Hyperlink Documents, Photos, or Webpages

to an ArcMap Feature (polygon, line or point)

Pre-Hyperlink requirements

• Finished documents, photos, web-link files that pertain to objects in ArcMap that need

additional hyperlinks

Step 1: Open ArcMap with desired layers displayed

Step 2: A: Click on Identify Tool then click on the object on you map

OR

B: Right click the object then select the Identify tool from the menu

***Object will be highlighted for a brief second and information with then be

displayed in identify dialog box***

Step 3: Right Click object name or where the name should be…Then Click Add Hyperlink…

Step 4: In Dialog Window… Browse for file

***Next time object is identified, a hyperlink option will appear… Select

will open in appropriate program.

Browse for file… Select the file… Select Open… then select

***Hyperlinks can also be for WebPages as well… simply during STEP 4: Select link to a URL…

Paste in webpage link… Click ok ***
