of the body’s

limbs, the arms and legs. In Five Element Acupuncture, they are

called Command Points because, when activated, they serve as

a command, summoning maximum revitalization to the energy

meridian.

Core Acupoint

When the core is strong, everything else is well supported. The

Core Points ground and root you comfortably in the physical

body. They provide a profound connection to your deep core,

and alignment with your inner purpose.

These points are located on the core or torso of the body. They

bring a sense of grounded strength and harmonious equilibrium.

Spirit Acupoint

These are the most powerful, effective points for revitalizing

and strengthening your spirit. When the connection to spirit is

vibrant, all else follows. The foundation of connection to your

spirit is of paramount importance to your well-being.

Located on the Kidney meridian, Spirit Points are associated

with the water element. They are positioned on the upper chest,

over the heart, which is associated with the element of fire.

Consequently, these points intimately and alchemically address

the relationship between water and fire, considered the first two

elements of creation, or yin and yang.

Spirit Points call up the deepest reserves of nourishing spiritual

Qi and serve to maintain balance and harmony between yin and

yang.

Vesica Acupoint

The Vesica Point balances the yin and yang of two opposite

hexagrams. This is the Source Point for a hexagram’s Programming

Partner, the hexagram that is its mirrored opposite. One is more

yang, the other more yin. The two polarities yearn to be unified,

and this union forms the sacred geometrical Mother of Life

symbol, the Vesica Piscis.

All opposites are irrevocably linked. When they come together,

a pure harmonic is created that erases their difference, inviting

them to rise to a higher frequency than they had access to

individually. Now they can feel their true wholeness.

Window of Heaven Acupoint

Presencing a Window of Heaven Point is like opening a window

or skylight in a dark, closed room to let in light and fresh air.

Suddenly you see the beauty of the world, realize the

magnificence of your own life, and can feel your universal

connection to the Tao. Your inner vision clears and opens.

Ancient Chinese medicine identified the heart, not the brain,

as the official in charge of our intelligence. Window of Heaven

points harmonize the relationship between the heart and mind,

balancing the heart’s intuitive nature with the mind’s linear

rationality.

Best used in conjunction with the constitutional Source Point,

Window of Heaven points are to be activated only on a person

who is already strong, balanced, and ready for new vision. Most

of these points are located on the neck.

Physiology Acupoint

Every hexagram is connected to an organ, nerve cluster,

structure, or function in the body. The Physiology Point directly

influences how this body part, system, or anatomical process

functions. This point invites the conscious and unconscious

physical aspects associated with the DNA of this hexagram to

harmonize.

Invocations An AcuPresence Session is deepened by using an Invocation.

There is an Invocation for each acupoint.

An Invocation is a statement that invokes the quintessence of

the highest frequency of an acupoint. When spoken, it releases

this higher note or song into our body and consciousness and

invites us into resonance with it.

An Invocation is an intention, a prayer, that goes beyond the

mind and directly accesses the essence of an acupoint, infusing

its coherent vibration into the body, inviting any compromised

frequency to soften, relax, and return to its original, vibrant, free

state.

They are used during a session and given to clients to use on

their own to deepen and expand their AcuPresence session. We

can memorize an invocation, keep it with us, or post it in a place

where we will see it often. To deeply receive the transformative

medicine of the point, they can be repeated while touching the

acupoints again throughout the day or week. This awakens the

frequency of the acupoint in our consciousness and body.

There are two ways to use Invocations when we’re working with

more than one acupoint at a time. The first is to write out the

Invocation for each acupoint.

Page 9: I Ching AcuPresence Course

9 | I Ching Training | AcuPresence.com

An Example Set of Invocations

At Amidst Elegance (KI.26), I respect the beauty and grace

within me, and behold the rich splendor of my life.

In the Sea of Qi (CV.6), I bathe in a vast reservoir of abundant Qi

and am re-energized with a surge of vitality.

At Leg Three Miles (ST.36), I am grounded, stable, and

empowered with the stillness and stamina to fulfill my life’s

purpose.

In the Palace of Weariness (HP.8), I am revived and nourished

in every cell of my body, and my heart sings with love and joy.

Storyline Invocation

The second way to use invocations is to write a Storyline

Invocation.

A Storyline Invocation is created by selecting a few words or a

phrase from each Invocation and weaving them together in a

pleasing way that resonates and speaks to us.

The Storyline Invocation serves as a powerful, inspiring

statement that combines the quintessence of the acupoints. We

can memorize and repeat it to our self like a mantra, reaffirming

our healing story throughout the day.

An Example Storyline Invocation

I am re-energized with a surge of vitality (CV.6) as I behold the

rich splendor of my life (KI.26) and am empowered to fulfill my

life’s purpose (ST.36) as my heart sings with love and joy (HP.8).

Using an invocation is an opportunity to touch the sacred

sites on our body. By touching them, we learn where they are,

develop a relationship with their divine nature, and receive their

blessing.

Acupoint Synopsis Page In order to attune with an acupoint, we need to know where

it is located, what its unique frequency is, and the essence of

what its medicinal virtues are. This information is found on the

Acupoint Synopsis Page.

