Message from Father Pergjini: Since the second century the four gospels have been interpreted in four forms or as is generally called in Greek tetramorph. The face of a man is for the gospel of Saint Mathew because he starts his Gospel with human genealogy of Christ. The lion represents the gospel of Saint Mark because his gospel begins in the desert. The bull represents Saint Luke whose Gospel begins with Zachariah's sacrifice in the Temple. And the eagle represents Saint John because his prologue reaches breathtaking heights. The fathers of the church have interpreted the four living creatures the perfect allegory of the mystery of Christ. The figure of Man stands very well for the incarnation, Messiah, Christ our Savior. The lion represents the temptations of Christ in the desert, Christ the King of the universe triumphant against the Satan. The bull leads us to see the immolation of Christ in the cross. And finally, the eagle points toward Christ resurrection and his ascension into heaven. This Sunday November 25th is the last Sunday of ordinary time, the last Sunday of the liturgical year. Our Church ends its liturgical year with the solemnity of Christ the King of the Universe. On December 11, 1925 Pope Pius XI issued his encyclical letter Quas primas. This document meant to remind the faithful that the most powerful weapon against the destructive forces of the age is to

acknowledge the kingship of Christ. He said, “The church documents are read only by few learned men and women while the celebrations of the feasts during the liturgical year moves and teach all the faithful, every year and forever. A document brings saving touch and joy to the human intellect, but the celebration of the liturgical feasts influence not only the mind but the heart and soul and the whole nature of men and women.” Yes indeed, the celebration of the solemnity of the Christ the King of the universe touches our lives and the life of the universe. The solemnity of Christ the King of the Universe reminds to all of us our goal and our glory is to follow Christ the King, to trust and abandon ourselves into the hands of Christ who saves our broken souls. The

famous and well-known words from the letter to the Hebrews 13:8: “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.” The Gospel of Saint John on this solemnity of Christ the King starts with a question to Pontius Pilate: “Are you the King of the Jews?” And Christ answers that question that his kingdom does not belong to this world, he came to testify to the truth and everyone who testify to the Truth listen to my voice. Yes indeed, we are people who unite our voices praising and glorifying the Almighty Father every single Sunday in the most powerful sacrifice on earth, the Holy Mass, by proclaiming Christ the King of the Universe and willing to listen to His voice, to His Eternal Truth. For all of us who believe in the power of Christ who is the same voice yesterday, today and forever speaking His Divine and eternal truth. The beautiful preface of the Mass reminds all of us Christ our King who at the end of time will present to His Father the Eternal and universal kingdom of truth and life, a kingdom of holiness and grace, a kingdom of justice, love and peace. The four living creatures that the four evangelists provide for us powerfully proclaim Christ, the King of the universe in power and majesty in Eternal Kingdom. We beg Christ's Mercy place our hope and our destiny before Christ the King of the Universe. May we take refuge in the words of the final prayer after Holy Communion of the Holy Mass of Christ the King of the Universe: Having received the food of immortality we ask, O Lord, that, glorifying in obedience to the commands of Christ, the King of the universe, we may live with him eternally in his heavenly Kingdom. Who lives and reigns forever and ever. Amen!
