OUR VISIONBy installing our new energy-efficient fan coils with energy or heat recovery ventilator (ERV/HRV), you don’t just save energy – you also live a healthy life. An ERV/HRV is a mechanical ventilation device that helps make your building healthier, cleaner and more comfortable. It does so by continuously replacing stale indoor air with fresh outdoor air. Its ability to exchange heat between the supplies and exhaust air streams reduces the cost of heating and cooling the air circulating through your building. E/HRV are sometimes called air-to-air heat exchangers because they preheat or cool incoming air using exhaust air.

STANDARD FEATURES Cold Climate Heat Pump (-20°C operation)We offer four different heat pump series: air-to-air heat pumps, air-to-water heat pumps, water-to-water heat pumps and water-to-air heat pumps.

Our heat pumps’ fan coils are designed specifically for cold climates. Using variable capacity compressors with inverter technology, performance is im-proved: As the outdoor temperatures drop and the first stage (or low speed) can’t meet the required comfort level, the second stage or high speed acti-vates. Other improvements include more efficient blowers and ECM motors; larger coil surface areas; time delays on controls; and electronic expansion valves to control the flow of the refrigerant more efficiently. Our new air-to-air cold climate heat pump systems can supply up to 100% of a building’s heating needs without back-up for weather conditions as cold as 7°F (-14°C) at COP = 2.00, which is an improvement over pre-existing air-to-air heat pumps.

Energy Saving

For air-to-air heat pumps: High efficiency up to 20 SEER and 10 HSPF.

For more severe, colder weather applications, we supply a back-up electric heater inside the unit to compensate for the loss in capacity below -14°C ambient.

(Optional) The air heat pump series are also offered with desuperheater HX for dedicated domestic hot water heating. This option is available in sizes from 2 to 5 nominal tons. The 2-ton option is ideal for the average four-person family looking for a dedicated domestic hot water heat pump. The larger sizes are suitable for domestic hot water production for commercial applications.

Indoor ECM Variable Speed Fan

We use backward curved centrifugal fans equipped with high-efficiency ECM variable speed motor technology, which is ideal for various advanced applications.

ECM technology is based on a direct current (DC) design that is more efficient and runs cooler than AC PSC motors. DC designs are in fact approximately 80% efficient, compared to the 60% efficiency rating of PSC designs.

Key ECM motor features include the following:

n Programmable: In the case of a failure, the control of the motor can be re-placed without having to replace the entire blower.

n Designed to run over a wide range of speeds, making it ideal for delivering airflow in a multitude of system designs.

n Draws the least amount of watts, making ECM the most efficient motor technology.

n Quietest among the motor technologies: It has the ability to ramp up and down slowly, making it ideal for applications with noise concerns.

HRV Frost Control Strategies

A timed exhaust frost control cycles the blower on and off based on a factory provided timer. Exhaust only frost control is a simple, cost-effective method, which periodically defrosts ice formation on the heat exchanger by shutting down the supply fan to remove the source of cold air.

(Optional) bypass dampers allow air to bypass the plate heat exchanger when the temperature of the exhaust air leaving the heat exchanger drops below 32F set point allowing warm exhaust air to melt the frost.

Certifications and Standards

All of our units conform to Std. UL 1995, Certified to CSA C22.2 No.236. Factory tests and commissions are performed in our test lab before all units’ shipments. Should our clients have additional certification and standards requirements to meet, we are committed to provide those certifications before shipment.