Over 100 acupoints have been carefully selected for their

applicability to AcuPresence. An Acupoint Synopsis Page has

been created for each acupoint.

Acupoint Name

First you see the name and abbreviation of the meridian and

the number indicating the acupoints location. Below that is the

traditional English name of the acupoint.

Invocation

An invocation is a statement that invokes the highest frequency

of the acupoint. When spoken, it continually releases this higher

note or song into our body and consciousness in order to come

into resonance with it.

Essence of the Acupoint

The Essence or Spirit of the acupoint is the heart of what

AcuPresence is all about. It’s the core foundation, the magic.

This unique vibrational signature, the spiritual essence of the

acupoint, is encoded within the original pictographic Chinese

character telling the story of the Acupoint. Often the name of

the point reflects a spiritual quality or function. These meanings

are not always found in the typical modern TCM systems of

acupuncture, however in Classical Five Element Acupuncture

they are considered vital in understanding the functional healing

role of the acupoint.

The most important part of the AcuPresence Session is to read

and fully contemplate the Essence of the Point. This is where

our relationship with the sacred sites begins.

Acupoint Location

Anatomical drawings as well as written instructions for locating

the acupoint are given.

Medicinal Virtues

Some of the key benefits of the acupoint are summarized.

“Harmonizes” lists some of the conditions or imbalances that

the point addresses.

I Ching Hexagram(s)

This is a list of the I Ching Hexagrams that are constitutionally

associated with the acupoint.

Following is one example of an Acupoint Synopsis Page, which

contains all the information we need about an acupoint in order

to do an AcuPresence Attunement Session.

Additional information and instructions on how to locate

acupuncture points and a summary of the various methods

and tools to use in AcuPresence sessions can be found in the

eLearning AcuPresence Foundations Course or in AcuPresence®,

I Ching AcuPresence Protocols There are 64 hexagrams in the I Ching. There is a corresponding

I Ching AcuPresence Protocol for each one. These 64 protocols

are available in additional eLearning Courses, and as individual

and/or summary eBook publications on AcuPresence.com.

In order to facilitate I Ching AcuPresence sessions you will need

the information provided in these training handbooks. You will

find a sample Handbook for Hexagram 22 in Appendix A in this

training manual.

I Ching AcuPresence Sessions There are two methods for facilitating I Ching AcuPresence

Sessions. One is done in collaboration between a therapist

and client. The other practice is a personal self-healing session

facilitated on one’s self. Following are the basic guidelines for

both methods.

Therapeutic I Ching AcuPresence Sessions with a Client

I Ching AcuPresence is a collaborative experience between

the therapist and the client. As the therapist you are not just

‘doing’ something to your client. You are working together in

collaboration on your client’s healing journey.

One of the main objectives is to empower your client to continue

to work with the practice and to have the knowledge to do that.

You are, in part, educating and encouraging them to continue

deepening their relationship with the acupoints and the healing

art of AcuPresence.

One of the roles of the therapist in facilitating a session is to

introduce your client to the six acupuncture points associated

with the hexagram by reviewing their functions and purposes.

The deeper levels of transformation initiated during a session

will continue to occur in the days or months to follow as they

deepen their relationship with their personal set of acupoints

through presence and attunement.

You can learn more about the foundations of AcuPresence® by

either reading AcuPresence®, A Vibrational Healing Art or by

taking a live or eLearning AcuPresence® Foundations Course.

To find these and additional resources visit AcuPresence.com.

Activating Acupuncture Points

When giving an AcuPresence session, one or more ways of

activating the points may be chosen.

Activating a point, using a needle or another tool of choice,

is a conscious act of Presencing or attuning to the essence of

the acupoint. Activating an acupuncture point is like striking a

tuning fork of a high resonance and allowing the stuck Qi to

come back home into its highest resonance. Your Presence is

the most effective tool.

Page 13: I Ching AcuPresence Course

13 | I Ching Training | AcuPresence.com

Licensed acupuncturists may choose to activate the point by

using the Five Element Tonification technique, or by simply

placing the tip of the needle to the skin to activate the qi. In

addition or in lieu of a needle, you can use an Om tuning fork,

acupoint activator, moxa stick or other method(s) of activating

the point. It is suggested to end by adhering an attunement

seed on the point where it’s appropriate (ie: not Meeting of Yin,

Conception Vessel 1 or Hundred Meetings, Governor Vessel 20).

The attunement seed serves as a reminder, inviting them to

return to the sacred site again later.

Acupoints are activated one at a time. All six points are

commonly located and activated in the first session. However,

you may intuitively choose to only work with a selected few. The

following order is recommended in activating and attuning to

the acupoints. *

1. Spirit Point

2. Core Point

3. Physiology Point

4. Window of Heaven Point

5. Vesica Point

6. Source Point

* If there is an acupoint located on the back torso you may

choose to activate it first, ie Gate of Life | Governor Vessel 4 or

Wind Pond | Gall Bladder 20.

