(Carlos Romulo) We Filipinos have rich background of history wherein our culture was based on it. Time is fast paced and we can control it by moving within its rhythm. We, you and I are Filipinos; we inherited freedom from our ancestors who fought for it. We should not just let it go and we should learn from it. We should not let other culture invade us like; we should not let other people dictate from what we are and what we wanted to be. Just like the essay I am Filipino, we have our own identity. We should learn from our history or from our past, and with that we can avoid to commit mistake. To correct the wrong things that happened before. Our decisions right now, will not just correct our future but also of future generations. Maybe, one thing that was fully related to it was learning from the past to keep a better future, this may be a cliché but we should not doubt its fact. Other than that, there is also the thing preservation. We already have the freedom; we should not do things that may result in losing it. In reality, we have a beautiful life, we may have flaws and struggles yet there is still the beauty hidden in every defect. We should learn from our past failures, that is why there is what we call future to correct it. We are Filipino, we are tough and we have our own identity. I am Filipino

"I am a Filipino born of freedom and I shall not rest until freedom shall have been added unto my inheritance - for myself and my children's children - forever. (Carlos Romulo)

We Filipinos have rich background of history wherein our culture was based on it. Time is fast paced and we can control it by moving within its rhythm. We, you and I are Filipinos; we inherited freedom from our ancestors who fought for it. We should not just let it go and we should learn from it.

In modern time, there is what we call the “modern invasion”; it is the current version of colonialism where we based almost everything from first world countries. Carlos Romulo emphasized in his essay the essence of history and how we can fight for it by preserving the freedom that may benefit not just us, but also the next generations. In life, our decision is the leverage whether we commit the same mistake or we start anew independently.

I do believe that in every story, essay, or even poem there is a message to be given to the readers, a lesson to keep and learn by everyone. We, you and I are Filipinos, we are born with freedom, and we are born with life. We are tough and smart, characteristics portrayed by most of us. We should live with it, do not let others dictate who you should be but we are democratically given a chance to choose who we are because we are Filipino. We have our own identity.
