Mushroom Supply and Services has introduced a product that is a totally new concept for cleaning down and disinfecting mushroom farms. NutriClean is a sanitizer that is intended or use in and around the mushroom arm or the control o the major mushroom pathogens. It is intended to be used on boards, walls, loors, hangers, stump cans, picking tools and equipment. The product is sae and non-hazardous to work with and contains no phenols, chlorine, ormaldehyde, aldehydes or qua- ternary ammonium compounds. NutriClean works with our modes o action: antiungal components, a cleaning agent, penetrating action and protective action. In short, the natural oils within NutriClean engul spores and render them non-viable while leaving a protective residue, which is waterproo to halt later mold development. NutriClean was irst looked at in a European study by Mushroom Advice and Analysis that tested the eectiveness o the product on spore ger - mination. Since eliminating spores is more diicult than inected mycelium, we wanted to irst test it on that. The pathogens tested were: Cladobotryum dendriodes (Cobweb), Verticillium fungicola (Dry Bubble), Mycogone periciosa (Wet Bubble) and Trichoderma harzianum (Green Mold). NutriClean was proven that even at the lowest concentration (0.1 percent), the pathogens were reduced. Further, above 0.4 percent concentration no germina- tion was recorded o any o the treatments in the 48-hour test period. (See European Study. Please note NutriClean is called SporeKill in the first study completed in Europe.) Once we had completed the European test with promising results, we wanted to conduct another study to test the eect o NutriClean on the growth o Trichoderma aggressivum and Verticillium fungicola speciically. We had this study completed at Longwood Biological Laboratories, Inc. with promising results. Ater testing seven dierent concentrations o NutriCle an, rom as low as 0 .01 percent to as high as 20 percent we ound that a concentration o 0.05 percent signiicantly sup- pressed growth o Verticillium fungicola by almost 50 percent as compared to the control. Furthe r, the growth o this pathogen was completely inhibited when NutriClean concentration was greater than 0.75 percent. We then had our more medium concentra- Laura Persoleo Mushroom Supply & Services Inc. Hockessin, DE laura@ag-solutionsinc.com David Iaconi