A summary of the various methods and tools used in AcuPresence

sessions, and instructions on how to locate acupuncture points

can be found in the eLearning AcuPresence® Foundations

Course or in AcuPresence®, A Vibrational Healing Art by Alaya

DeNoyelles.

Session Planning

Prior to the appointment you will determine which I Ching

Hexagram you will be working with in the session. The client

may know which hexagram they’d like to work with, or you can

choose one for them.

If you are choosing a Hexagram based on the moment of birth,

you will need to run a Gene Key Golden Path Profile prior to the

AcuPresence session. This can be done using the links mentioned

previously, available at AcuPresence.com. It is recommended

that you begin with the hexagram related to the Sun’s position

at the moment of birth or the one associated with the client’s

vocation, also referred to as the core wound revealed on the

Gene Key Golden Path Profile.

In order to facilitate a session you will need the Acupoint Synopsis

Pages associated with the Hexagram you’ll be addressing in the

session. These can be obtained from three different resources

available at AcuPresence.com.

1. The Individual AcuPresence I Ching Hexagram Handbooks

2. AcuPresence I Ching Summary Handbook.

3. I Ching AcuPresence eLearning courses on the 64 hexagrams

Page 14: I Ching AcuPresence Course

Session Preparation and Guidelines

The following is a basic guideline. Once familiar with this

practice, you’re encouraged to follow your own guidance in

your treatment planning.

1. Begin by giving your client a brief overview of the treatment process. You may choose to review the Hexagram Handbook and Acupoint Synopsis Pages with them.

2. Invite your client to lie down and relax on the massage table.

3. Place in front of you the Acupoint Synopsis Pages for each acupoint and the tools you’ll use during this attunement session.

4. Locate and mark all acupoints for easy reference during session (on both sides of the body when applicable). With the exception of the Conception and Governor Vessels, all meridians run bilaterally.

5. Begin the session by gently touching the first acupoint and reading the Essence of the acupoint and its Invocation provided on the Acupoint Synopsis Page.

6. Activate acupoint with method(s) of choice; end by adhering an attunement seed.

7. After you’ve activated the point and adhered the attunement seed, gently touch the point and repeat the Invocation again to help the client internalize it. Invite your client to feel its energy opening in the meridian and spreading throughout their body as it brings any denser frequencies, blocked Qi back into

its harmonious vibrant state.

8. Repeat steps 5-7 with each point.

9. End session with 5-15 minutes of energy work. (suggestion)

Session Closing

Give the session’s Invocations to your client. Assist or encourage

them to write a Storyline Invocation. Invite your client to attune

again on their own by revisiting the acupoints, touching them,

and repeating the Invocations or their Storyline Invocation to

deeply receive the transformative medicine of the point(s).

You are inviting them to create relationships with the points,

their function and purpose, so they know which sacred site to

go to on their body to receive specific support.

You may also choose to provide your client with a copy of

the Hexagrams Individual Handbook or Hexagram overview

pages from the Hexagram Summary Handbook (available at

AcuPresence.com.) or they can obtain their own hexagram

handbooks at AcuPresence.com.

Personal Self-Healing I Ching AcuPresence Session

1. Create your own personal Attunement Session by following the guidelines below.

2. Presence yourself by getting comfortable, taking some deep breaths, and perhaps placing a hand on

Page 15: I Ching AcuPresence Course

your heart or belly. Allow the mind and body to relax.

3. Read the Keynotes and Acupoint Synopsis Page for each of the acupoints for the hexagram. Familiarize yourself with all of the acupoints and contemplate the Essence, Medicinal Virtues and Category of each point.

4. Choose one or more points with which you resonate the most. It is common to pick 3-6 points.

5. Using the diagram on the synopsis page, locate the acupoints on your body. Mark each of the acupoints on both sides of your body with a pen for easy location. There is only one acupoint location on the Conception Vessel (front midline of the body) and the Governor Vessel (back midline of the body). Some acupoints, especially on the torso, are easiest to find by looking in a mirror.

6. Write down or review the Invocation for each acupoint you have chosen.

7. Pick a key word or phrase from each Invocation and weave them together to create your Storyline Invocation. Keep this with you, memorize it, or post it where you can easily read and contemplate it.Attune and repeat storyline throughout the day.

8. Place an Attunement Seed or tool of your choice on the acupoint. Placing the tool is a conscious act of presencing and attuning to the essence of the acupoint. It’s like striking a tuning fork of a high resonance and allowing your stuck qi to come back into its own highest resonance. The seed can remain on as long as you like. It then serves as a reminder, inviting you to return to the sacred site again later.

9. Attune to each selected acupoint. Contemplate its archetypal energy, imagine it, envision it, and feel it in your body. Rest your attention on the acupoint. You are not making anything happen, not imposing an agenda or applying effort. You are simply bringing your contemplative, receptive presence to the given acupoint and being with it. As you breathe deeply, allow yourself to fall into the embrace of the point’s nurturing energy. Feel the pure life essence vibrating there, rippling out into the energy meridian, and spreading throughout your body.

10. Attune again throughout the day by revisiting the acupoints, touching them, feeling their essence, and repeating your Storyline Invocation to deeply receive the transformative medicine of the acupoints.
