Shalom,

My name is Ayala Lilli Moses from Go Get & Tell-Education and I'd

like to welcome you to my website, which is a Hebrew language

school that's been in existence for about five years.

Prior to that, I felt just like you – I was inclined to think that the

Internet was not suited to teaching. For more than 16 years I had

only taught in regular classrooms that employed conventional

methods, where the students sat across from me and there was

a blackboard behind me. My students would make a special trip to

Israel and had to take time off from work in order to learn Hebrew.

In those days, students had to invest a lot of valuable time and

money.

Because I love my work, I decided to try and give the Internet

a chance, hoping to acquire faith in this virtual method of teaching.

I have to admit that I also had concerns that the average student

would find it difficult to learn this way.

But a whole world of possibilities has opened up to me since

I began teaching over the Internet. I can now offer students

a countless number of study options.

It's amazing!! The world is moving forward, the methods are

effective, and my students are benefiting from all this.

I'm learning new techniques every day and, in truth, I really enjoy

the wonders of the technology and am glad to discover new

teaching approaches.

Nowadays, my students can meet me in any way that's convenient

for them: some make due with a weekly lesson, others study more

frequently, and some buy CDs and books and advance quickly.

Many take part in annual group workshops where they're offered

a variety of courses that make use of cutting-edge methods.

Once a year we convene here in Israel: we study, take trips, see

plays and attend diverse cultural events together, and meet with

authors and other creators and intellectuals.

I'm glad that you've entered the realm of my virtual campus.

You're about to discover a simple, effective and enjoyable way to

study Hebrew via your PC or laptop.

With little to no effort you'll be able to increase your vocabulary

and remember the words, rather than forget them. You'll feel

that you're highly motivated to succeed and improve your

achievements, and you'll be able to communicate in Hebrew with

everyone you like!!!

Yours,

Ayala

The Problem

My teacher is nice; the hour passes quickly,

but at home…

I have so much to remember…

Studying at home and going over the new material tire me out…

And what about everything I’ve learned up till now…?

Using the GG&T-Education Method

There’s hope:

The way the learning is organized

is simple and clear

You’re happy and relaxed

You save time during the day

You’ve shortened the process of

acquiring the new language

Meet my students

I’ve been studying Hebrew for many years…

I noticed that I learn words but don’t remember

anything…

Using your method, I’ve enjoyed leafing through the

notebook and remembering what I learned… Annette, 2011

Hello Ayala.

I lost my notebook. What should I do?

What luck that I have friends in the class…

We immediately went over what we had learned…

Now I keep my notebook in a safe…

Farid, 2010

Hello, a little is a lot…

I learn a little… every day…

you know that I learn only 5 words every day, and

remember each word because with your help I’ve

learned to use the word properly…

John, 2011

Stage 1: The Dictionary

From now on, your dictionary is a textbook…

and a reading exercises workbook

As you well know, I teach Hebrew as a second language and have more than

20 years of experience in the field. During this time I have met many students

in a variety of learning settings. In recent years, I've taught more than 400

students over a period of four years. My teaching methods are based on

experience. I'm constantly on the look out for work methods that can suit

different types of students. It's important for me to know what can help

students attain high achievements. There's something new to learn in every

class, and I'm aware of changes that the students are undergoing as well as

changes taking place in the learning environment. Some excellent electronic

dictionaries were recently published, which the average student can use for

translation purposes. The Internet's accessibility shortens the search time,

and the required translation can be found immediately without an exhausting

search for the word in a regular dictionary. So, who still buys printed

dictionaries?

Well, I have some news for you. In this chapter I want to tell you about a

technique that can be employed when using a printed dictionary – a

technique that I learned from a young student who was in a beginners' class. I

noticed that the smiling student who sat in the front row used to bring a

Hebrew-English dictionary to class. She didn't talk much during the lessons,

but whenever I asked her a question relating to the subject matter, her

answers testified to the fact that she knew exactly what was going on.

Because she sat close to me, I could see that she would highlight every new

word we learned using a yellow marker. I would watch how she worked, and

discovered that she would also test herself on occasion. In other words, she

would open the dictionary and check that in fact she had been conscientious

and entered all the words.

To my surprise, at the end of the course she approached me with the

dictionary and proudly said: "Teacher Ayala, I want to show you that we

learned a lot of words. You can see for yourself!!" I leafed through the

dictionary and it looked more like a workbook than a dictionary that often

remains unused on the shelf. In addition to the yellow marker highlighting,

there were also notes and additions she had made when needed.

I looked at the dictionary and gazed into the student's happy eyes…and

that's when it dawned on me. I had learned from my student a way to

quantify the words as well as a method for checking and reviewing what had

been learned in the classroom. I have since then applied that method among

all my students. Each time anew, I find that it is simple and effective.

Here it is for you:

Open the dictionary…using a yellow marker

Highlight the new word you want to learn, like this:

To send; to dispatch; to reach out – שלח

Starting now, your task will be very easy; you have to persist and not give up.

You'll soon be glad to open the dictionary,

and on every page you'll see the new-old words –

they are "your" words forever…
